  1. The one near TWU has had that deal for at least 2 years... I hope these bad boys are at least selling in Denton
  2. For any new users, this will save you a lot of time on reading this message board. 1. What the new stadium will look like 2. Will we ever build a new stadium 3. SMU conspiracy theory(s) 4. How big should the new stadium be 5. UNT is headed in the wrong direction despite record enrollment & higher test scores every year. Building a new stadium will fix this. 6. We don't care about what SMU thinks, but read their board anyway and post what they think here. 7. How awesome our recruiting class would be with a new stadium 8. Fouts sucks in everyway possible, we could have awesome attendance with that new stadium 9. A Quoner post that everyone has to reply to show how funny he is 10. Conference realignment/sunbelt sucks but we could have joined the WAC so the sunbelt isn't so bad after all. CUSA would be so awesome...
  3. Very true. I know a good alumus should never be a fair weathered fan, but it's very hard to get excited about seeing our 2-10 team play high profile teams like Florida International (is this the name of a university or airport?). Fouts/UNT in general has a lousy college football atmosphere when compared to the big boys. Most of the people tailgating don't go even into the games. Instead, they tune into the UT or OU game during our game! I feel very fortunate that we do have some die hard fans that will always be in the stadium cheering for the mean green. Until we are able to raise some serious capital, this is as good as it's going to get.
  4. I remember four years ago when I first heard of the new stadium they said the projected date was 2009... no one on this board even knows if we have 5% of the total money needed to start construction for the new stadium. I feel like Charley Brown attempting to kick a football every time I read one of these threads.
  5. I'm a recent graduate of NT and like most alumni I've had to move down to Dallas for work. I've really missed campus and all the development going on. Some of the best memories of my life were in Denton or involved the North Texas campus. (Hell, I even proposed to my fiance at the gazebo next to the administration building) I wanted to know if everyone could post one of their favorite pictures they have taken of our campus? Maybe that could help my post-college blues.
  6. Does anyone know how adding only 10k of seats could cost that much? I could understand the cost would be more if they were expanding an upper deck or something like that... are we planning on just using much cheaper supplies and materials for our stadium?
  7. I don't think all SMU alumni have a stick up their a$$... I've worked with several recent SMU alum and most of them are pretty good guys. The weekly 'UNT degree is equivalent to a highschool GED' post is really funny to me. My senior year I was offered 3 positions all from fortune 500 company's that paid well above the median average for new college grads (and all with high ranking UNT alumni recruiting) Finance majors rule.
  8. I've always liked Amon Carter. The upperdeck gives the feeling of a big time program, but the close-to-the-action lower tier still puts fans in the game. I would like to see UNT do something like that... have 15k stands on each sideline, a 5-7k upper deck, and the athletic center at one of the endzones. The other endzone can be a hill or left open for a future and cheaper stadium expansion. Besides Fouts being to far from the action, I think the sideline section of the stadium looks very high schoolish (each sideline seats around 10k?). By making each lower sideline section 15k would look much more impressive IMHO. http://graphics.fansonly.com/schools/tcu/g...agc-800x400.jpg I would love something like that! (If you know how to post images in a post please do)
  9. I'm really surprised that theres only 42 replies after several people have confirmed they've seen the new stadium drawings. I'm very eager to find out more.
  10. Is it just me or is the sunbelt getting much more media coverage this year? I've seen 4 games televised so far, and two of them were at sunbelt stadiums. After the games I've watched, I'm not sure if DD's teams really declined that much in his last years because the sunbelt has improved leaps and bounds. I know it's way to early in the season to really make judgement on this, but how do you think any of our four bowl team squads would fair against arky state, muts or troy this year? If we can patch up our defense, we will have very exciting conference play.
  11. In my opinion, troy is the only team that has a shot at being a ranked top 25 team in the next few years. If they didn't play 3 body bag games a year (which they can actually be competitive in) they could possibley be a TCU type squad. Hats off to troy, not only for scheduling another BigXII team at home on national television, but for also chalking up another win against a BCS conference for the sun belt.
