I like that new nick name I understand what you're saying, and I agree 100% with the interlocking NT point you brought up- we're not going to use it and unfortunatly it isn't part of our new branding scheme. But, if the athletic department thinks the SOW will get more recognized from script on the helmet, I strongly disagree. I don't think the average sports fan, who might see one NT game a year on tv, will ever associate a script with the SOW logo. If the athletic department wanted to get transitioned into using the SOW, why didn't the put it as the midfield logo during the Troy game that was nationally televised at fouts? I just have a feeling the new white helmet will be around for 2 years and we'll change to something else in the near future, further confusing people. Do it the right way now, and we won't have to fix it in the future.

You're telling me we should stick with a block lettering of North Texas just so people know who we are? Are you kidding me!? Your logic doesn't make any sense... if we never use the SOW logo it doesn't matter if it's 10 or 30 years the general population will have no idea what it is and who it represents. If you don't like the eagle as our logo, that's fine your entitled to your opinion, but don't say we're using an athletic font because people can't recognize us. Doesn't UNT have one of the best visual art programs in the nation? What about advertising and comm. design? Wow, spelling out the school name really represents the universities creative and artistic side.

I want to have one helmet and use it for the next 40 years, but please don't use the block north texas on the helmet. It's not original and we'll end up changing it in 3 years because it looks like crap. Let's use something creative like the hybrid SOW with michigan wolverine looking helmet. That's distinct - virtually no one has a helmet like it, and people will recognize and remember it. I'm asking everyone to do me a favor, please e-mail RV or do something to boycott the block lettered helmets. We're looking for a design that people will see and automatically associate it with NT. We want something unique that stands out from the crowd, not a microsoft word looking font.

I really wish we would just use the same uniforms and the same logos and keep it that way, but for the love of god can we get rid of the block script? I don't mind the white helmets, but put some sort of a logo on it. My favorite so far was the Michigan wolverine look-a-like helmet using the son of the worm.

I like what the athletic department did this past season when they had a pep in the park across Clark Hall. Lots of food, music and I saw tons of students there. It would be cool to see that turn into a tradition, where everyone gathers the night before to root for our team. I also like getting free beer from beerman while tailgating. I know this doesn't really count as a tradition, but more importantly it involves free beer.

I remember almost falling asleep and then all of the sudden hearing some really weird noise out of his mouth with a weird expression on his face. That's really the only thing that kept me and the rest of the class awake.

I would think the biggest step for everybody is learning to run an efficient no huddle offense. I'm not sure how effecive this is going to be in college with better trained athletes, espicially against an OU team... our defense might be on the field for most of the game if things don't fall into place quickly. The blocking scheme should be fairly simple. You have the drop back pass protection, the RB draw and an occasional speed option.

Doesn't seem like we'd use our biggest donation in the history of NT athletics on a mere study to see if a new stadium is even possible. This is pure speculation, but they said we're putting baseball on the back burner for the next 4-5 years. I interpret this as we're getting very close to making the stadium a reality. If we weren't close to busting the stadium campaign wide open, we would instead go ahead and fund a cheaper baseball program to send a message that NT athletics is still growing.

I read that SMU will have to pay a huge amount of money to get the library. Regardless, that was an awesome article. Maybe RV can work some magic with the president. Who knows, Bush Field might sound pretty nice

What about a different scenerio: JMO has a lousy sophomore and junior year, but then in his senior year he wins the rushing title. Would he be considered hall of fame worthy then? I say yes. Regardless of the exact same statistics, he went out on top. It's how you remember the player, not necessarily how good he was.

I hope you won't fall off the bandwagon when we're not playing for a national championship next year . Why does everyone think TD can walk on water? He'll have a good game plan and has one of the best recruiting classes to date, but it's going to take time to integrate everyone into his system of play. We'll be lucky to be over .500 next year. Not Dodge's fault, it's just the card he's going to be dealt his first year.

I have no idea how much this would cost or if this has been brought up before... Would it be possible before the kick off to have gmg.com on the megatron as a sponsor before kickoff, as fans and students are coming into the stadium? Could we start a donation drive so when the season starts we might be able to do this? Imagine the sound of something like "gomeangreen.com presents the 2007 starting line up...." Like I said I have no idea of what this would cost, but I think it could really help spread the word about this forum to students/alumni who want to connect to the university. Personally, I don't know of a better source of information about what's going on at UNT (Although I'm not sure how accurate all of the info is ), and I know tons of others want to find more. For an avid fan, meangreensports.com just doesn't cut it. Essentially we'd be killing two birds with one stone. Get more people connected to this forum and get them more involved with the university, while at the same time paying a sort of donation to the athletics department.

That's what every private school says after they lose a recruit to a public school. Usually it's something like "I can't believe he would want to associate with those peons who don't pay over 100 grand for their college education" Or the SMU special "I can't believe we lost a recruit to NTSU, what an idiot. We never wanted him anyways. How could someone possibly not want to come here? Who cares that we haven't had a winning season in 20 years and we average 8k in attendance each year. We make up for that by tailgating in our Mercedes while sipping on brandy."

I would think if we were close to wrapping up big donations we would want to announce the official news as soon as possible to help with recruiting. It seems to me perfect timing for an announcement would have been last month as TD and company hit the roads hard talking to new recruits. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care what time of the year the announcement is made... just seems it would of made sense to get the news out as fast as allowed during recruiting season. One more thing: Why does everybody seem to think a new stadium announcement is looming around the corner? Has RV or anyone else personally said there will be announcement shortly or is this all just pure speculation?

SMU has a historic past, I just don't know if we would be able to get a high profile donor like G. Ford. I hope I'm wrong and I'm not trying to insult our school history, but I just don't see us getting this huge 'T. Boone Pickens' type of donor to step up any time soon. Also, I thought it was a rule we couldn't raise the stadium through a student fee. I thought I remembered someone saying it had to be through private donations.

This is pure speculation. Unless you've heard the word from someone who dated the cousin of a guy who's son knew RV, I have a hard time believing it. Btw, is Dickey going to be at the banquet?

It doesn't matter how bad we beat them, they will always be snobs and continue to disrespect us. But, watching their sour faces as they walk out of Fouts was pretty damn amusing... that almost made two years of bad football worth it
