  1. An Open Letter to University of North Texas Students from Head Football Coach Dan McCarney First and foremost I have to say THANK YOU to all the students for the support that you showed this football team in the Houston game! Every player on this team said that it was the best atmosphere that they have ever played in. I said in my postgame press conference and would like to reiterate here that I was emotional when I came out from the locker room and saw the student turnout. It was a special night and I just wish our performance on the field could have matched the enthusiasm and passion that the students and the whole crowd brought to the game. We are building this football program one piece at a time. Primarily, we have to develop a level of character that will transcend the field of competition. As a coaching staff, we are demanding that our players are accountable for everything they do, from going to class, to the way they present themselves in the community and as contributors to this team. It is not going to happen overnight, but we feel that if we create an environment of responsibility it will pay off in the long run. There is nothing that I want more than success for this program, and I am probably more impatient than anyone, but I also understand you cant change the culture overnight. In our first three games we have played one of the toughest schedules ever at North Texas. We are the only team in America that has faced three undefeated opponents and it looks like there is a good chance all three of those teams could finish the season undefeated. We have made improvement and I am confident that we will continue to improve and we will win some games this year. I am again asking for your support this weekend when we play Indiana. It is the first time ever that a team from the Big 10 Conference has traveled to Denton. They are used to playing in front of crowds that exceed 75,000, but based upon what I saw against Houston, I know that Apogee Stadium can be every bit as intimidating. Like I said before, it begins and ends with the students. You are the energy that this team fuels from. The student body is what this team plays for. I implore you to be patient as we build this program into one that you can be proud of. The transition is tough, but the end result will be worth waiting for. It takes a collaborative effort to succeed at the highest level in anything you do and we know that we cant do it without your support. 3. There will be more conference realignment threads on the football board of gmg.com the morning after the game than threads about the game.
  4. While I agree that it is nothing but an excuse for faculty members to complain about $24 tickets as it is well within their price range, I would disagree that all college professors are poor investments. I know that one UNT professor actually offered extra credit to students who attended the Houston game and there are plenty of UNT profs that go to the games regularly. It is unfair to lump them all together in one apathetic group.
  5. Because that would be down right logical
  6. I'm just hoping for a good turnout and a very loud stadjium on Saturday. After listening to audio from IU players their coaches have really been talking to them about the atmosphere at The App. I'd hate for them to leave saying that it wasn't as loud as they were expecting.
  7. FAU game judging by this page
  8. He did the Houston game too. Not much better at color commentary than he was at being an NFL QB
  9. Gagreed, me and my friends frequently take advantage of the Stars student ticket pricing which before this year meant we had to drive to get to the AAC. And since we are broke college students we had to park roughly half a mile away. We would then make the half mile walk to the north ticket box to pick up our $10 student tickets and Chipotle free burrito card, then we walk the nearly mile long walk to the Chipotle in the West End to eat our free burritos so we don't have to pay for overpriced concessions. Finally, we walk the nearly mile long walk back to the AAC resulting in just under 2 and a half miles walked, not including the half mile walk back to our car after the game, and we have a great time everytime. Point is that people are lazy these days and think walking is the worst thing ever, which is one reason why Americans are so fat.
  10. If Hilton stays 90% healthy or better then FIU will go undefeated in conference at least.
  11. I was wondering if anybody was going to correct said poster. I for one am too lazy to sign up and correct him myself. However, other than his oversight and the one guy who talked about how much respect he has for us while repeatedly referring to us as NTSU, they seem very much like us. They even have a uniform prediction thread for saturday night... sounds familiar.
  12. Hoosiers. 1. Very sloppy win against S.C. State 2. Young inexperienced (less experience than DT) QB 3. Similar o-line situation to ours, although they're starting a few freshmen due to lack of performance from upperclassmen rather than the neccessity forcing us to do so 4. First year head coach in first head coaching job of his career. While he is a good coach who will probably have success in the future, he doesn't have the experience of our staff. 5. Defense that appears average at best. Definitely not as good as the 3 we've faced so far. 6. I've never seen a Mean Green football victory in person as I didn't arrive on campus until the fall of 2008... so that's all I have to say about that. Go Mean Green
  13. It's so refreshing to read a post full of logic and intelligent football knowledge. I trust the decisions being made by the most experienced (and successful experience at that!) coaching staff in Mean Green history.
  14. Disagree, the game at Texas Hall 2 years ago ranks near the top of most exciting Mean Green basketball games I've experienced in my short time since enrolling. We'll have plenty of chances to place at their new place in the future.
  15. What, umm... Do you like your gig?
  16. Gotcha. Didn't do my research on that one. Upon further review Trice looks like a big time difference maker, very excited to see what he does next year.
  17. True, I completely forgot about that stuff... I take back my original statement. Cut his ass TODAY!!!!!!
  18. Played against Miller in high school when he was a sophomore, he was a beast. But I have to wonder if he's worth it since he hasn't done much at OU. Then again, the OU transfers we have seem to have just been buried in their depth chart so maybe that's the case with Miller
  19. If Romo doesn't play, the Cowboys get blown out in that game. He's the only reason the game was even close in the first place. He makes any offensive line look way better than they are.
  20. Maybe after the show robot Greggo will head to FRY STREET
  21. I didn't ask how many student tickets had been claimed but the process was very easy at the ticket office, scanned the ID as usual and I bought my lady friend's guest ticket. In the 15 or so minutes I was there around noon a UH alumni bought some tickets and had to get seats outside of the visitors section because it was completely full, and at least 6 six students came in to pick up tickets as well as my roomate who came in right after me.
  22. Indeed, thats why I'm choosing the softball parking lot. It has easier access to The Hill while still allowing us to use our trucks and large grill.
  23. I'm trying to decide as well. However, I can't choose between The Hill or the premium parking passes right across Bonnie Brea. I'm afraid if we choose The Hill then they might not let us use our grill which is significantly larger than the restrictions they have listed. Right now I'm leaning towards the premium passes because they cost the same as Fouts and are closer to The Hill than Fouts.
  24. Just picked up my student and student guest tickets and noticed that the Apogee logo was being put up. It is very big, and they were also putting up all sorts of signage around the stajium as well as unloading a new shipment of merchandise for the team store including the coaches Nike polos. Very cool stuff, lots of activity, I can't wait for Saturday!!!!
