Broussard Is One Shot Behind In The Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic

LANTANA, Tex. (9/12/05) – North Texas sophomore Anthony Broussard fired a two-round score of 3-under par and sits just one shot behind the leaders after the first day of the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic from Lantana Country Club. .

Broussard had seven birdies in the first two rounds and is in a three-way tie for third place, just one shot behind the leaders Andrew Ross of Arkansas State and Ricky Romano of Houston.

As a team the Mean Green are in eighth place after a two-round score of 589.

“Anthony went out there and played great today, but as a team we still left some shots out on course,” said North Texas head coach Jim Bob Jackson. “There is still a lot of room for improvement and I’m going to be looking for that in the third round”.

Broussard fired an opening round of 1-under par 71 and followed that up with a second round of 2-under 70.

Individually for North Texas red-shirt freshman Harris Graham is alone in 17th place after at 1-over par 145, after posting a first round score of 72 and a 1-over 73 second round score.

Sophomore Raul Lemus is one shot behind Grahman at 146 after posting a 2-under second round of 70.

KT Livingston is 33rd with a two-round score of 149 and Austin Welch is two shots back at 151. Ben Smock and Jason Lindgren are both tied at 152 while Andreas Kali fired a two-round score of 153.

Jacksonville State leads the team competition with a 572 and will carry a five-shot lead into the final round.

Play begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start from Lantana Country Club.
