  1. That's pretty funny. Sad... but funny On another note, what happened to green grenade? Haven't read one of his crazy posts in a while.
  2. Just out of curiosity, what happened to the old stanford stadium? Why would you dump a stadium that seated over 80,000 when you're in the PAC-10.
  3. I saw him in my class and asked him what he thought of TD so far. He mentioned a work out and how he had talked to TD for a bit. He also said everyone got new underarmour cleats, shirts and practice gear. He said TD had a contract with underarmour and that they were in the process of making us new uniforms, and that we were changing helmets to go along with it. He didn't mention the use of the flying worm or the eagles head, so I don't know of any other details about the helmet.
  4. I was in a class earlier tonight and a player on the football team told me we are getting new uniforms thanks to Todd Dodge. He said Underarmour endorsed TD at Southlake, and his contracts extends to UNT. The uniforms will end up changing up a bit from last season, but he said the biggest change will be the helmet!!
  5. Against SMU I think we had around 26k... MUTS around 23k I believe. If anyone has those exact numbers that would be greatly appreciated. Zeke, I agree that the mid 20's would be outstanding next season. But back to the point I was making, despite being blown out by texas the first game, we still had a very good showing of fans that next week. And again a lot of people showed up against the MUTS despite a horrific OOC campaign. Does this mean we will have 25k show up agaisnt FAU? Not likely, but we proved we have a decent fan base as long as we don't suck it up horribley. 30k should happen within 5 years or else I think RV has failed his job. No way a 35k enrollment university should consistently avg. 15k per season. How do we do that? It includes winning games, playing more regionals teams, running an exciting offense that passes on third downs and building a stadium people aren't ashamed of.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the average of the first two games this past season was way over 20,000. Factor in that this was after a 2-9 season, and that's pretty damn good. I see us having a 20-25k attendance all year long if we had an offense that was exciting and had a record over .500 Add in that we already got TD who should bring much more exciting game play, along with the fact that we want to move into a conference with more regional foe's, our attendance could very easily be around 30k a game. I believe we can attain at least 30k in attendance each game within the next 5 years if we take the right steps. I may be optimistic here, but I see a lot of potential and opportunity.
  7. I doubt Baylor would be kicked out of the Big XII. They are very competitive in all sports besides mens basketball and football. I wasn't being realistic with that line up of teams, I would just love to see all the mid-major teams out of texas merge into one conference instead of being spread out. I think if you look at it from a perspective of travel costs, local media coverage and attendance figures, this conference really makes sense for everyone. If this conference did happen and Baylor did join, they might actually be able to make it into a bowl game instead of being the laughing stock of the Big XII every year.
  8. I'm not sure how you can call it a revived SWC just because you included three bottom feeders from the old conference. I would like it if all of the mid major texas teams would create their own conference and also include a some other regional teams. My ideal conference would go like this: 1. TCU 2. SMU 3. UNT 4. UTEP 5. UH 6. Rice 7. La Tech 8. Ark State 9. Tulsa 10. NMSU 11. Troy 12. ULL
  9. I would be very surprised if BSU was still in the WAC two or three years from now. I think we took a calculated risk when we didn't join, and I think it was the right decision in the long run. The sunbelt is getting better every year, we had 2 bowl teams and we were 4-3 against CUSA. Each year the OOC play gets better. Troy is shaping up to be a great football program, I really hope we can establish a great rivalry with them before we leave. The only thing I don't like about the belt is we don't have a rival team from Texas, but neither does the WAC so I'm glad we made the decision to stay.
