  1. If we beat Tulsa Saturday I will buy everyone at Lucky Lous with Mean Green apparel and knowledge of the win a drink. If we lose to Tulsa on Saturday I will be looking forward to being an obnoxiously loud fan while FAU's offense is on the field the following weekend!
  2. I was searching for some preview reports of the upcoming UNT vs. TULSA and this video from the 2008 game came up. Watch it at your own risk: Disgusting, right? Here's the upside: 1) APOGEE STADIUM KICKS THE SHIT OUT OF FOUTS!!!! WOOOO! 2) Our defense is starting to ACTUALLY tackle! 3) Our defense is starting to play more AGGRESSIVELY! 4) You could tell the UNT players in that video had very little energy and excitement...we have ENERGY now! 5) The crowd is actually a FACTOR at Apogee And, best of all... 6) We're not the "other" South Lake Carroll team anymore! We may not win this upcoming game against Tulsa. But there is no doubt that this program is heading in the right direction with the new stadium, new coaching staff, and new team. If we've seen this many fantastic improvements in the past few months, I can't wait to see what this coaching staff and team put together for us in the next few years! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!
  3. Will SBC or Big 10 refs be officiating the IU game tomorrow?
  4. He didn't play the first three games but was (apparently) supposed to return for the UNT game. However, he aggravated his knee injury a few days ago and doesn't look like he will play the game tomorrow. He may even be done with his career. Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/33699/knee-issues-put-willis-career-in-jeopardy
  5. Just out of honest and naive curiosity...what would happen if the Sun Belt added schools to make a 16 team conference?
  6. Here are some things that I took away from the game... The GOOD: 1) O-Line didn't give up any sacks against a really, really good defense. 2) No interceptions or fumbles on our part. 3) Defense looked more confident and poised at times in this game than I have seen them in the past 3-4 years. 4) Defense never gave up and managed to make plays late in the game. My favorite part about it was that you could tell they were still excited and fighting to get the job done. Haven't seen that in a long time. 5) Came out healthy as far as we all know 6) Lots of different players got playing time and experience. Facing the situations in that atmosphere is an experience that should certainly make you stronger. The BAD: 1) The offense hasn't scored a single point in the 2 out of 3 games we've played...scary. I know that they were facing great defenses, but opportunities to score were presented and we couldn't seal the deal. I hope we can change that against Indiana this weekend. The CONTROVERSIAL: 1) Rotating key players at crucial points of the game. I'm okay with it and think Mac was smart for doing that towards the end of the game. There's no shot at coming back. Put some of the younger players in a high stress situation and see what they can do with it. If they do something, awesome. If they don't, they gain great experience and know you aren't kidding when you say "Be ready to make plays when your number is called." 2) Lance Dunbar is supposed to be the Keystone of this offense and he hasn't done much yet (compared to what he did last year). I think he's still getting his groove back after this concussion. I think Indiana's run defense is weaker than the three we've faced so far and he'll have a break out game this upcoming weekend. 3) QB rotation. Hey, competition has heated up as all three have been put in game situations and rotated frequently. I'm betting that Mac and Chico will start to rotate less now that the games are more winnable and they have a better idea as to who can do what. 4) Offensive play calling. Some have called it boring and non sensical, but it seems that there is a sound theory behind the madness - keep the ball as long as possible to keep it out of the opponent's hands. Fair enough IMO. Overview Thoughts Through Alabama: We look to improve in one fashion or another every game that we play. My biggest observation is that there have been moments where we look like a team that is going in for the kill whereas other times we've looked like we're just dabbling and experimenting. I think these first 3 games have been a platform for Mac & Co. to test the waters and see what works, what doesn't, who's going to step up, and who isn't. After these three games, there's no doubt in my mind that the coaches have a full understanding of what they're working with now and will be able to play to the strengths and mask the weaknesses. I'm betting that we will see a much more structured and to-the-point game plan from here on out. The BEST: 1) Toughest part of the season is behind us. We have a fighting and clawing chance at winning every game from here on out. GO MEAN GREEN! BEAT INDIANA!!!!
  7. WOW!!! TY AGAIN! Up 20-3. He is good...really good...
  8. They're playing well. I hope FIU wins.
  9. Wow. Will definitely be interesting. The coaches have been high on him since he stepped foot on campus. Can't wait to see how he is used on Saturday!
  10. I think he and Dodge handle loosing quite differently.
  11. The coaches on our staff have way more first hand college football and bowl game experience than all of us combined. Let's not sit here from our office chairs and make ridiculous game plans that are "better" than the coach's. They know what they are doing. They know what tools they do and don't have. They will figure it out. If you want to make up pretend game plans and boost your ego, go play NCAA Football 12 on your favorite gaming system. All we should be concerned about is showing up to the games, getting our friends to come to the games with us, and creating a true home field advantage for our team.
  12. Not negative ways, just making an observation. If we can get our passing game up and running, it should help keep the opponent's defense honest instead of completely blocking out Dunbar like FIU did. I have faith in McCarney and co, I just hope the players can improve as much as they'll need to and learn how to execute at a higher level.
  13. Troy leading Clemson 16-13 at half. Looking good...Sun Belt play is certainly improving which will make our turn around that much more difficult...
  14. MTSU is beating Purdue right now 14-10 in the 4th quarter.
  15. Anyone know much about Clemson's team this year? Does Troy have a shot at winning that one?
  16. Alabama vs. Kent State @ 11:00 Troy vs. Clemson @ 2:30 Indiana vs. Ball State @ 6:00 I'll be checking them out to see what we're up against. Hopefully they all look worse than FIU!!!! Go Mean Green!
  17. I'm a diehard, but I'm no analyst. Osborn came in and played against a second string FIU defense but (I thought) looked great. Comfortably, efficient, and effective. What did you more skill-savvy fans think?
  18. We get a million dollars for this game, right?
  19. This is painful...bit I'm still watching. I was expecting more energy. We need something to rally around in the second half and make this respectable. I don't want McCarneys first game to go down as a blow out. We need to make adjustments and be aggressive in the second half.
