Zach Orr interviewing for NFL coaching job
El Paso Eagle replied to UNT18Grad's topic in Mean Green Football
"Duuuval." Calling Jacksonville by the county it rests in, Duval, was popularized by rappers in the 1990s, and it has slowly crept its way into game day at EverBank Field. "Duuuval!" became a rallying cry for Jags since beginning in the early '00s. -
Has there been any interest in Jason Bean ?
El Paso Eagle replied to greenjoe's topic in Mean Green Football
Once you enter the portal you have basically cut your ties with the current school. How that split goes depends on the school and how the athlete left (I believe Ruder is still working out in UNC's facilities for example). So once he entered the portal he is free to move on. -
Rice Transfer DB Tyrae Thornton Commits
El Paso Eagle replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Think we sometimes get caught up too much in the ratings; I know I do. He has shown the skill sets at Rice that make this look like a good move by the good guys. -
Think JC's will be ok since grades will unfortunately always be an issue.

Will be our draft luck. He leaves here, his play at UH has absolutely nothing to do with him getting drafted, and he ends up getting drafted from the "U of Hawaii" and they show his highlights from UNT

If he can stay healthy he could be dominant there

Between this and the whirlwind world of transfers it is going to get harder for many HS athletes to get D1 offers. This could help G5 schools get HS kids they might not normally get, but it could also lead to HS kids using G5 and FCS schools as a place to spend a season or two before transfering like the O-lineman from Charlotte this year planned and did when he transferred to Arkansas. Interesting times ahead.

Sure this played a part in his promotion. He is doing a great job. Having him as an OC and being able to raise his salary will hopefully keep him here a little longer.

DRC: Bennett to make $350,000 per year
El Paso Eagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
When PB was hired he mentioned he would not be in Denton "full time" during the offseason. Maybe this is another reason the salary is a little lower. PS - I wish we would have taken some of the money we saved and added a hand full of analyst to help out the team. Seems to be a growing trend to add additional help. -

100% committed (I will no longer use 110% - that doesn't seem to work well) to hoping it all works out and the D line has a great year. I just hope this "leap" of a hire does not come back to burn us. -

If they were married to, or about to marry the new DC's daughter I would question. Our D has been a crap show and there are a lot of experienced coaches we could have got for the money. As a Grad assistant or QC coach, maybe, but nothing in his background indicates he is ready for this. Was this one of the "conditions" PB said had to be met for him to come? This sounds like the type of hire that was allowed during the Dodge era. Again, I hope I am wrong but if it goes wrong this board will blow-up with people questioning how this hire was allowed. -

Patrick had proven he could "do". Passwaters, as far as I have seen, hs done neither -

At the time DB had a very questionable shoulder injury. Hindsight 20/20 but at the time it did not look so good -

So Passwaters will make the same as Cobbs and other assistants with coaching experience? He had better work out well or Wren, Seth and PB need to be shown the door with no severance. This hire has the potential to put a stain on the program. Sorry, but if you look at footballscoop.com there are highly experienced coaches getting hired daily. I hope I eat my words and Passwaters kicks ass, but this nepotism for, at least on paper, an unqualified hire bother me as much as the record.