  12. I've never seen so many people exciting about losing I predicted we would have about the same win-loss record as last year... I didn't think any of the players DD recruited would fit into the Dodgeball type offense, thus making this season a disaster. On top of that the sunbelt is getting better every year by leaps and bounds. But, I have been impressed with the night and day difference of the offense. If Dodge can fix the defense, imagine how good we could be in a few years when this freshmen class matures. This new class was hand picked to excel in the spread offense, unlike our players who are designed for a run based offense. So how am I excited after two straight loses? The fact that in a few years we could be in a shoot out with UT/OU/other big school that goes down to the fourth quarter. Who knows, maybe I'm just happy we don't have the 'we're not a major school, so if we have a winning season its a miracle' attitude that Dickey brought
  13. After seeing us do well in the first quarter, and seeing OU destroy miami things are really starting to look positive. I would love to do nothing more than to hang 60 points on SMU to get that bitter taste out of my mouth from Oklahomo.
  14. Is he going to make the squad and how is his practice going in miami? Anyone know?
  15. You might be a mean green fan if all you talk about is how much you hate SMU because every mistake our administration has evermade was somehow their fault.
  16. I think you're dead with the party atmosphere... going to the number 1 party school + being recognized on the nations most followed football teams = a great time. Even if you don't get much playing time, you can still brag to your friends and kids that you played football at UT/other big time program. Unfortunately you could be a 4 year starter here and people probably wouldn't be as impressed.
  17. You're right on the money with the student fees. My g/f is in the SGA and has talked to other senators about creating a fee for it. Sadly, she said 90% of the senators disagreed and thought it was a stupid idea... and this is coming from people who are INVOLVED with the university, not just the typical apathetic student. But don't worry, I'll work hard at getting that 40M so I can put the new stadium in my name =P
  18. I've haven't been to many NT road games because of school, but FAU and FIU stadiums look big enough for a pee wee football game, and Malone Stadium of ULM looks like it might rival Fouts for being the crappiest standing structure in the south. I personally like Troy's Movie Gallery stadium and Arkie State's Indian Stadium. For all of you that have been to a lot of road games, who has the best stadium, atmosphere, etc.?
  19. That's not the way it was handled where I went to school (I graduated HS in 2003), we had fights in the football locker rooms about once a week and the coaches didn't even really seem to care. However, my senior year they really began to get strict on hazing freshmen.
  20. DD ran a 4-3 back then, wasn't until a few seasons ago he made the switch when our d-line was depleted
  21. "The shootings came three days after a bomb threat Friday forced the cancellation of classes in three buildings, WDBJ in Roanoke reported. Also, the 100,000-square-foot Torgersen Hall was evacuated April 2 after police received a written bomb threat, The Roanoke Times reported." VT also had an officer killed outside the campus less than a year ago... very tragic events, my prayers are with the students and their families.
  22. I've said this before, but one guarenteed way to schedule a 1:1 or 2:1 series with these type of schools is to bring a big fan base to those road games. If we can put an extra 10-15k in their stands, any mid-major or low Big XII team will want to play us.
  23. A quick question to Harry or another admin on this board - can you program a counter of the average words per PMG posts... or maybe the number of times per month he makes reference to a new stadium in his posts I'm just kidding PMG, I wish most students/alumni were as passionate as you about NT athletics.
  24. Just seeing if anyone else went to the party last night at Traditions field. Overall it was a pretty good turn out, my estimate would be about 1,000-2,000 people. Also saw RV and some other big shots from the university wondering around in the biggest tent I have ever seen before... I think RV was about to go crowd surfing during bowling for soup's show, but I'm not sure Also, anyone seen the newly finished library mall? It looks awesome, and I got pictures that will be posted later this weekend for those of you who can't make it up to Denton.
