  1. Agree that a player should be judged not only by the competition but the quality of his team against that competition. Let's hope he gets to prove himself in the NFL. How do players get selected for the Senior Bowl? It seems like he would have been invited and I hope this is not a bad sign for him being selected in the draft.
  2. Water kept seeping through the floor causing two players to take serious falls (one of each team). I think they said the basketball floor was placed on top of another floor at the convention center so they moved it to UTRGV campus to finish the game the following day.
  3. Struggled with shooting for part of the 2nd half, but came back strong to extend the lead again and get the easy win. Three players in double figures. Need to work on beating the zone which caused some problems for a while. Tough to play a game over two days....1st quarter yesterday and the rest of the game today. Tournament game against Prairie View scheduled for today cancelled due to the court condition causing the suspension of the game yesterday and completion today. Traveling all the way to South Texas to play UTA...GMG
  4. I wonder how much the upcoming conference schedule of back-to-back games has to do with this and the playing time for everyone. Also I think I heard on the broadcast that Wise was still recovering from a knee injury that occurred the end of last season and other health issues, so maybe that explains his limited playing time and being brought back slowly. Not sure of Jackson's situation. I seem to remember that Robinson and Jackson played the previous game, but I might be wrong on that. Will be interested in seeing if playing time changes as the conference opener comes closer. I think our depth will be extremely important this year with the conference schedule and the Covid-19 situation. Here's hoping we don't have the same problem at UH has!
  5. What a pleasure to watch...sorry this Covid-19 season kept so many fans from watching him in person. I have been watching good receivers since the days of Ron Shanklin, who was another great one to watch, but Mr. Darden is not only talented but has shown perseverance and mental toughness to utilize his talents to max. Wonderful story and here's hoping he gets a chance in the NFL to show his stuff! Need next man up to become an elite receiver...GMG!
  6. This is true. UNT has great resources. And dyslexia has nothing to do with one's intelligence. People with dyslexia have a different learning style and many highly intelligent people have had dyslexia, including Albert Einstein. With the emphasis on brain research, so much more is now known and so many more resources are available to students. Does anyone know what Jamario is doing these days?
  7. If it comes down to Bean vs Aune next year for the starter, which one has the best leadership skills and which one does the team have the most confidence in? I think that factors into the decision as well as the physical attributes unless one of the two shows major improvement in those area next year.
  8. I think it just depends on where the person posts it...hopefully WBB will be posted on the Basketball fprum
  9. No way! Surely there are other coaches out there that Wren has on a list who have a record of winning without the baggage. I am not in favor of winning at all costs.
  10. Glad to finally see Women's Basketball topics under "Basketball" rather than "Other Athletics" as in the past. It was like Women's Basketball was not even recognized as Basketball at all. The Women's team puts on a good show...come out and see them sometimes! GMG
  11. Things that irk me the most about our games....poor tackling, stupid penalties, running on long yardage downs....seems like solving these issues fall under the responsibilities of the coaches and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. If these don't improve next year, it is time to clean house! Enough patience from the fandom!
  12. Any memories of this group with MeanRob at the helm @PlummMeanGreen
  13. I remember the group that wore the lime green jacket, but I was referring to the group that I believe Rob started. It was purely a fan-based group and didn't require a large donation or have any ties to anyone in the athletic department, as I remember. I think it was mostly made up of fans like me who would not have had the money at the time to get that lime green jacket!
  14. Thanks for the memory jogger...I definitely remember Rob.
  15. PlummMeanGreen has been posting some "oldies, but goodies" from past years in UNT Sports. That got me to thinking about the original Mean Green Club. If I remember correctly it was a fan-organized, fan-run, and fan-based group and was not part of the Athletic Department. A few young guys (at least they were then) were the organizers...can't remember their names, but maybe Harry and Adler were part of the group? Many of us joined and the guys did a great job in helping get fan support for UNT sports. Any of the rest of you "old timers" remember more than I do about this group, how it got started, who were the leaders, and when it disbanded?
  16. Those were fun days with exciting teams to watch...looks like Coach McCasland may be bringing us back to the same level. Hopefully we will be able to have a season to watch this year and keep up our momentum...on to the NCAA tournament this time after we win the conference championship!
  17. I have done the same thing since the stadium opened. I prefer watching the game from the lower bowl seats than the club seats. About the only time I sit in my club seats is if it is raining since my club seats are under the overhang by the windows. I do enjoy going up early for the buffet and visiting with people, but when the game starts it is down in Section 105 for me and my friends. In my opinion a much better view and game experience! GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. Noticed Clayton Tune of Houston was ranked #72
  19. Enjoyed the interview...very well spoken and had some nice things to say about his North Texas teammates
  20. Never mind. I just realized you have to sign in to have that link show.
