  1. We were the only OOC victory for the belt, but holy crap anyone see the troy vs florida state score?!? ULM almost beat kansas and FIU lost by one point to South Florida. Very proud of the belt this week, each year the belt progressively gets better. I would really like to see us get a good rivalry going with Troy, they are going to be very good in the near future.
  2. what do you expect, win or lose they're not going to give us credit and never will. We took care of business on the field, I'm extra proud to wear green around town tonight
  3. Pretty funny stuff, to quote one SMU fan "FU BENNET AND FU SMU FOOTBALL". Oh the roller coaster ride that is college football. Just curious, what does everyone think of DD right now? (I did dog him this week, just curious about your opinions now after one game)
  4. I went to it, it was awesome. Live bands, free food, RV came out and talked a little bit. It seemed alot more than 500 but maybe I'm wrong. Great job by the atheletic department to get the new freshmen and rest of the student body excited about football.
  5. I was hoping this was some kind of cruel joke... You never know whats going to happen, just ask kurt warner. Maybe after Cobbs makes the pro bowl in a few seasons this series of events will make a good story
  6. Illuvius, I know you go to team practices and follow the team more closely than most on this board so with all due respect how can you say Philips didn't get totally out performed. Wilson went 5/6 passing with his first year in this offense. Phillips has had a year with playing experience. The right QB won't emerge in one game, but Wilson really showed he's on the right path. Phillips had some chances to make big plays against Texas too. On a play inside the 20 he got good protection, but just threw it into double coverage which was almost picked in the end zone. I like your support for the team and support for DD. I'm trying to do the same and want to wait until the OOC schedule to judge his performance. It's hard though, coming off of a devastating season and facing the some of the same exact problems that haven't been fixed coming into this one.
  7. KingDL1, I agree with for the most part about DD. He's an average coach. It's that simple. In a few years he'll have the program back to 7-5, but it won't ever really get better than that in my opinion. Every 3-4 years you'll have the rebuilding season like we had last season (Could also be this season). You don't go to four bowl games by getting lucky, he will have this team above .500 come the next few seasons. He also won't ever win a large % of OOC games or ever get a 10 game win season. He's just average. For some that may be acceptable, but I want someone who can get progressively better and take us to the next level.
  8. I'm not understanding this at all. In my opinion, Wilson was the only bright side of our horrific offense play. I'm trying to give Dickey the benefit of the doubt, maybe Phillips had a fantastic week at practice. Even if that is the case, Wilson has the potential to become a star and has shown come game time he can perform. One more thing and I want everyone to read this and tell me how this makes sense: “There was no reason to change the rotation,” Dickey said. Phillips started Game 1 against Texas and finished with 22 yards passing If we lose I will officially already lost my patience with DD this season.
  9. Miami Offense has only 5 starters that attended BCS schools, also a starter from a sun belt school Pittsburg defense has only 4 starters that attended BCS schools I'm tired of people assuming mid majors and D-II schools don't produce good athletes, 2/3 of the defending champions defense proves otherwise.
  10. In the past I've never had to set up tail gating, I usually just show up at 2 at a friends truck who's already there. This year I'm going to have to reserve the space myself. About what time in the morning will I have to get there for a good spot?
  11. Lots of bad posts since the UT loss, but on a positive I was jogging around campus yesterday afternoon on an absolutley beautiful day and noticed how much the campus has improved since I first saw it in early 2003. The library mall installed the new fountain, currently has another one being built near the south entrance (the bubbling waterfall fountain) and a sculpture is also being planned to be added near Willis library. The whole campus is more vibrant and colorful thanks in part to the landscaping crew. Also Avenue C looks great with the along with the new health and wellness center being built. Two new dorms being built with plans to start building a new business building next year. In my opinion the University has improved the campus ten fold since I've been here. For alot of you coming to the game Saturday from out of town I'm sure alot of you will be impressed.
