I have seen Houston Nutt makes a base of $340 at AR, with other compensation it comes out to $1 million a year. Roberts at ASU i believe makes a base salary of $140K. There are several AR Coordinators/Asst who make 200K.

He has hired 2 swim coaches, 2 softball coaches, the new Tennis Coach (Lama), and I believe JJ.

My answer now goes back to with all the articles coming out about UNT asking for permission to speak with Butler. If he is not a contender then why are we asking to speak with him?

I think the USM connection says it all. RV has been gone from there 5 years and this is the first confirmed candidate, that is what caused the ruckus. I hope it plays out better but this stinks of cronyism

please RV wait and see who applies and do not just pick a friend, that is how we have recieved more than a few unsuccessful coaches.

luck can happen as you show. NMSU completely changed systems as did Syracuse and Nebraska. Idaho sucked before Erickson and they probably will do little still. DD would love it up there since it would be the hardest job in the country

Noticed the tennis team is now down to 5 players, possibly 4 if Sara Giles can not get healthy, anyone close to program know if they have signed 1 or more players for the Spring. You can not win matches with only 4 healthy players.

Can RV just shove him out the door now and let Kenny Evans finish the season as coach? I am so sick of DD's whoa uis me attitude. Guess what if you manned up in some of the OOC games you would not be in this situation, now difficult due to your hatred for your employer and its alumni. some people need to get over this overly pampering of athletes, no wonder they are such primadonnas. For crying out loud the kid and his mom said it was nothing. this nothing more than the press piling on eager to make a mountain out of a molehill.

We have played only one body-bag game a year for the past few years. DD has just made it look worse due to his inept coaching in OOC games. This year it was only Texas, last year it was OU. Wish this Phillips character would do a little research as well as the coaches. If I remember correctly DD complained about not getting to play a 1-AA, guess he wanted a sure win, then again RV probably was scared of DD coaching as if the team was playing a BCS power out of the Big Sky or Gateway.

there is so much hypocrisy with the press, where was the furor over the firing of the UNC coach, 2-3 weeks prior to DD getting a pink slip? DD may have won 4 Titles, but on 1-3 in Bowl Games and 6 losing seasons out of 9 should not cut it anywhere, of course the press just refuses to acknolwedge that.

nice article to try and prove DD's point. Give me a break we whore ourselves out once year for money then play mid-BCS teams and mid-majors, then the cupcakes of the Belt. A coach should love that schedule over most of the other Belt schools playing 3 or more $$ games. RV has been providing better and better schedules and DD failed to produce. We should be excited when RV announces the new coach. JUST WIN!!!

If RV can hire a Football coach with a similar resume of success that the new tennis coach has, then I will say let RV make the decision along with the Prez.

Did you also realize that Syracuse brought in a whole new offensive scheme when Davis/Applewhite came in. They ran an option based offense to a more open West Coast. Similar results to Nebraska when Callahan took over there and replaced the Wish-Bone. My poor Orange have suffered since McNabb left.

I have no problem with JQ he is graduatin to bigger and better things. there is another player who IMO should be a little quiter and be thankful DD kept him on the field for as long as he did, even when was evident a change needed to be made over the past 2 years.

well you have ISU with a lame duck coach, did the UNC coach leave immediately or is he finishing off the season? Shula at Bama could be lame duck, as well as Franchione at A&M

Alan Ward hurried along the Tennis Position back in late 2000 and hired a coach with no postings or interviews that i remember, he certainly did not ask the previous coach his opinions on the direction of the program.

I think if so many players are unhappy with DD's firing, then so be it leave your scholarship at the door and go play elsewhere. I hope the next coach promotes some discipline on the team and earns the respect of the team for the discipline and not allowing the team to run rough-shod.
