  1. Havent had a basketball or football ticket checked since the plandemic in any sport. The tickets are all electronic now for FB and BB. The only physical "tickets" are the lanyards for club members and high rollers.
  2. This years team will have the most talent we’ve seen in Denton in 20 years. Tylor Perry is replaceable. This team will be able to go down the bench and find players #6-10 with every bit as much talent as the starters. The OP is way off here. UNT is a basketball school!
  3. Hodge is still going to make every player get after it on D. But the secret to a faster pace with that style is DEPTH! You can run a 7-man rotation at 55 ppg. What you can’t do is run 7 as hard as we do on defense and ask them to go score 70+.
  4. I’ve watched him play 2 years here and he was a star in JuCo where basically every kid is D1 but has some baggage…I can’t imagine him sucking anywhere! More kids in his Kansas Juco conference probably are going pro than will come out of CUSA.
  5. Estelle is a very high caliber coach! This is a superb hire…he is incredibly connected and will definitely help us on the recruiting trail!
  6. Youre missing the point…if he wants to be a pro, his pedigree is solidified by competing in a higher league. So even if he doesn’t go NBA or G-League in 2023, he sets himself up for a better shot in 2024 if he goes to a Big 12 or SEC school. It’s just the facts!
  7. Boom! Called it!!! #ballknower
  8. Tylor is not going to be wearing mean green next year…it’s not about money guys. It’s about going pro!
  9. Abou and the staff were often at odds. The writing was already on the wall that he was transferring after the season, so when Grant sat him in the Alcorn game, the decision was a two way street.
  10. Mitchell is a JJ-like defender, and a better shooter than JJ. But he only has one year and that’s a drawback. I’m thinking he would have committed by now if he was coming. Hodge is probably going to release the hounds offensively with the team built around Aaron and Rubin. They want to speed things up! We need a PF that can run…wish Stone would grow 3 inches over the summer!
  11. All of you schmucks that are pissy because Mac and TP are seeking a better opportunity are being very disingenuous! Do you berate your friends at work for doing it? When the OC at Guyer leaves for a head coaching job, do you break out the pitchforks? My gosh…life is about maximizing your potential and seeking new and more difficult challenges! These men are moving up in ways that exceed what UNT can offer at this time. I want us to be successful and become a destination program…but that happens with sustained success that is built over decades. We are 6 years into a 20 year vision. Ross is keeping a ton of skilled players that definitively would have hit the road if he hadn’t been promoted. This is how you become a Gonzaga, a Villanova, or an Xavier. Get over yourselves!
  12. I’d love to see Hodge reach into the D2 world and try to grab Johnny Estelle from TAMU-Kingsville. He’d be a great addition to our staff!
  13. Perry will leave for greener pastures. He did what he came to d I think. Kai is out, Jayden is done, Eady is done, and Browne is done.. rubin, Aaron, Stone & Sissoko will be the core returners, Moore will develop, Allo should get a spot, and the rest of the bench will be deteriorating by what is found in the portal. Javon Jackson has shown interest, he’s a 6’3” jr from CE King Hs in a Houston. We have cotton coming as of right now. So there is room for 2-3 transfers if Hodge wants to go that route.
  14. You are right, if it was speculation. But some of us have people who we know on the team and inside the circle. We don’t reveal our sources because that would be stupid. I appreciate you wanting to assume positive intent and I’ve done NOTHING but wish him the best, while trying to let y’all know that he was very unhappy about being coached hard and would not be returning. Vague answers from the department are a legal smoke screen that keeps people at bay and buys time. I think more details will emerge in time. I hope AO gets what he needs personally and is able to continue chasing his basketball dreams. He’s better today because of his UNT experience and he definitely helped us win games!
  15. I too believe we will keep all of these players mentioned.
  16. I told y’all after the Sam game that he quit…and everyone frowned on me, called me crazy and said there was a special place in hell for me! But that’s what happened. “Family situation” was a smoke screen…they didn’t want the distraction of Grant and Abou to saturate the media and pull the kids minds away from the goal of winning the NIT. It worked!
  17. Andrew has a problem with anyone who isn’t Tony Benford. It’s 2023…get with the program!
  18. In every way, this is a very well deserved promotion. He will do great things at UNT and I expect nothing less than more championships!
  19. Hinkle is awesome! I went to the UNT NCAA game in 2021 and Indy is a great sports city. I’d go back anytime I got the opportunity!
  20. He’s not coming back. The writing was on the wall early this season…Reem was always the coach that could talk him down. When this season started and Reem wasn’t there to insulate him and keep him up, he was not the player/teammate they needed. With Sissoko’s rapid development, he knew he could leave the team in good hands and I’m certain, he was encouraged to go find another place to play. The post season is a bonus…and he essentially elected not to be a part of it. No hard feelings. He gave the team what he had to offer and he benefited from them as well. It was a win-win in my book. Wish him the best, and I would not be surprised to see him in a KState jersey next season.
  21. They only have to hire one…the men’s coach is already here.
  22. I’m really pissed that SDSU refused to play us! That would have been a war!