  12. Hats off to RV for getting us a great winnable schedule with good regional opponents. Now DD has to deliver, no excuses. We don't deserve to be in CUSA if we can't compete with them in OOC games.
  13. It's hard to gauge just how good/bad this team is going to be. I think SMU is going to be a benchmark of how good we are. Judging on last years performances they are arguably our easiest OOC opponent but a little better than the belt.
  14. From the TCU games that I have watched in the past few seasons, this was a pretty classic example of how they play. They are always well coached and conditioned. They never really break a game open but always manage to stay in it at the same time.
  15. Not if Baylor keeps shooting theirselves in the foot. Win or lose no way TCU belongs in the top 25.
  16. You NEW you were going to win? The english department at ASU is be mighty proud!
  17. The posters on GMG will gather into a mob and run DD out of town.
  18. Thats a good assessment but we've had two bowl teams that didn't even score against UT. For that I bumped it up to a D-
  19. I agree with you emmit. I understand alot of you are disapointed with a huge loss but you have to be realistic here. You don't go from 2-9 to almost beating the defending national champions. This is a team who blew out just about every big XII opponent they faced. Yesterday we took a small step in the right direction. The key is we have to keep going in that direction. Lets wait until we've playe the rest of our OOC schedule, if we keep improving and beat a few teams (SMU, Tulsa or La Tech) thats a major improvement in my opinion.
  20. First off, thank god its football season again. The game was pretty much what I expected and was a vintage Darrell Dickey season opener. The Defense: B+ I know most of you are saying they hung 56 points on us how can we get a B+? Our offense and special teams were FLAT OUT TERRIBLE in the first half. Besides the first series, it seemed like every drive of their's started at our 35 yard line. If we could of moved the ball and at least killed some clock I think we're looking at a 17-0 deficit at the half, not bad considering the UT offense. Add in the lack of offense, them running up the score, and us giving up in the 4th quarter and I don't see them scoring 56. This game could of been a much lower scoring contest, but again it was a Dickey season opener. The Offense: D- Our offense didn't exist in the first half. We did sustain one drive and score, and to me that was classic Dickey offense. Run the ball and compliment it with the mid to deep passing game. I really feel that our offense revolves around JaMario Thomas but relies on our QB. Without the 20-30 yard pass and the occasional 5 yard slant we can't run the ball effectively. We need Wilson to step up next week against SMU. Special Teams: D- Blocked field goals and their punt returns killed us. UT has much more depth so this didn't come as a huge shocker that they would dominate special teams. I was impressed with our punter though. Other comments: Wilson has the potenial to be a star. He needs to learn that theres a time when to throw the ball away and when to scramle. In the Dickey offense we can't afford to get in a 2nd and 20. I can't wait to see what his speed will do to a slower SMU defense, and if he can get the passing game going the speed option out of the shotgun will be lethal with him and JT.
  21. If this is in part because of the blowout loss to texas: This is from a team last year who blew out colorado 70-3. I don't care if Vince Young isn't there. Limas Sweed and their receivers are incredible, both lines on each side of the ball is arguably the best in the nation. Secondly, I don't know that we could hire anyone better than RV for the money we're paying him. He's made a night and day difference here, and it's going to keep progressing.
  22. Buffolo - victors of the tiolet bowl Is this there first when in two seasons? I know temple didn't win a game last year, we need to schedule them in a OOC. On another note: Didnt the cowboys pick Vanderjagt over our kicker Bazeldua. I want to run Vanderjagt out of town with an angry mob and a beating stick. The big tuna really needs to check baz, a kicker who can finally get it done for the boys.
  23. I didn't realize the tiolet bowl was being played tonight... man what an exciting game
  24. I believe our logistics team won some type of national debate either last year or 2 years ago.
  25. I would just like us to actually use a logo on the helmet. No script, block print of north texas, etc. Put our best looking logo on the helmet, which in my opinion is the son of the worm. I'm not a big fan of white on white btw, but I'm also not a big fan of the green top and green pants either.
