  1. Isn't that the argument SMU makes about us when we talk about their attendance?
  2. For those who say win and they will come - Coastal is an example where success has not brought in fans. Against Kansas they set their all time attendance record at 17,697.
  3. The risk with either is that the shuffling will continue. The reward is that even if they both lose/gain teams they will probably be considered better than CUSA. Yes, at this time both would be considered "upgrades" but what you end up with is yet to be determined (reference the push by the teams to leave the Sun Belt for CUSA)
  4. Yep, these closed and guarded practices have really made a big difference.
  5. The new game of rules, with basically no rules. The grey area is basically gone. You can promise kids money and be open about the connections you can provide to them if they sign. I am sure one of SMU's selling points to these transfers is that they can connect them with the "money" players who are alumni. As you say, the "moral issues" are not as big an issue anymore and while players will complain about be "used" by the universities, they will continue to sign with schools who would have nothing to do with them if they could not play. They new age of everyone using everyone. PS - With all of the transferring have the APR standards even matter anymore?
  6. If Kansas goes to the Big Ten do they end up taking Iowa state also? I know that academics are a very big issue for the big 10 and both schools are AAU certified.
  7. It's all about Location - It's access to San Antonio despite having to take UTSA
  8. Agree. Pick a logo for the helmet and stay with it
  9. UAB and their community have stepped it up to their credit. Don't think of it as UTSA, it is "SA" they would be interested in. Think this, if it happens, will be regretted. They have a "hot" coach; when he leaves what happens. Their facilities are sub-par at best.
  10. While were guessing ... What happens if the B12 comes back and takes Memphis also?
  11. I still think they add Memphis and someone from the West (UNLV, San Diego, Boise)
  12. The reason they are considering changing the rules to allow up to 7 transfers a year to have their scholarships "replaced" has nothing to do with caring about HS recruits and everything to do with P5 schools poaching players, and more importantly - having their players (backups) poached.
  13. Personally, tired of the uniform of the week club. We need to stick with something and be consistent. No wonder most people have no clue to who we are. is this the 3rd different helmet scheme in 3 games?
  14. Soon we will be looking back on the days when HS kids were recruited to most schools. Not going to be worth the time and resources to recruit and train for another school. Teams will be made up of transfers soon. P.S. - Something has to be done about the recruiting of players by other schools. Don't want to hear the Bull shit that the schools do not control what the boosters do. If a school, or someone representing a school reaches out directly, or through a 3rd party, to a player or their families/friends before they enter the portal there needs to be severe consequences. Schools need to lose scholarships and be banned from post season play. High School coaches who help recruit their old players should be punished also.
  15. I believe (most likely wrongly) the AAC he is trying to force a merger of some sort with the MWC. If they don't completely merge I think there could be a possibility that the remaining Mountain West Conference teams could get pulled into CUSA and perhaps some of the eastern C USA teams could end up in the sunbelt or MAC
  16. Just to spite the UTEP fans I would love them to invite NMSU, if even as a non-football member.
  17. The TCU head coach did his best to scare his boosters straight, saying the whole recruiting class is at risk if they don't put money in Frogs' pockets. https://footballscoop.com/news/gary-patterson-nil-tcu-there-is-no-wrong-anymore
