  1. "Like we talked about in the paper on Sunday, UNT has signed 10 high school wide receivers over the last two years and has already lost a couple of those players. It makes me wonder if UNT isn't admitting it made some mistakes along the way with those who are left by taking a JC wide receiver." Bret, You made several great comments that I get chastised for making before you do. Keep calling it like you see it Bret, Dodge missed on most of his selections to date. They might later prove out but not likely. I question his ability to make good JUCO selections based on last year's selections who have made no impact at all. No offense to Shelton, but his selections on the OL were very questionable. Juco DB selections have been toast as well. Most don't agree with Bret because he is critical but more correct than not. Sorry my man ADLER, the truth sucks.
  2. Oldtimer throws around these 40 times like they are golden. The recruiting guru says a HS kid is 4.4, no offense but most of these 40 time are exaggerated.
  3. There are no real deals at this level, well maybe except for Todd's son. (at least in Todd's mind anyway) Penson will prove out in the long run. He needs to get stronger and likely will be moved inside instead of outside (you would think)
  4. I wonder who Dodge and his staff use as recruiting hosts (which players) to assist in recruiting? I would venture to say Casey, Matt Phillips, but I wonder who else sells UNT well.
  5. It would interesting to know how lily white dodge was when he was big time frat boy FIGI in Queer city USA? I doubt he ever did anything wrong especially with the mullet he had working.
  6. Since we are playing for next season, I think the over and under on wins will be 4 wins or more with Dodge at QB.
  7. Tell me know that your co-workers don't really do that. Tell them to kiss your a.
  8. If these guys are big time why aren't any of them playing? Why did we use Riley at Slot? Have you actually seen these guys play in person to believe the 40 yard dash times? Have you seen them run routes in practice? If these guys are all big time, why are we going with 3 non scholarship WR's? Yeah, I know, Dodge is holding them back for next season. What about now? What about the team that wants to win now. If they are as good as everyone says they are, then Dodge is saving them for the chosen one. Dodge had no problem burning Dibrell and Johnson's red shirt. He had no trouble burning Vizza and MIcah's freshman season so why is he saving them now? I love FFR sticking up for Dodge now. It makes me warm and fuzzy. ***************** Look at the FW *Telegram article of Oct 4th...Rucker had an injury that shelved him, Brigham, Taylor and Barret needed a year to mature...quotes from that article. Micah had an injury and couldn't play but has now returned to playing status. Oh Dunbar has an injury now that kept him from playing in the last game...maybe last 2 games
  9. I sure hope your 100% correct. Lets play for next season starting NOW. Medical red shirt anyone that is worth a damn who qualifies. If going to play for next year, let's make it count. Damn, if we could only find a way for Fitz.
  10. I have nothing against anyone but how the program is run. Sometimes you just have to scratch your head and wonder? Between last sesaon, players leaving unexpectly, his own SLC player leaving, and all this other crap makes you really wonder what is going on. PHS knows what is going on. It is time to know if Dodge is in charge or has he lost it with his players. Giving preferential treament in anyway takes this program down. Is Micah getting his red shirt? I am told he needs it. I sure hope Dodge gets that kid his medical. Mr. Vito, sir, can you find out Micah and his medical red shirt? Thank you in advance.
  11. Dodge called it a minor ding in the head. Why was he cleared to practice the following week and getting tackled? How does that look to the rest of the team?
  12. A two-time offensive player of the year in the state's largest high school classification, Riley was going to follow Todd's footsteps by playing for the University of Texas but decided to play for Dad instead. Todd says Riley and Missouri's Chase Daniel are the two best quarterbacks he's coached, but Riley is a good enough athlete that he played receiver when the team ran out of healthy bodies. Riley sustained a concussion and is getting a medical redshirt. Question, when did we run out of healthy bodies? We have a boat load of kids on scholarship at WR. SO LONG Vizza and Tune, you guys are cooked. Hopefully, we can get a HS recruit to come to UNT to back up the SLC star, who is compared to Chase Daniel. If any recruit was thinking he would get a fair shot at playing, you better think again. Pretty high praise for a kid who has never thrown a pass in college, oops he did, his first was an ill advised INT. Gio nice knowing you, adios. Nathan, best of luck to you as well. I wonder how Greg McElroy feels at Alabama? He got an offer to play big time college football at QB, but I guess he couldn't play as well as Todd's son? What about Chase Wasson? I guess you sucked. And poor Kyle Padron, everyone thought you were the better Qb, especially with your strong arm and heigth. I guess not.
