  1. Missed all those New Years bowls from SDSU, AState, LA Tech & Memphis.
  2. Anyone who down votes a post about winning isn't a fan.
  3. Waiting for evidence of any mid-major program what has sustained its football success over 5 years, let alone an entire conference. Boise had a good run, but didn't last a coaching change. So why do you care about a conference that your not in and don't play teams from?
  4. This is the same message board that wanted Dodge, so maybe STFU.
  5. Non-sequitur and non-responsive. No doubt the AAC going to 14 was a great move on there part to block the MWC from coming into Texas and to have hedge in case more teams jump to the Big 12. Not to mention the added side effect of killing off CUSA. All of which are reasons they went to 14 over 12, and we are very glad they did, because as #13 and #14 we got lucky.
  6. UAB was 1st by a mile. RICE was a lock via relationships with the other private schools and the Houston Market. Charlotte & FAU fit the Eastern needs. UNT and UTSA were very lucky. UNT did the absolute best marketing will all the credit going to foresight to hire the consultant two years ago.
  7. UNT is very lucky to not be in LA Tech's place. If the AAC had stopped at 12, I don't think we would have made the cut. LA Tech should be trying to cut a deal with the SBC. WKY and MTSU with the MAC. With UTEP as the odd man out. I can't see the media rights to the new CUSA being worth it to keep the conference going.
  8. This is a complete crackpot theory. There is no reason CUSA would name AAC it's successor or any way the ACC could claim CUSA's assets. The minimum 6 teams is to stay an FBS conference. CUSA as an organization can continue to exist and still collect the exit fees. The only way CUSA is going to agree to mutually dissolve and not collect exit fees is if everyone finds a home. And right now UTEP, LA Tech, and FIU are going to take the exit fees as they face Independent status or an FCS downgrade.
  9. Pssst. The AAC announced it already. And yes, it customary when exiting a conference to begin resigning from those conference leadership roles.
  10. Simple question, as a FAN what your you looking forward to the most in the AAC? I'll start, New Orleans road games.
  11. Guess that settles it. It's time to shut up and play better.
  12. I guess we need to post this again. It's pretty tacky to start piling on schools excluded from the expansion (Just like some people on this board continue to demean the Sun Belt). UNT is one of the worst teams in D1 football right now and would not have made the cut if the AAC went to 12. So let's show a little class, celebrate our win, and not start making a list of other programs shortcomings.
  13. I would quit counting our chickens before we know the terms of the AAC deal. Nothing says we are getting a full rights share right away. "The American Athletic Conference has received applications from six schools hoping to join the conference, and the AAC is expected to send them each a formal letter by the end of the week detailing the terms of expansion, a source with knowledge of the process told ESPN on Tuesday."
  14. The collect their $18M in exit fees. There is no rush to do anything different before 2023.
  15. Sure in 2023. The remaining CUSA schools are going to hang out and collect the $18M in exit fees. After that, they will look at an alliance/merger with the SBC. It does not make sense of a school like Southern Miss to pay CUSA exits fees, SBC entrance fees, and not collect the ACC 6's exit fees.
  16. I guess we need another reminder.
  17. I'll post this here too.
  18. I love the confidence in this post, while at the same time admitting (and demonstrating) that this poster doesn't know anything about media rights.

  20. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/32432496/six-schools-officially-apply-join-american-athletic-conference I was getting a little nervous that ESPN has not reported on the story. Looks like they waited until they could independently confirm the story. "The American Athletic Conference has received applications from six schools hoping to join the conference, and the AAC is expected to send them each a formal letter by the end of the week detailing the terms of expansion, a source with knowledge of the process told ESPN on Tuesday. Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, North Texas, UTSA, Rice and UAB have each officially requested to join the AAC, a move that was first reported by Yahoo Sports on Monday. It's the first step in the realignment process, which is expected to move quickly this week after the university presidents and their general counsels have time to review the terms."
  21. Not a news source, They did zero original reporting. This is just another fan reaction piece. Notice how ESPN took all day to report the story because they had to confirm it.
  22. Because they have to. Why do people on this board go so hard for spin.
  23. And how do you think the remaining CUSA members are going to vote to use the exit money. They are going to Pay themselves. The remaining CUSA will most likely wait until they get their exit cash, then look to merge with the SBC after 2023.
  24. The remaining CUSA schools are getting $18M in exit fees. They are in no hurry to merge with the SBC.
