  1. System is and has been broken. Need to build something better.
  2. Looks like he stacked on some extra muscle to me, should help his durability. I really hope he can turn this into at least an NFL back up role and earn a starter position. He deserves it.
  3. spoilers: “mumble mumble. All 3 phases” spits “great recruits... here’s Phil” you now have your Wednesday back. You’re welcome.
  4. Conversion rates. 6 ft american is 7 1/2 Canadian. He would be a greek god amongst canucks even at 5'11"(in heels)
  5. I'm not so sure about #4. While you are right, it is possible, I think it's HIGHLY improbable unless he just puts up some beyond insane numbers this year. Even with a strong winning season, there's enough question marks that any relevant program is going to wait and see what happens next...
  6. Is that like Monopoly money or do they just print the king of Frances face on squirrel pelts?
  7. Jace just may have been one of those opportunities too good to pass on. I will 110% welcome a good (pre-season) QB showdown, but please let's not do this Bean/Aune thing again. Unless the winner is such an abysmal failure that you have to pull him, let him learn and build from experience. Otherwise it has got to be demoralizing to be pulled every couple series because of mistakes. Stage fright happens, mistakes happen, but it's the best teacher also on how to manage it.
  8. I would love to be aboard this Aune love train, but I don't see it... He wasn't the worst but certainly didn't impress me either. I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong, but I can't be the only one scratching their heads at this ranking...
  9. Great perspective. First and foremost we are all folks with family and jobs. Football is just something we complain about on the internet. Excited to have Phil on board. I see great things happening with this energy and passion.
  10. That's just how UNT rolls baby!
  11. Regardless of guilt... Briles is a PR nightmare and potential recruiting black hole. Maybe he could get a coordinator role somewhere in p5 and rebuild, but you'd have to be truly desperate to get into bed with that bad karma... Which sadly we might just be
  12. I do, because our recruits are seeing their improvement and our...whatever the hell we are right now. Their success hurts us
  13. Man, where did this all go wrong... We were two teams in the same rebuilding scenario. New coaches. We even started getting the upper hand. Sonny and his brilliant hacking of the transfer portal completely wrecked us up. Credit where it's due, they did a great job rebuilding. We just kinda flopped on the whole coordinator side after Graham left.
  14. I just don't get all the UTSA love in the polls this year...what am I missing? No real superstars, just returning a lot of starters after a not-as-terrible-as-it-should-have-been year? Reminds me of a few years back when they were campaigning for an undefeated season. That did no end well for the fighting Fried Chicken
  15. Should we be? Hell yeah. I'm green for life. But we need to consistently beat KFC university (aka north mexico university.... Aka UTSA fighting colonels)... So yeah, SL needs to pull up his big boy britches and do the job
  16. we've had, at a minimum, the NFL footprint to follow. There are established industries and agents completely rabid to get into this money stream. I hope WB and Co have done some courting of those specialist.
  17. It was just an example. Pick any North Texas company that may want a slice of the pie. This is a business opportunity for them. In theory, you spend on advertising and get more income. If this NIL business model works, then companies will start using it. Which could result in some nice boosters to the school. Think a couple years back, as it trickles down, someone could maybe have seen Mason Fine and said there's a potential sponsorship name there. Or Darden even now that he's drafted. We have a few marketable players, it could happen.
  18. There could be some upside potential as this shuffles people through different schools. Example: A. Gatorade sponsors some camps and ads for guys at Alabama, but only has so much funds to distribute. So the top 5 players there get some nice income, etc... B. The next 5 players see more monetary gain else, for example maybe Hyundai decides to pick up that missed SMU market, so they jump ship and head to SMU C. But those next 5 at SMU say they wouldn't be caught dead in a Hyundai (after all, that's where they store the hookers bodies), but that Peterbilt billboard sponsorship contract in Denton seems kinda nice, since that degree will only be worth driving a fork lift after mom and dad's trust fund dries up... Point is, top schools will always get the best representation, but at some point the money supply runs out (in theory), and they go to the next best place to roost, and then the next, and the next to keep chasing that income stream. It doesn't fix the disparity between programs, but it could put some high profile folks at schools that can "entice" them after higher schools run out of opportunities (not saying the schools are paying, but obviously Nike is more likely to sign an athlete from Clemson than, say, Southern Alabama)
  19. 2 counterpoints to the statistically best argument: A). Our first half production was bottom of the barrel, lot of that on the line forcing QB runs and poor throwing yardage (and the constant changing of QBs throughout). We put up a lot of garbage time points once our Oline starters were going against 2nd stringers, etc... B). With our Defense just letting them basically throw the ball into the endzone each series, our offense was out there a lot more forcing some additional numbers on them that may look better than they are That said, I'm not exactly enamored with our line yet, but there's potential, and still miles ahead of previous lines (*cough* poor mason fine *cough*). They will hopefully be more rested (unless our defense becomes a 3 and out machine, but I don't see the downside there). More experienced. And I hope they are feeding those boys better.
  20. Yeah, I feel like my view on SL is well known (and rather disproved of) 108 does seem low. Defensively maybe. Offensively a bit higher. Surprised to see sonny so low too
  21. I respect a good bit of fun bait and antagonizing, but this is low effort even for you. Try harder next time, you have a reputation to maintain!
  22. Innocent until proven guilty. Like above, with last years team + player loses (and this years unknowns in transfers/fresh), we have nothing to base improvement off of... Except the sheer power of the Murphy twins this year should net us a nice pre-season boost. Going to be monsters on that field with a proper coordinator.
