  1. Adler refered to our friends in Dallas as S. Methodist. I have always rankled at S. Methodist using NTSU instead of UNT. So with thanks to Adler for the idea and meaning no disrespect to my own Methodist upbringing, I will from now on refer to that other school in dallas as "So Meth" or simply "Meth." I hope Collin has a great year on a team that loses every game.
  2. No Kool-Ade talk here. If...If North Texas were to knock off Kansas tonight, would we break the top 25 ?
  3. I don't think the board is "anti-Canales" I'm not Hire him
  4. First, I really enjoyed having the players bring out the Conference Champ banner, the Tourney Champ banner, and the NCAA banner. They (the players) really seemed to take pride and ownership in the raising of the banners. The Phi Mu Alpha Men's music frat provided one of the very best versions of the National Anthem I've ever heard. The NT Dancers are always terriffic. And last night they were followed by the Green Brigade Drum Line. They not only put on their regular top flight show, but also seemed to play the melody, on DRUMS, to some popular song. (I don't know the name, but Srappy dances to it regularly. Says something about Tonto and Kem O'Sommy) The game was the game. I enjoyed the win especially since it was against a high profile Texas team. Big 12 at that. Last night provided the best case for why North Texas fans should wear GREEN and only GREEN. Fans wearing black could have been NT supporters or Tech supporters. But the best part was the North Texas fans and especially the students. I suspect that many if not most, had never been to a North Texas game before. They were loud and did all the things a great college croud is supposed to do. When Tech tried to mount a chant, the Pit Crew was quick to respone with the "North-Texas, North-Texas" chant. Storming the floor after the win, probably not really called for. Bt maybe some of those fans will come back and expect more of the same. the student fans, the Pit Crew, add so much to the game day experience. I don't know where they've been, but I'm sure glad to have them back. Thanks Pit Crew GO MEAN GREEN
  5. There used to be a overhead scoreboard at mid-court. I certainly wouldn't call it a jumbo-tron or even a tron, but it was there for 20 or 30 years.
  6. Yeah, but I'd hate to call it "Lose until we Win Mill" Stadium.
  7. I like it. WIN MILL STADIUM Yep. I like it. Although I still like RV PARK
  8. I just never thought I'd ever see a topic with this name
  9. Wouldn't it be wierd if they hired Canales.
  10. I'm a believer. Hire Canales.
  11. Has North Texas ever played a Mike Leach coached Texas Tech ?
  12. Emmitt, I agree with you. And I don't. I really like Coach Canales. I've met him and I think he'd do a good job at NT. Here's my problem. For the most part, North Texas has hired "up and coming" assistants. There have been 2 exceptions. Bob Tyler, former head man at Mississippi State, and Hayden Fry, former head coach at SMU. Bob Tyler is forgetable as he was only here for one season. Hayden Fry is a legend. People still use him as the "gold standard" of head football coaches at North Texas. The rest of the former assistant coaches have lackluster. Corkey Nelson had some success here, but most have been .500 at best. I'm afraid if we go with the "up and coming" assistant again, we'll be back where we've always been. I'd like to try something new. And hopefully get something we've not had before...or lt least not in a long time...a winning tradition. I'd be happy with Mike Canales. If he succeeds, who cares. If he is not successful, I'd alswys wonder what might have been. GO MEAN GREEN
  13. I feel better with Riley at QB under Canales than I did with Riley at QB under Dodge. I saw him Saturday night and he did all he could with 14 or 15 Trojans rushing every play.
  14. We don't need a new opera house. We can't fill the one we've got. (hehe)
  15. That photo makes you want to abandon the shotgun formation forever doesn't it ?
  16. I think coach Canales is the only "non-head" coach I want to consider.
  17. Easy on that "almost 60" stuff. Sign Fran now. Hope he is so successful that a higher paying program hires him away from us. And all we're left with is a winning tradition that other head coaches are wanting to interview for.
  18. Coach Fran equals instant credibility equals a constant presence in Dallas and Ft. Worth newspapers.
  19. When the stadium if finished, let's build a bobsled run.
  20. Coach Canales biggest problem is that his last name isn't Leach or Francione. If he can win 3 of the last 5 his last name may be enough.
  21. One of my favorite North Texas collectibles, the game program from the Baylor game (sometimes refered to as the john horrocks All-World game). On the cover is a picture of Coach Blakeley "chocking" himself with his tie to show the refs that they were chocking by making the wrong call. I sent it to him some years later and he autographed it for me. My wife loved to go to the games just to watch Blakeley. Blakeley and Fry at the same time was a wonderful duo. Thanks for the memories Coach. You'll not soon be forgotten.
  22. Kram is not available right now. He's picking up his red North Texas polo at the laundry.
  23. Mark Stoops I don't know anything about him except his last name and that he is the defensive guy at Florida State. But his last name would bring notoriety to the program and people in the seats. But he has never been a head coach.
