  1. Indiana and Vanderbilt have to be on the chopping block as you need space for Florida state and Clemson. Next two would probably be North Carolina and maybe Miami? The split is coming. What’s interesting is they think all the fans of the other 100 schools are going to pick a school to poor allegiance into and we’re talking about gate sales and tv viewership. Thats not how college football works. They’ll learn. I don’t personally believe a model that slices fanbases out builds up a league or sport. Again, they will learn. Just keep playing beating peers tailgating bowling and winning. It will all still be so much fun. GMG
  2. I’m excited to play Wyoming. An intriguing team with name recognition. One of their alums is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. We will eventually merge with MWC PAC forces. May as well see where and how we stack up. Plus that away game in the mountains is going to be sweet. GMG
  3. Rip the seats, benches out of a section and put leaning rails cup holders in them. Put this section in the end zone near the in stadium pub and allow guests to wander down with cocktails, beers, waters…this will become a rowdy section at the games mimicking sections like Tmbers Army, Los Verdes in Austin and Stretford End in Old Trafford. I personally don’t like sitting at games and if they made a section like this, you would see some diehard alums new graduates, kids and more simply stand and roar all game long. It would be like an in game party in that section. I’d buy a season ticket for this section in a heartbeat. Haven’t had a seat in Toyota for a decade and these “seats” or spaces are usually more cost effective too. Get creative to spawn engagement. Other perks in this section allow you to get a wristband and hit the Supporters only beer and food line. No seat to sit in, but cheap, faster service options, wristband recognition. GMG
  4. Great work and great idea. Organized supporter groups make noise, get tv shots and lift the energy of our away team. You captured the attention of the smu fans on their board. I went to Rice last year and that gym was already loud with our good Houston alumni base down there. That game is going to rock. GMG
  5. What about the Sun Belt CUSA and MAC? Thats a lot of teams too. Our basketball league has made me more interested in our football league. GMG
  6. We need to keep going after series with MWC teams. Those teams have big win totals and are sometimes ranked. Yet they look beatable. It’s a different style of play I think we could match up well against. Give me some New Mexico Utah state San Diego state Boise Nevada and CSU. MWC and AAC play different styles to my untrained but observant eye. GMG
  7. Heck of a game. I have grown to love American Hoops! Congrats Bulls. We hung with the beasts in this league. See y’all in Fort Worth. GMG
  8. Love that. It’s creative and kept me intrigued. WVU GMG
  9. Build the culture. We have built the basketball culture we need to build the football culture, and I am cautiously excited about what Morris is doing this offseason. There is still that beast in south Texas but with a few pegs we go bowling and start steering the football program in a great direction. but this is bball tonight! We held serve and downed a pony. It’s fantastic! GMG
  10. I guess that what bugs me most is the term “power conference.” WCC is a power conference with Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s. Mountain west with a projected 5 teams in the field of 64 is a Power Conference. GMG.
