  1. judging by your comments earlier in the week, this a very good win after a dismal tie against Grambling. Hope they dod well today against ULL??
  2. Did anyone by chance make it out or does anyone still follow the team locally? I saw they only had 5 players playing, looks like Ina and Sara Giles are missing, injuries or other? Guess not to bad of showing, new girl looks good judging by results. Off they would interview the Asst. and not the Head Coach. Anyone???
  3. see UCF after hiring of O'Leary, UTEP after hiring Price, Idaho after hiring Erickson. All noticed significant increases in their athletic sales after the hirings. People are shallow enough that we will pay more and others will come in and donate more with a name coach and it is shown that the AD and BOR actually give a damn about athletics, UNT has yet to show that at this time except for a few new facilities and nice video that nobody can find right now.
  4. That was an amazing game, I believe one announcer was Coach Zoffuto who was at Lake Highlands and now I believe is at WT White. That Tyler team was amazing though with ?David Warren?
  5. yeah saw they posted it today, the day before it starts. Great Job marketing. Also no roster yet, no schedule. at least we have 2 very good coaches. Of course it is still not on the events calendar on the front page.
  6. excellent idea and it would only be a drop in the bucket compared to what we already pay/paid, seems simple enough, but this is UNT unfortunately and the Faculty and non-jockstraps would be up in a tizzy.
  7. the fans can do alot and I agree with both Cerebrus and GrandGreen, but also the Athletic Staff should have enough respect to get community involved and from my perspective they are doing little. Soccer is doing well and averaging 2nd in Sun Belt Attendance, but there is little out there in coverage or advertising outside of this board. I mentioned in the non-football area that UNT is(scheduled according to 5 other schools) hosting a Tennis tournament this weekend, but there is not mention on the website events much less an updated roster or schedule. Yes, football is king but even there little pub has been produced, could that be why only 25K showed up for SMU and not the 30K expected. As alumni it is not to far fetched to expect the AD and staff to do the little things to get the alumni and community involved. Coaches from all sports should be out promoting but they are not and I won't get into the whole USA Tennis Block Party debacle that happened back in july in what could have been a shining moment for UNT to show off their new facility for 200+ community members and kids. We can expect more and we should give more but also RV needs to get his staff more involved in the community and actually follow thru on those quarterly meetings he seems to always talk about but never come to bear. Oh Yeah, GO MEAN GREEN!!! Zip UP the ZIPS!!
  8. everything he says reeks of coach speak and he truly can not believe the crap he is saying. He shelters RF by not complaining about our sick offense but has no problem attacking the special teams. This a joke that keeps on getting worse and nothing will change in the foreseeable future.
  9. Sadly I would bet on the Zips covering the spread, with our lack of offense and our soft zone defense on the pass, plus with the may 3 and outs the defense will once again tire after 40 minutes on the field.
  10. I think he should pursue a career change b/c hisstudying has done nothing for him. If any of us study this hard for our jobs and produced this many straight years of dismal results we would be on the streets searching for a new job. Just scary.
  11. How about DD and RF learn to use a FB to make some blocks so JT or WW have more time to develop a play, to many 1 back sets, use our biggest TE or FB to block and open up running and passing lanes.
  12. Sorry talking about the Tennis Team. I am assuming they are hosting the tournament as 4-5 other schools have it on their schedule, even though the UNT site still does not have a roster nor schedule up yet . If there are any tennis fans around can you give a recap of the action next weekend, curious to see the new coach in action. Also has anyone seen or heard anything from practices. I know UALR will be very good this year with many returners and 2 new Freshman who look very good, saw them play last weekend at a tournament in Little Rock.
  13. I am just shooting spitballs, but maybe they allowed Woody a little more reign last weekend against SMU, and then decided they wanted to win their way. Ego-trip maybe? Let Woody freelance a little instead of shoving it up the gut 70% of the time which will not win. To bad there are no live unedited Coaches Shows.
  14. If Idaho can Dennis Erickson and Ohio can get Frank solich, there is no excuse for RV and the BOR to not go out and get a mainstream coach, someone who wants to win. I am afraid once they fire DD, that they will take the easy way out and hire RF to be coach since he is such a wonderful offensive guru
  15. Yeah similar to Applachian State playing LSU much closer than we did last year. Thingd never change here in Mean Green, including fan committment to a failing coach.
  16. I refuse to blame the players for the loss. The defense this year is excellent and should be commended. The offense is good but they are led by invompetence and uncreativity. How do you only throw 5 passes against a team who got torched last weekend by the pass? The players are not the problem, it is elsewhere and unfortunately many choose not to acknowledge the problem(s). It there is not a change at the end of the season in either the HC position or OC then there are even bigger problems prsent within UNT.
  17. “It was a very frustrating night for us, especially offensively,” Dickey said. “We came out early, created some opportunities, took advantage of one of them and squandered a few others. … From then on we couldn’t get anything going.” Should read the coaches got turtle syndrome and forgot how to call a game offensively. Do they even watch game film?
  18. RF/DD got what they needed to keep their jobs and that was beat SMU, and most GMG posters wanted that also, now it is back to normal. UNT fans and staff should be embarassed.
  19. and this team had 49 points put on them last week by a middle pack BYU team, it is coaching
  20. sadly I think DD secured his job by beating SMu last week, and got most everyone here on his bandwagon again, what an embarassment, there is no excuse.
  21. No, in fact tell the coaches to actually call plays that play to our QB's strength, I know that is a novel concept. DM already had his chance and went 2-9 last year.
  22. Mean Green INT, then Tulsa INT right back picked by Blake Burress.
  23. The addition and maturing of Woody will be what determines the record this year. The defense appears to be more stout. Woody is extremely mobile, which forces DD and RF to open the offense a little more, similar to Scott Hall years, but Woody is much faster, now can he generate the leadership that Hall had in his 4 years. WW will make up for DD/RF's lack of creativity and no 6-6 will not do this year, 8-4 should be expected at least.
