  1. Well our completion percentage through two games is higher than Aune’s was last year. Isn’t that what the problem was? I heard that somewhere.
  2. That’s my point, Littrell didn’t get the benefit of that adjustment period like a freshly hired coach would. 2021 was better than 2020 and 2022 was better than 2021. As long as we continued to improve (however slightly it may have been) he should have been given the opportunity to continue that improvement.
  3. If he’d inherited a pile of mess like McCarney left in 2015 then we’d probably be a little more patient but this guy just lost to a program we beat the previous two seasons by a combined score of 101-21. This is not acceptable. I don’t think Littrell ever lost to FIU.
  4. What if it is more than just one new coach learning the team or the team learning them and their system? Lets say 5 for the 2019 season including the OC. How about 4 for the 2020 season including all 3 coordinators. Or ‘21 when we had an entirely new defensive staff and new special teams coordinator? Is there no adjustment period for those?
  5. Even when changing an offensive or defensive philosophy/scheme?
  6. You say players and coaches need plural but in practice it usually only applies to the Head Coach. Littrell’s staff was poached repeatedly in the beginning of his tenure but when we had to replace a coordinator or assistant there was never a “still learning about each other”, it was always “he’s been here 6 years or whatever”. The whole point of this hire was to build upon the foundation that Seth built amd take us higher yet it looks more like EMo is tearing it down.
  7. Yes and Darrell Dickey had only 4 wins against teams with a .500 record or above during the 4 year bowl run and 26 game conference win streak. Also, how about the love for beating a 3-9 Baylor team?
  8. Also said he thinks we are small for a 4 man front.
  9. I know it sounds strange but Earle was our leading rusher against FIU last season too. We actually ran for 40 yards more on them as a team this season than we did last year. The difference was we were missing Aune’s 400 yards and 5 passing TDs plus we allowed them to move the ball over 500 yards this year while we only allowed them 258 yards last year. I guess more than anything it comes down to stops. I guess someone needs to let Caponi know.
  10. If we had an opponent who traveled as well as Texas State did following their Baylor win we’d sell out no problem. I assure you Texas State had more to do with that record attendance than UTSA. If you don’t believe that check the attendance for their next home game on 10/7 against Temple. It won’t matter if they beat both Army and Tennessee over the next to weeks, they still won’t beat the attendance they brought with Texas State helping them out.
  11. If you believe Jason Witten and Deion Sanders have the same level of salesmanship and connections to woo recruits and assistant coaches then I may have a blinker fluid manufacturing business for you to invest in.
  12. It would be easier just to join a conference in which every team has a losing record but us. We wouldn’t have to worry so much about elevating the program, just lower the competition and you can rattle off 26 straight conference wins. Maybe we could start a FBS conference with the 5 or 6 worst teams in the Southland, then we would truly be great.
  13. It was Ron, not Ray. I will never forget that name.
  14. yep Dickey worked at Texas A&M from 2018 through last season, serving as Jimbo Fisher’s offensive coordinator. Dickey did not call plays for the Aggies, as that was a responsibility Fisher took up. Dickey also worked with tight ends during his time in College Station, Texas. https://www.dawgnation.com/football/georgia-football-analyst-clemson/HWBX43CFNJDY5MHHVO43HAASUU/
  15. It isn’t like they hired him to be the OC or even a position coach. He is there as an analyst. And if you recall, Dickey set a pretty high bar for suckage in 2006 at that 7OT game.
  16. We were bad last year at 121st in the nation with 460 yards given up per game. At 598.5 we are a special level of atrocious. For comparison, the gold standard of defensive futility around here has always been Ron Mendoza. His 2007 defense (his only season) we gave up 468.4 and were 113th out of 119 in the nation. In 2013, Skladany had us at 17th out of 125 in the nation at 348.3 yards per game. Two years later Chris Cosh had us back down to 120th of 128 in the nation giving up 502.4 yards per game. Finally, Troy Reffett, who I thought was quite good, was fired after the 2019 season when we gave up 411.8 yards per game positioning us at 81st in the nation out of 130 teams.
  17. It was so far gone that even Deloach couldn’t salvage it the next year. It was a similar shitshow Reff walked into after Chris Cosh.

    Why?

I would too. Yes, I was one of the very few that thought he earned another year. We were really bad in ‘19. Better in ‘20 than ‘19. Better in ‘21 than ‘20 and better ‘22 than ‘21. As long as he didn’t have another fall off like ‘19 I was willing to let him continue the incremental improvement.

    Why?

Your favorite coach was lucky enough to have a FBS conference full of FCS schools fall into his lap so you may want to reevaluate your measuring stick of what a top coach at NT looks like.
