  1. Fair enough. Maybe not catch but prevent the INT? I am looking at it from the perspective that Wilson doesn’t have job security and probably needs to do all the little things right to keep getting signed. Not trying to be too tough on the guy but have to be realistic that there are tons of talented RBs in the league.
  2. Hmm. Mixed game for him. A couple of good runs but maybe should’ve had that TD catch.
  3. I didn’t realize Darden had eclipsed 1000 yards. Wow.
  4. Sounds like we also need to promote our walk-on program.
  5. Exactly. Bring in a good athlete with a desire to win and they will earn a spot somewhere.
  6. No way. Wasn’t interested before and I think the Wallis situation reinforces why taking a chance on a tarnished coach ain’t worth it.
  7. Maybe Torrey is coming back? Smith can’t be considering that since he has been an afterthought since his freshman year. No idea, just a guess. Torrey isn’t getting drafted or picked up as a UDFA by the NFL this year so maybe he is going to put in another year and hope for better conditions next year?
  8. Not really. Top 10 in yards but 30 in points per game. 33 ppg is good but not elite and we all know how many of those were against backups in blowouts or the first game against FCS. Against first team defenses we are not averaging 33 for sure. We also never get off to a good start on offense (or defense). We are an average and predictable offense.
  9. Have to assume Nic Smith getting carries had to do with it being his last game at home? I am one arguing that this year doesn’t count in some ways but I am very concerned about this D. So the question is, fire Bowen and start over again or let him move to a more consistent 4-man front (possible given the recruiting at DT) and see what happens?
  10. Perhaps a playing calling OC/QB coach
  11. A little update on our little upstart, science denying friends in Lynchburg, VA.
  12. And given that most are in sunny states that aren’t really managing the pandemic well, that might be the right call. Attendance won’t help the communities and viewers don’t care much about minor bowls.
  13. @HarryI voted concerned but in some ways the poll could have used one more option: “I don’t know what to think bc COVID is such a wildcard and this season barely counts.” That is my real vote. If this was a “real” season I would be completely freaking out. I am concerned but I also understand some of the struggles. For example this week we have a freshman WR in the 2-deep in the secondary, a FB/TE at backup LB, and one DB backing up 2-3 positions in the secondary! It’s just crazy.
  14. There is part of me that thinks picking up a late game for experience is a good idea. Also a part of me that thinks it isn’t worth all the money, testing, virus exposure, and possible cancellation. “At the end of the day” I think we take what we got and hunker down and hope for spring practice.
  15. I was thinking about this question bc I knew it would be the response to my post. I have two answers. Men should not compete in women’s sports if it would give a competitive advantage (or vice versa if applicable). So for example, I don’t think anyone can say that Ms. Fuller has an advantage playing football because she is a woman, correct? And since she has no NCAA women’s football, there is no other option should she want to play and the coaches deem her able. Which brings me to my second point. Almost every sport the NCAA governs that I saw has either a M/W split or an equivalent sport. So for the above, no a man should not play softball because there is baseball as a men’s sport in college. And although NT doesn’t have men’s volleyball or baseball, dozens (hundreds?) of other universities do so and one can transfer to play if able and the coaches want you. No option for football. There are some other exceptions that I saw on my quick scan, for example I believe sand volleyball and perhaps bowling are only for women. But if we are all intellectually honest with ourselves, we can admit those sports primarily exist for Title IX balance because of the massive weight of football scholarships. (That is a different argument but I will remind that the pros manage to play the foosball with around 55 on the roster so...) So in summation, there are few opportunities where a woman would need to compete in a men’s sport and even fewer opportunities to actually achieve it, so what is the harm? Teams bring in male soccer or Australian rules football players to kick/punt sometimes, so why not Ms. Fuller if she has the ability, will accept the risks, and can’t attempt her craft in any other way? And on the flip side, most male athletes have the appropriate sport for their interest and ability levels, so there would be little to no need to do so, and if they proposed to do it, in all likelihood if would present an unfair advantage. Just my thoughts. PS These thoughts are about her playing not the OP topic of earning POTW honors. That is a different topic but I get they wanted to recognize the moment.
