  1. I imagine Caponi would buy that fourth tire and hang it on the spare/rack.
  2. That went out the window during OOC play. IMO, it's extremely hard for us to crawl back into those conversations. Especially after losing to SMU/FAU/UAB.
  3. I can’t think of a scenario where this kind of decision is based on offseason turnover. can you explain your reasoning here?
  4. Pretty sure he was poking the bear.
  5. All this back and forth about how we do with/out Rubin. How do you think we’d be doing with a serviceable backup PG? You think we would be sitting with 3-4 more wins? Competing for a 1 or 2 seed? I suspect we’d be in a position for a T4 seed.
  6. This guy loves Penny Also, interesting to see a UAB fan chime in with this:
  7. How involved does the HC have to be on defense for it to be good? I always thought this varied from staff to staff, and it could absolutely work for the HC to leave said side of the ball to the DC. Absolutely get that the Leach tree has a history of bad defenses, but I don't buy the idea that they are offensive gurus AND sabotaging the DC's efforts. I would love more insight into how this is managed by Coach Morris.
  8. @HoosMeanGreen all good! I am curious now what the general feel of the board is. POLL TIME:
  9. Rumor mill is that Rubin could be ready to go after one more game (after UAB on Sunday). If it were your call, what would you do?
  10. Speaking of Globetrotters, this is a total brag: I've actually witnessed them lose. Look up their all-time record and try to comprehend how rare that is.
  11. I don't think we see Rubin before March. I like the idea of getting him a couple games prior to the tournament, but wouldn't be upset if Hodge held him out until R1. FAU's final stretch is murderer's row., with SMU's schedule a close second Wow.
  12. Yep. Before I was born. Before Ross Hodge was born. Kinda wild.
  13. I've thought this. Maybe a backup plan at DC in case we have to make an emergency decision mid-season.
  14. Yeah, I def reached for that one. I could have left it off, but I still think its worth noting that he coached there.
  15. I wouldn't think this at all, especially with The Tigers. They have a very weird, skewed?, mentality when it comes to their place in the American. And, IMO, SMU isn't so far ahead of UNT that they (Memphis) can sleep on us. Any reasonable coach is going to look at our scores, see teh SMU split, and also point out how incredible we are at making all of our matchups rock fights. Now, if we were way down towards the bottom and SMU was top 3, then I'd be inclined to agree. If you want to frame this as "people are going to overlook us", you don't need SMU to do that. Just look at our depleted roster.
  16. Pro Tip: when you want them to go away, stop replying to them.
  17. OT, but keep an eye on the Indiana job. That's my guess as to where he wants to land. His previous coaching gigs were at UF and LaTech, so those might appeal to him too.
  18. Really good example of how effort and production are related, but separate things. We have advanced metrics available that can reveal how much he is helping on defense and offense. It’s not good.
  19. SMU is good, we are just really good at making teams look bad.
  20. Continually amazed how competitive we are despite CJ/Rubin out. I think any other team would be decimated with similar injuries/limitations and collapse. But not us. Not Hodge. I don't know about y'all, but I'm entering emotional cruise control until the tournament starts, when hopefully we are 100%.
  21. For fun, I'd love to hear about other student-athletes that came through UNT from a coaching family. Coach's sons/daughters. How many can you name? I'll start with an easy one: Riley Dodge. There has to be more. @SilverEagle?