  13. Going into the Rice game our top three WR's were Dibrell, Casey and Riley. (Brock was not playing). As Coach Dodge said, "we are going with our best athletes to WIN games." Riley was obviously better than all the scholarship WR's and non scholarship WR's. He takes a ding and sits out the rest of the game. Next week he practices with the team at slot but then the game planing begins and he and Dad come up with the Medical Redshirt deal for a concussion that keeps him out of 6 or 7 games?? We lose Dibrell, and instead of playing Riley where he would help the team the most this season at the slot position, Dodge plays 3 non scholarship WR's. Is this for the better of the team now? Are we playing to win now? Is his son and his redshirt worth more to them than the rest of the junior and especially the senior's who are trying to win now and this season? I love all you guys who will say its best for him to red shirt, but was it at the expense of winning and competing at a higher level NOW? Just a thought. Let's face it, Riley was one of the better WR's on the team or Dodge wouldn't have used him. I have never heard of a mild concussion taking out someone for 6 or so games. Seems a little selfish to me but what the hell, we are already playing for next season. Just ask and find out who is getting a lot of reps at the expense of others. I have seen a few practices and you can tell where Coach Dodge is headed. He has a few kids just shaking their heads, imo. at practice.
  14. This post fried my tiny brain. This was Jimmy Hendricks, DEEP. I'm cooked after reading that. I feel dirty. "wiskey for me and fresh horses for my men." Buenos noches.
  15. Hey Rudy, chill and put up your night stick or taser. Its all going to be good.
  16. Damn Stebo, now your the man with that kind of info. That is a strong comment.
  17. Since it was on ESPN, I guess the way the Athletic Dept. handled it was in the best interest of the players, coaches, and the University.
  18. exactly It could been done as part of a routine physical.
  19. Final thoughts. I wish Dodge would test as many kids, as financially possible, every week. But should he have kept this in house? Should he have hung out dirty laundry regardless of wins or losses? And if a player did test positive, should it be between Coach Dodge and that player, end of story? How much of this was to really help players or was this used as another excuse for this season?
  20. Whether or not he did it for the right reasons, (the best interest of the players OR he was giving himself more excuses) you have to question why he let it get outside the team doors. Families don't do that. So either he wanted it to get out or he is a plain naive and a clueless person in college rules.
  21. You can't do it the smart way, you have to do it in a way that makes the team and its members look foolish. Not to mention the University and all those recruits considering this University.
  22. The more drug testing and alcohol awareness courses the better. Just don't hang your laundery when its not necessary. Unfortunately, some kids might be thought of as guilty by past actions. These guys are supposed to a tight knit group. I wouldn't think this does a lot for morale when you as a representative of UNT (player) are looked at differently because your considered in a certain group. (guilty by association) Because if 15 players got caught then people could assume the others were just lucky.
  23. Good post Tasty. The more often the better. It is a good idea. But this was a a publicity nightware, regards of the spin. PHS agreeing with Dodge is a little strange after blasting him the last two seasons. I wonder how Dodge, Ford, and Clayton looked at Daniel today after hearing about the most recent blast. PHS, one thing for sure, you have balls and you smoke quality cigars. Question for you, in your five years at UNT, how many players have broken team rules, puffed on an occasional joint, or have gotten arrested for major violations? Not worried about MIPs but that had major issues. Are you surprised it was only 15? What would Dickey have done? It is my understanding that DD never gave team tests or even random university drug tests? This comes from some seniors on the team? Only the standard NCAA tests were done. Like to hear your comments. The player who told me about how Dickey ran the program is definitely a friend of Daniel.
  24. Jamal Jackson is not a candidate for red shirt status. Tomlison has already took a rs, I doubt he would get another season but who knows? Maybe Oldtimer can tell us.
