  1. I have wondered that same thing since Saturday, Radiogreen. There has been mention of tendenitis (oddly, attributed to a lack of throwing). Sometimes rehab calls for some, but limited, activity. We fans have to consider the possibility that what (we think) is best for the team is not necessarily what is best for the player. There could be other factors not specifically related to football, or football related injuries that affected the decision not to redshirt Riley this year, if ever. My understanding is that last year, he had a girlfriend already at North Texas as a student-athlete. Maybe he didn't want to be too far behind her in school, with the implication being that someone redshirted would be at North Texas longer than 4 years.
  2. It's a big enough town that you should find some 30-something gals if you look in the right places!
  3. I LOVE IT! One question I've always wondered why it's never asked, and another question I would never have dreamed up!
  4. I was somewhat surprised that SMU didn't draw better for their first home game against Texas State; after all, TSU played Baylor tough for most of their game last year. They hung tough against SMU longer than expected. As for how that relates to us, I'm wondering if we're looking at the "should we schedule FCS teams in the future" question from the wrong perspective. I think we've played more games against what is now Texas State at San Marcos than any other program, and much has been written here about how much effort is going into upgrading their facilities. Overall, they seem to be on the improve. Would they not be a worthy regional opponent for us? Probably not a guaranteed win, but perhaps a rivalry worth cultivating?
  5. Mine (I get 2 since I started the thread, hey, ask as many as you want): 1. Does the return of Eddrick Gilmore outweigh the loss to Tulsa, since I really thought we'd lose to Tulsa, and never considered the possibility we'd see Gilmore this season? 2. Would one of those witch supply places in New Orleans sell us "beat LSU" potion, or does LSU have Marie Laveau in their corner?
  6. I must agree Evan, that those sitting where I could hear them talking WERE talking about the video. The only negative I can remember hearing was someone saying there were too many "virtual people" in the stands of the "virtual stadium", but that was just typical banter. Certainly, it would have been better if the audio could have been understood; I noticed how that everyone was cheering for Mean Joe Greene, but couldn't really understand what he was saying. I hope I can see the whole thing again, at some point, with the sound track working!
  7. Exactly what I've been saying, in so many words. If Dodge leaves UNT for a better opportunity, it will only be after he proves himself a winner at UNT, which would be good for UNT as well.
  8. Also, he looked like he knew how to play football!
  9. I only attended 2 games at Fouts last year, but don't remember there being the strange "echoing" sound from from the stadium's sound system for the play by play. The New Stadium video didn't sound "echoey", but wasn't really loud enough. No excuse for the Green Brigade to play through it, but is it possible they weren't hearing some audible cue? If that was some attempt to emphasize the need for a new stadium based on the sound system sucking, it really worked for me, but noone else really seemed to notice. Did that minor from the Music School make my hearing too sensitive? None of my music teachers ever thought so. By the way, even if the sound system were good, the acoustics at Fouts are awful, and I hope the New Stadium is designed to enhance crowd noise and music performance.
  10. Honestly, I feel like hammering at that muffed kickoff is counterproductive at this point. I'm sorry it happened, but let's remember that he made our only score when the game was still within reach. Of course, I hope Dunbar NEVER makes another mistake. More than that, I hope he makes many great plays for the Green!
  11. Yes, I was sitting next to some pretty jaded students late in the game, who were commenting about how bad everyone but the punter was, just before Tobe made a tackle that did catch everyone's attention. The guy can play!
  12. Why can't everyone be reasonable and colorblind like me? Of course I'm disappointed that, after a tour in the Army and two degrees at North Texas, I have to ask my wife, "Is this green?". To me, I was surprised that the band appeared to all be in matching colors (or "shades" of colors, whatever).
  13. Todd Dodge must win at North Texas to move up the career ladder.
  14. Thanks! I was noticing his speed, but hesitated to mention it (too cheerful sounding?). I also noticed Alex Lott seems noticeably faster than most of our players. Whatever we can do to get our best and fastest players on the field, I'm in favor of it.
  15. QUOTE(Travis @ Sep 6 2008, 11:14 PM) the turnovers didn't kill us. we were already out of it before we started turning it over. Ah, I was wondering who muffed that. Well, I was thinking at the time that that guy wouldn't get another shot at returning kicks. However, I think he did well later on and did get us some good return yardage. I think we'll have to cut that freshman some slack, he will make a lot of big plays for us, I believe. I have to agree about that killing any chance of coming back. It would have been extremely difficult at any rate, but up till the muffed kickoff, possible. Overall, however, the game was lost on the line of scrimmage.
  16. I agree; a lot of players change positions from high school to college anyway. I actually thought he added something when he was in there; that he helped keep the ball moving towards the goal.
  17. For once, I must agree with you, MG Insurance Pro. I was there from midway through the first quarter, and one thing that I was distinctly noticing was the lack of any defensive lineman in David Johnson's face. I said it elsewhere here tonight, if we're holding any lineman back to "save his shirt", we need to forget that, and play them if they can improve our game.
  18. You know, I actually thought he looked good at wideout, also. I think it's a legitimate question as to whether he has the toughness to take the beating that Vizza has so far in his career.
  19. Best stuff on this thread; maybe on this board tonight. Oh, what the hell, the part about line play pretty much sums it up. Honestly, I don't care that Todd Dodge burned Riley Dodge's redshirt; if we have linemen on either side of the ball that we're holding back to "save their shirts", and they can help us now, I say PUT THEM IN. Wasn't one of Dodge's selling points to recruits that they could contribute right away?
  20. I''m just wondering because of your screen name; are you from Guam? I live in Euless, where we have a lot of Tongans, an immigrant group from the South Pacific (yes, many of them are GREAT football players). Anyway, welcome!
  21. QUOTE(SHOSS @ Sep 5 2008, 04:34 PM) alright...my football weenie is going crazy again.... now we're talking... Very good! Didn't get me laughing out loud, but I haven't stopped grinning yet...just as if I was packing a football weenie!
  22. Wow! It's easy to tell he really cares about North Texas.
  23. We'll never beat Tarleton in rodeo!
  24. I plan to walk up about 30 minutes before the game and buy 2 general admission tickets for myself and my wife. Does anyone think tickets will be too scarce for this?