  11. The label is stupid. There is no power conference designation in basketball. Those mountain west programs run circles around many programs in the big 10 ACC sec…in attendance intensity quality and lore. Cede no territory belief or mindset. GMG
  12. It’s almost that “sign” or reminder how cool it was to be in Denton. We’ve all had that sign on this board. Hence Denton and UNT live on wherever we go. GMG
  13. Exactly. It’s like the pilots I once trained - cocky, arrogant, knew it all, up for the test. On further reflection that’s exactly who I wanted flying my helicopter into the valleys of Hawaii. If you walk into a situation without the belief you can succeed and elevate, you won’t. Coach is interesting cat. Not sure of what his personality is but it was enough to get one of the best jobs in all levels of football. 🏈 Interesting watch in Tuscaloosa. GMG
  14. I believe it will be Lane. He has just enough villain in him to keep Bama, hated Bama. The Carrol idea is interesting and there is no way that coach is done. He needs a gig more than Belichick. Plus Kiffin knows the SEC. He’s won at most stops. He recruits grade A talent to Ole Miss. He’s ready and I don’t think this is a thankless job. Alabama will reload not rebuild. You give me a ready made culture with high bars and expectations, and resources out the arse. That is not a bad gig. Sark would be a risk. Need to see him do a bit more at Texas before he gets one of the primo jobs in the old SEC. He’s got one in the new SEC. I did Dabo but he struggles with the new landscape. Too risky. GMG
  15. Glad I lived through the Saban legend - can only imagine Vince Lombardi, Bear Bryant and Darrell K Royal. We witnessed one of the greats of all times. Roll Tide gmg
  16. Ford is not a great place. It feels outdated and the concessions are terrible. I’ve only been a few times but your friend’s observations were completely understandable. I really don’t understand how a stadium concession crew can establish such a reputation for mismanagement for more than 5 years now without a fix in sight. I mean if the State Fair booths can do it every year, what’s up with whoever handles the F&B contract for smu. Will not miss ford. Thank goodness for DATCU. GMG
  17. I know they would bring a crowd. But UTSA would bring a crowd to Ford and would they ever want to play them? They skirted them in bowl games and conference play to boot. I don’t want the smu scheduling philosophy of wanting other fans to fill our stadium. Example, Houston yes with their solid fanbase, Texas State, if we have to. But not my first OOC of interest. I think this goes back to my old school days of following UNT since the 80’s. I have a been there done that with the Bobcats. We weee conference mates and I saw them often. Whereas younger fans haven’t seen this show yet. I would much love us going after the CSU, Boise, Oregon State, San Diego State, Washington State, some Big 10s that don’t come to North Texas often. Look we’ll play them in conference soon enough. Quality schedules requested por favor. GMG
  18. Good for Jason. All the best on your next life chapters. GMG
  19. I still prefer playing La Tech. Let’s play TSU if they are conference mates one day. Sic’em on the Runners at this time. I hope we go bowling next year. GMG
  20. I still think they are second in line: 1. Georgia State 2. Texas State …and would roadrunner have objections and try to block their addition. yeah smu end zones is silly. One month since regular seasons end. Smu will do anything for attention. Crowd looks good on tv. Rice is much improved despite this game. Defense is solid. GMG
  21. I still think the Jags will be one of our toughest games next year along with Texas Tech, especially based on the way we all play. Meanwhile future AAC target Georgia State looked good. SBC and MWC overall struggling this bowl season. Keep rolling AAC! GMG
  22. SMU will still be in the ACC but it will be a shell of the league they gave themselves up for. New ACC would be BC Syracuse SMU Pitt Wake Tulane Rice USF Memphis Georgia Tech UCONN UMASS 2 others. They won’t come back to the AAC but other options include joining the SBC or giving CUSA a presence in the Metroplex again. GMG
  23. That smile says it all. A passionate Mean Green who got to see highs and lows and supported to the end. So glad he had a chance to live one of our Mean Green’s most iconic memories in person. RIP Sir
  24. The most baffling post of this time of year to me are people complaining we have too much college football on a college football board. Maybe I just hang with too many SEC fans and people who have spent time in the south, but this take is always strange to me. The Western Kentucky bs Old Dominion game was one of the best games of the year! These stats/ ODU winning 28-0 and lose. WKU with 5 turnovers and win. ODU stopped at the 1 then a missed FG WKU quarterback a Bowling Green native with strange mechanics leads the team on an unprecedented comeback. WKU kicks FG in OT and kicker gets carried off the field. Teary eyed quarterback swarmed by cheerleaders after win. One of the MAC matchups was awesome. The Montana Griz’ show stopping win over the Dynasty Bison of NDSU was an incredible watch. Yes Incorporate the bowls into the playoff format to increase attendance. Keep the bowls for those who aren’t in the 12. The one thing I have been pleasantly surprised by is that with so many holdouts it’s a freaking free for all out there. Better give your backups some reps in season because you will use them in the bowls. We also got a glimpse of the future in McCown and Pennington. Cole looks exactly like Chad to me - blew me away. Sign me up for too much football and let’s go bowling next year! GMG
