  1. That is one big old kid. Good luck to him.
  2. Exactly, this guy is hunting in the forest for a better deal. A real offer comes and he is probably gone.
  3. Hopefully, Fitz will get drafted and head on to a successful career. His strength is route running and body control but he lacks NFL speed. Best of Casey.
  4. I don't think the coaches were surprised at all at losing more players. What they say in the media is a little different than what "might" be said behind closed doors. Nah. They always spin the truth.
  5. Dodge will not recruit a QB he thinks will knock his son out of the position. He knew Vizza was going to keep Riley on the pine and now will win with his son or go they will go down together. The fun begins. Riley's first few passes were a thing of beauty in the collegiate game.
  6. Phillips is Dodge's boy and Vito is not. Dodge can't stand Vito. The only negative comment about a Dodge from Phillips was last fall when Riley hit the field. He commented how small and fragile he looked. I was taken back by that because Phillips is the only person in the media that is pro TD.
  7. UNT will challenge Ball State with their QB gone. Army is a win at home. ULL is starting a new QB and RB, that should be a win. Others will be tough, just hopefully very competitive.
  8. Who will out last who? The 2007 recruiting class or Todd Dodge?
  9. The free beer is the best.......well maybe not.......the belly button girls at the SMU game may have been the best.
  10. No QB controversy is a good thing heading into spring. Dodge goes with Dodge and hopefully the program turns around with JUCO WR's and a better defense. It can only get better, but how much better. RV has to be wondering now if he made the right call. This next season is it. I suspect a new coach in a new stadium when its all said and done.
  11. He might be smarter than we think. He transfers from one high school to another and takes a program that never won a state championship and leads them to the Title in a program that is considered soft and rich. He calculates the program and if it doesn't fit he looks at the best options. No different than anyone else looking for the best job opportunities. By transferring, he only became the Player of the Year in 4A football. Seems to me he has goals of winning and winning now. Starting four new WR's with all the drama this program has gone thru might make many leave, and it has. He just happens to be higher profile. If he was a WR or Db, no one would have given a crap.
  12. Gio and Meager both rolled up numbers. Its a team game. The problem with Dodge is that he can't afford to take blame for losses or for being out coached like so many other more seasoned and experienced coaches can. He can't deflect any heat off his players because he has no track record. He has to paint the picture (using his phrase) that its about the team and its youth and how DD left him nothing, etc etc. He has never take responsibility for the special teams nor the defense nor the lack of getting his offense moving. He has never once said well boys I got my butt out coached. He doesn't know why players leave? What? He doesn't know defense if it hit him in the head. What? He doesn't know special teams? What? What the hell does he know. I know, he knows that if he tip toes around for another season, he gets paid and then he's off. How do you lose so many players in two seasons? Over 20 total and counting. More to follow.
  13. Nathan needs a new car to be thrown into the deal to stay. Riley jumped right over him without any reason given during the football season. The only kids that stay are kids that need the scholarship or ones that are too close to graduation, too close to home, or the mightiest, the girlfriend. If you have any blood in your veins, you play the sport to play, not sit the bench. The Qb position is unique in that only one hits the field and unless your #1 you never see the field. Look at Sneed, he is as good as Colt, its just wasn't in the cards. I hope Nathan plays football. I hope he plays football and play it well. He has to recognize that he is a junior with two years left. Why would a junior to be stay fully knowing he will never play. Dodge calls his son the second coming of Chase Daniel (which is laughable) but if he believes it, then what hope is there for Nathan with no experience and only two years left. Nathan is a great kid. He deserves his shot to play. He will not get it here. He knows it. You would have to be a blind man not to see that. A competitor competes or why play the game. This is not the NFL and a job, its small college football. Best of luck to Nathan.
  14. I guess I was real smart with my post. I hate being wrong especially when FFR is always right.
  15. texas wins the south if bradford goes pro.
  16. I see great competition at every position. Competition brings out the best in everyone including the coaching staff. Great battles at QB, RB, DB. Need OL to step up and DL to emerge. Vizza will no doubt come out on top.
  17. how few a wins does Dodge get fired?
  18. Riley will be on the field everydown playing behind center, without a doubt. Wildcat set might be used with Dunbar.
  19. Rice loses big part of its offense Herman takes coordinator’s job at Iowa State By MOISEKAPENDA BOWER Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle Jan. 4, 2009, 12:07AM Today Top 25 | BCS Tom Herman, the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach who masterminded the prolific attack of a Rice team that went 10-3 this season, has taken a similar position at Iowa State and will work under new Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads. “I am elated to have the opportunity to coach in one of the nation’s best conferences (the Big 12),” Herman said in a statement released by Iowa State. Herman, 33, spent four seasons with David Bailiff, including two at Texas State before Bailiff took over at Rice in January 2007. Herman was tutored by Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis for two seasons as a graduate assistant (1999-2000) and worked as an offensive assistant for four seasons at Sam Houston State (2001-04) before moving to Texas State. He was an all-conference receiver at California Lutheran. “You hire good people and you want them to grow,” Bailiff said. “Any time you have success, this is going to happen.” mk.bower@chron.com Dodge could have gotten a college coordinator at Texas State for a song and a dance before he moved on to Rice. Dodge is going to be loyal to his coaches to the bitter end. And now Rice is attracting transfers like Sam McGuffie.
  20. This post is really all about whether UNT gets better. I believe UNT will get better because when your on the bottom you have no where else to go but north and win 2 or 3 games. Any more wins than that will be a big season. It makes NO difference at all who plays QB. 2 or 3 wins and hopefully just some competitive games. Its all about whether Deloach can keep UNT in the game and whether or not Todd develops any WR's and adjusts his scheme. Defense is the name of the game. As far as rumors, I have none to report senor Dozer.
  21. Your threw a strike with your post Emmitt. You are right on the mark.
  22. This game shows you how far UNT is behind talent wise on the line of scrimmage and at skilled positions. Troy blitzed everydown against UNT and is rarely ever blitzing against the speed of the WR and RB of S. Miss. and also because S. Miss is so multiple. Fedora brought over the whole package from Gundy. TD? Will he ever change?
  23. Vito is second fiddle again to the Dodge media play.
  24. Lonnie, I am right with you brother. This guy is playing against some weak competition. Atkinson looks to be more of the real deal.