  10. I was going to make this a reply but wanted to go ahead and start up a new two part topic. 1. New stadium and an upper deck Just curious, but have any of you seen a game at Kyle Field? That stadium is known for one of the best gameday experiences and yet is a triple-deck stadium. I'm not trying to be a smart ass here, I've never seen a game from Kyle Field. I was just curious about why that's considered to be such a great stadium, yet everyone seems to hate upper decks. 2. Build the new stadium even if its 30k As for the 'I'll take the new 30k stadium because anything's better than Fouts' opinion a few of you have, I do agree with it to a certain extent. Anything that's new and built with good standards will do at this point. However, anything less than 35-40k and I can almost guarentee we'll never be able to get a school like UT or OU to come play here in the near future. I was hooked on UNT football after I watched the Baylor game at Fouts. It wasn't because we beat a school in a BCS conference, what got me hooked was the college game day experience. However, I was enticed to go to the game because we were playing a reconizable regional team (I had never heard of MUTS, FAU, etc. etc). Once I got to the game and saw tailgating and other activities I was sold. It's hard to imagine how many sleeping alumni would wake up if UT came into our new stadium and the game came down to the wire. I just find it hard to believe a new 30k stadium could help us that much in a such a competitive DFW sporting area. We gotta find a way to go bigger.
  11. I really hope I'm wrong, but I just have this gut feeling we're not going to build a stadium over 32k to begin with.
  12. That's a great post. He was all-state and captain on a state championship team (when's the last time we could say that about a new recruit?). He may end up being a bust, but he has a hell of a lot of potential.
  13. We'd have to join the Big XII Something kind of interesting to speculate at though: two years ago the TCU vs OU game was nationally televised on abc, and I think the year before that the Houston vs OU was also nationally televised on abc. With us getting a new coach and a lot of press do we have a shot at getting a nationally televised game?
  14. UT won last year in baseball and football, made a run at basketball also. You can certainly tell which schools spend hundreds of millions on athletics. That's why I think what Boise State did is so amazing. I'd imagine it's pretty hard to attract top rated recruits to play in Idaho, when they can be pampered at a school whose athletics budget could power a third world nation.
  15. Man oh man, this one is getting ugly. Florida up 34-14 at the half, it's going to be one hell of a come back for Ohio State to have a chance. Doubtlful, but maybe Boise has a shot at some of the title after all.
  16. Ok, we got two first team all state players from the area to verbal commitments. This is great, but I don't understand why rivals/scouts rates them so low. They made the all state team in the most competitive football region in the best football state, doesn't that merit a better ranking? I understand that they might think Padron is undersized, but what about Breece Johnson? This kid is a stud. Why isn't this guy one of the top rated recruits? Also, how is this class shaping up compared to DD's recruiting classes from the past few years?
  17. I haven't been added yet, but Harry please add me soon. I am now realizing how addicted to this message board.
  18. That's in horrible taste, you should be ashamed for posting that. I'm not going to voice my opinion on this because I didn't donate the money, and it's not up to you or me. It's ultimately MM's decision, so let's just leave it at that.
  19. I'm currently a senior (110 hours completed) so I'm still working part time as a financial analyst for an investment consulting firm, which consults in over $27 billion. I've also got several other offers from fortune 500 companies for this summer when I graduate... one of them is working with cutting edge derivatives for one of the largest companies in the world. Don't let the snobs at SMU tell you your degree isn't worth anything, it's all about what you make of it.
  20. For Todd Dodge to live up to the hpye his first season with a 10 win season..... and what the hell, go ahead and add a overtime victory over OU also.
  21. I think we will can get more 3 star recruits, and maybe snag a few 4 star recruits. I honestly have no idea about this season's class though, since Dodge hasn't picked out all of his coaching staff and he hasn't even officially started his job yet. Whether we wanted to admit it or not, SMU had a huge recruiting advantage over us. A good stadium and a top tier private university sells better. With Dodge I expect the tables to be turned. Add in our new stadium and we should be able to beat SMU and TCU in recruiting on a consistent basis.
  22. Emmitt isn't just a Dallas police officer, he's also the grammar police
  23. Mine also has the emerald, but I've never had it broken or even scratched. But again, I haven't punched anyone out with it on yet
  24. Please tell me you haven't taken English I yet. That's the biggest train wreck I've read, bar none. I once told my english professor in response to a run-on sentence, "I'm so manly even my sentences don't have periods"
