  1. Yeah, you provide a ton of insight around here.

  2. Oh, darn....got me with that one...I admit it...I must have missed that ONE really pointed question in my multiple years of attendance at both the BB and FB shows. I guess one such question every three or four years signifies folks are really queuing up with those hot sports questions. So, one "non-answer" scares off everyone from pelting these folks with pointed questions? Wow...must have learned surrender techniques from the French Army. Either that or that one non-answer was really really scary. Come on...tough guys... Hang in there...keep asking until you get the answer you want. It would definitely spice up the shows and up the attendance and radio ratings. Could you enlighten the uninformed as to just what his "non-answer" might have been? Or, was it just not the answer you were looking for at the time? I don't know as I missed it. May have been out if town or in the men's room for that one. Like everyone I am interested in this 6-game schedule thingy. Yes...we all know you live a few counties away. Understand, but you have said countless and countless times that you don't care. Why are you not caring so much as to post numerous times each day?

  3. Interesting....I do not recall ever seeing five of the six prior posters in attendance when the shows started at 6pm or 7pm. Didn't we already have a thread dedicated to this change? Could...could...the change in any way be related to when the stations were available to carry the show or what and when sponsors wanted the show to air? You all know attendance was not great last season, so perhaps they are trying something new....like the Alumni's Young Professional Noon luncheons in Dallas that drew large crowds. Large enough that the AD said we drew more than the evening coaches caravan in Dallas and that he might try a noon Caravan schedule. Attendees were not "retirees" as well, but rather young (and not so young) business professionals. Perhaps it is a look-see at deciding if noon works. TWU holds their quarterly athletic events at noon in Denton as well, and they are well attended...I have attended a couple. They are held at Outback in Denton. Could it be that the coaches requested this move to better fit their coaching and recruiting schedules and the schedules of the student-athletes who often come to be part of the program. Could it be that Rudy's asked to try this to see if it helps with their lunch business? Rudy's has been a great partner for UNT with the BB and FB shows...just maybe they asked for a favor. I don't know. But, the possibility exists as much as any of the possibilities suggested. You know, in business it is a truism that you need to change and try new things to be successful. Maybe UNT is just trying something different. Anyway...whatever the reason I will miss a couple of the "regulars" who drove up from Carrollton and Lewisville for the shows each week. I feel bad for them, and will keep their seats warm until they can get back for a show. It will be interesting to see after three or four weeks if this time slot catches any traction. If it does great...if not..lOK...maybe it can be moved back to a later time or another day.

  4. You say it was a lie, but do you know that he wasn't working to move a game? You assume that he was just lying to avoid a tough answer, but you have no evidence that was the case, just your own personal opinion. He did not guarantee that the game would be moved, he said that they were attempting to move it. Be mad at him for creating the situation where the schedule has the two away games, but don't project anger that he knowingly lied when you simply have no evidence that was the case.

  5. I feel so bad for our basketball players now. They got so screwed by this. Not only do they have to play for Benford, but now they can't walk to Mickey D's after the game to drown their sadness in McNuggets.

  6. Have y'all never been to Rudy's for lunch? It's f'ing packed then. Just.... not with UNT sports fans.

  8. I'm finishing up my comic, which should be printed in the next few months. If anyone is interested, I have a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo: http://igg.me/p/rock-star-high-comic-book-comedy-satire-parody/x/9567559 It's really funny (at least, I think so) and I hope it stands out as a comedy comic since there are so many superhero and horror comics but not many actual humor ones out there. So if you know anybody who might be interested, I'd totally appreciate it if you passed this on. Sorry if this breaks any "solicitation" rules, but I'm just so excited to finally get rolling...!

  9. Not true. One brave soul stood up and asked RV if we would have 6 home games in football in 2015. And RV gave a non-answer. Tell me, when pointed questions are asked and the response is political style non-answers, why bother attending? Not to mention I live 3 counties away and am not going to drive to Denton for the coach show of a program that is mired in decades of self-loathing with no end on the horizon.

  10. 91.7 is a fun random escapade into terrestrial radio for me. You never know what you're gonna get on there. It could be anything. Anything at all. Talk radio is just plain dead. It's either "pundits" shouting about the demise of America on the AM dial or giggling and fart jokes on the ticket. I repeat that Russ Martin has never actually spoken on the air. Not one time. I'd go on drives from Frisco to Mansfield, in traffic, tuned in to 105.3 and hear nothing but stoner giggling and bottle caps. I have no idea what the appeal is. None. At all. Jack FM is super benign, almost like listening to nothing at all, but with the white noise covered up. The edge plays whiny shit. I would probably like it if I were still 19 years old, but my problems have nothing to do with an ex girlfriend giving me my records back in a whiny voice, so not interested. Mostly, if I'm gonna be in the car for more than thirty minutes, I'm plugging the phone in and playing Spotify. There is no radio that I "follow" in my old age. I also lament that I drove 1,500 miles in December and found that radio stations have become completely uniform. Jack FM is Jack FM everywhere. The Edge is The Edge everywhere. Much harder to hear regional radio anymore, and having grown up in the San Francisco market, then moving down to San Diego and Los Angeles (where, dude, the talent really does rise to the top), I appreciated the differences. Those just no longer exist.

  11. My guess is that in contract negotiations, things like radio show stipend and car allowance are provided to up total compensation, but are not part of base salary, and therefore are not subject to being part of a contract buyout. I am not a lawyer. Do not take this as advice. It is merely a guess.

  12. They should be able to throw big money at him--they get plenty from the rest of the Big 12 schools that achieved something this year and from their tv contract. UH finds out, yet again, that the G5 left-behinds are not those in conferences below theirs...the mirror shows them in the picture, too.

  14. The thing I hate about The Ticket is how Junior Miller publicly mocked the program and even dismissed the competence of RV. Can you believe it?

  16. As previously stated by NT03, they have our record wrong. They counted the Nicholls win twice. It has us at 5-8, but we should actually be 4-8, since they don't count wins against non D1 opponents (6-8 with 2 wins being against non D1 opponents Ark-Monticello and Langston). I would think that would lower our RPI, but I'm not sure.

  17. Thank you. It'll be only the third time I'll have listened to the local a.m. bad comedy channel in 15 years. Dr. Mercer is a great man. Rick

  18. Growing up is hard. I will give Benford credit in pretty consistently taking the high road in these situations.

  19. Well we know of 2 at least, right? I question the whole radio show thing anyways. If a coach is going to do a show, fine. But why pay him for it? Isn't Mac getting $20-$30k for this? What's Benny getting? Seems like a waste of money. We're certainly not getting anything in return for it, and very little information. Rick

  20. His answer was along the lines of "we are working on it and always have a goal to have 6 home games," knowing the whole time that he was putting off an inevitable announcement. So it really wasn't a political answer so much as it was an outright lie. Should people ask questions just to be lied to? Is that why we should attend and cause a tense situation by asking RV questions that RV's boss should be asking him? Yep, slowly caring less and less about basketball every day, but it's kinda like a car wreck at this point. It's hard not to look at the carnage.

  21. Of all the others who have said they don't like the Ticket I'm the one you chose to respond to. I'm honored. You know I can't stand the Ticket and why. It's nothing to do with you of course. But that aside, seriously, it's good to see you posting here again. Rick
