C-USA is beating Big East to the punch

Anyway, C-USA has Marshall, East Carolina, UAB, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, Rice and UTEP. The Mountain West counters with UNLV, Air Force, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada and Hawaii (football only).

Notice anything?

Only five schools are located east of the Mississippi River.

That doesn't bode well for Marshall, East Carolina, UAB, Southern Miss and Tulane as far as travel expenditures are concerned. That's why I believe the new league needs to add two more eastern-based members.

My recommendations are Temple and Florida International.

Temple brings historically competitive basketball, improving football and the coveted Philadelphia television market. FIU provides a Florida connection, which Marshall coach Doc Holliday and his football peers all covet, and the lucrative Miami TV market.

That story cracks me up. There isn't one school in the CUSA that wouldn't jump to the Big East. People are always making fun of the Big East but it's a more compact conferecne than the CUSA/MWC alliance will be. If I was Marshall I would want no part of the alliance. I'd be fighting to convert CUSA into a regional conference by trying to take the best of the Sun Belt to rebuild the conference and get UTEP to go to the MWC.
