2020 Sucks

You need to start wrapping your mind around Ross Hodge and defensive basketball. I know you probably hate both of those thoughts, but embracing them would make you a much better “fan”.

You can bet your sweep bippy that if Grant stays, Ross will be gone sooner rather than later…and will probably land at a program that will beat our ass with defense! Ross has earned the job 100%. If you don’t know this, you don’t really know basketball…

They ended up going 27-5 overall. They were 21-1 in conference, but lost in the first round of the GAC tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA D2 regional championship and lost in the central region final.

If that’s truly the case, then I’ll apologize. But this feels more and more like a smoke screen given that he only played 12 min vs Alcorn and has been remarkably ineffective and inconsistent. Grant and Ross have been in his face more than any player I’ve ever seen during their time here. Additionally, with 10 points and 15 rebounds from Sissoko, the point was that he wasn’t missed at all on the floor.

It sure he would be a valuable addition due to the fact that he’s only got one year left. Our newcomers seem to take November to January to gel in this system. He isn’t strong and I recall him trying to block a lot of shots from behind. Abou owned him…and Abou is Abou.

I’d give a testicle to play SMC or FAU in late February instead of how early we played those games. We should be the Cinderella in the NCAA tourney! I honestly think there are maybe 5-6 teams in the sweet 16 that we could beat and 5-6 we’d give them 40 minutes of hell that they’ve never experienced!

Cisse is gonna be a handful inside…we are gonna need Abou and Sissoko to play solid minutes when he’s in the game. Boone Is the toughest matchup…Scott will likely get to guard him. I’m excited to see Tylor vs Anderson and Rubo vs Bryce Thompson. I give OSU the length and depth advantage…but we have a heart and hunger advantage! Plus…we have Grant Freakin McCasland!!! Their student section will be lively…they are back from spring break! I expeythe Maniacs to have another bus and we should have a student section presence. Hope it’s not in the 3rd row. Hopefully our band can come too! It’s gonna be a great atmosphere!

Was Abou out today? I didn’t notice! 😀 Prayers for his family…we will definitely need him in Stillwater.

Grant has this team hitting their peak at the right time. If Kai gets the ankle back to 80%+, this could team could definitely be a 10 seed and make the Sweet 16. If we falter in Frisco, I can definitely see us in Madison Square Garden!

This is a significant increase…an extra $150 for me over last year. Football has to improve or I’ll just buy the GA seats at the gate and sit on the 50 in one of the hundreds of empty seats. The football experience is about 1/3 of that for basketball.

Would definitely like to see the starters get the 2nd half off…but would not want an L going into the tourney…or in front of a gym full of fans. Wins always matter!

What is the benefit of having 7 QBs? 3 to 4 is too many!

At this point, they should just affiliate with the NFL and call it the ACFC and NCFC. If the NCAA won’t step up and manage the conferences…it’s just the Wild West!

We arent getting an At-Large bid. Our conference is simply not strong enough and the aren’t going to change that. This is a 1-bid league. Next year, We will be in an ocean that raises all boats a little higher.

We are gonna create that chaos!

Grant is going to have to recruit the crap out of this years roster. The portal will come knocking for Perry, Jones, and Abou for sure. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Stone seek an offer where he could get on the court more regularly. Obviously, I don’t want to see anyone leave. But we know Grant and Ross will both be in demand as well and if a coaching change were to occur, this could be a big transitional period for UNT hoops. If this roster and staff is kept intact next year should be incredibly fun in the new conference!

I told you so! The team is 21-5 and in a great spot for the Tournament! The panicked fans don’t understand how Grant builds teams! The loss to rice was just a bad night…and the home loss to FAU goes to the refs. We should be 23-3. To me, we should be completely pissed about teams refusing to schedule us. We need opportunities for quality wins. Grant has to land some home & home gigs with some good programs!

And there were multiple games cancelled and not made up including a tournament. That 18 win season should have been 25.

This episode was really insightful! Loved hearing Grant talk about crowd energy…he wants the pit crowd to be more engaged…stand up and cheer, chant De-dense, etc. They got the practice in that they badly needed despite the ice storm! That was great to hear and it showed vs Rice on Saturday. And the gem was Sissiko. As a fan, we always have questions when a player isn’t getting minutes…especially when he has the size to fill obvious gaps in our game. But now we understand why it has taken 14 so long to get into the lineup for anything significant…he has a language barrier, he has very limited experience in basketball, and he’s been on several teams with different styles of play. He has needed time to settle in and learn terms/concepts that were literally foreign to him. This interview made me an even bigger fan and I can’t wait to see how big of an impact he will have in future seasons! Go Mean Green!

Abou’s problem is that he can’t dribble the ball! The way he tries to back defenders down and take the hook is just not efficient when he misses 50% and when he turns it over on the dribble another 3-4 times a game. Add in an offensive foul or two and you just can’t afford to lose that many possessions in a limited possession offense.

Do you include Rosevelt Smart? The dude was a 3 pt machine until Grant made him play defense!

The NIT doesn’t usually leave teams out wit 20+ wins and history of success. We will get a NIT bid if we do t win the tournament.
