***OFFICIAL UNT vs. La.Tech Game Thread****

Why do we run up the middle when it never works? Oh wait, that message comes later. -
The line for this game is baffling to me. It is like they know something that we don't. And in my experience, they normally know something that I don't. It seems like a no-brainer to take the home team.

Let Phil Bennett call the offensive plays. -
Count me in the scheme of fairly optimistic with the hire. Bennett has tons of experience. I would hope the following would occur because Seth played for Bennett and the relationship that develops because of that player/coach dynamic: 1. Seth will improve his head coaching game. And, Seth will seek the advice of Bennett since Bennett has had previous head coaching experience. I hope Seth will use Bennett as an asset to become an even better head coach. I hope that motivates Seth to "not disappoint" his former coach and the person he hired to be on his staff. 2. I hope Bennett will feel comfortable telling Seth the good, the bad, and the ugly about how he is doing things. That is, now a staff member, I hope he can provide advice on whatever he thinks should be done for the program to be successful in all three phases. I don't think Bennett needed North Texas and to unretire from retirement. I do think North Texas needed a new DC and I hope Bennett is the answer. If 1 and 2 above happen, then the program will move forward.

More Speculation: I heard from a friend who heard from a friend that Seth is working on another short yardage running play right up the middle after the running plays on third and fourth down fail. He is being proactive if a fifth down is ever implemented.

Simple 3 Step Offseason Plan

4. Complete a comprehensive evaluation of all the injuries that occurred this year to determine if there is something missing in the current strength and conditioning program. Or was it just a fluke thing being 2020. -
Soul Searching Time for North Texas Football

SL is often criticized for his coaching on this board. At some point, as the head coach and leader, his decision-making has to be questioned too. It is one thing to be questioned as a "bad" coach but that combined with poor decision-making as the leader is something completely different. I agree with your posts. I am very skeptical in his ability to make appropriate decisions to fix things going forward. An example: Bean gets hurt, Martin comes in for one play, throws a TD pass, and doesn't play again. I think that statement is correct. If so, there is really no reasonable rationale for that decision which seemed kind of an easy one to make, in my opinion. -

SL fired the OC and DC last year. He then hired a new DC who should be fired. Other changes are desperately needed. This team is consistently sloppy in all three phases of the game, and the head coach is responsible for that. Does anyone trust SL to make these decisions and figure it out? -
