I feel like Stone forced their hand but they feel obligated to also play Rogers because they convinced him to transfer here thinking he would win the job easily.

Say what you want about Todd Dodge’s tenure at North Texas but there is no denying the man can flat out coach quarterbacks.

The 2019 Bodie Reeder offense did the defense no favors.

Game week prep starts August 28, I’d bet we will publicly know the starter by then. I doubt very seriously he would do the whole lets see who runs out there for the first series on game day like Littrell did.

I’d feel more disrespected if I were Stanford or Colorado. This one doesn’t bother me much.

I agree completely. Let them all continue to push for the starting job until Cal week. Anybody that was here in 2010 knows very well that injuries can happen at the quarterback position and I think this puts us in a better position to succeed if we were to face significant injuries.

What has you so certain that our current guys don’t have the talent to play the position?

I’ll find it exciting if Earle or Ruder wins the job because it is all but certain that they would have earned the job. If Rogers won the job for game 1, I would always have that doubt that the starting job was a condition of transfer.

Could be but Morris was pretty clear he had narrowed it to a 3 man race in the spring.

Stone was our fifth best rusher by yardage last year only below our four-headed running back monster.

Rogers didn’t put that level of stats up on average at ULM.

Stone averaged 6 yards per carry last year for us. I think that is pretty good.

Do what? Lead his team to a 4-8 record? Throw for 200 yards and 1 touchdown? Where is the “hand him the job” stat? We aren’t talking about Cam Ward leading UIW to a 10-3 record averaging over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns per game. Rogers led the cellar dweller Warhawks and wasn’t spectacular doing so. I hope the kid does well for us but don’t act like anything he did at ULM entitles him to the job over anyone else on our roster. I think we have different definitions of success.
