  1. Matt Araiza (yes, the possible rapist) used a 3 step technique en route to being a 6th round draft pick. Jordy Sandy of TCU uses the 3 steps as well and was one of the best punters of 2022. If the punter has a strong leg, this gives the most positioning control and distance.
  2. Fix what? Some coaches prefer the rugby style because they're harder to return, make up for weaker legs, and mask poor blocking. The 3 step technique is still used across the NFL and some of the top college punters still use it. Nothing to do with the technique. Blocking has to be better.
  3. I made the same observation. To note, to our higher average only includes the 7 players rated. If the other 6 receive low ratings due to being lower sought after recruits, that average will drop. Personally, I care little about stars. I care about how many other offers they had at some point and whether or not they actually make it to campus.
  4. How many accounts do you have that you can give multiple upvotes on one comment?
  5. You're telling me one of the best punters in the NFL can use a 3 step technique without getting it blocked but a college punter can't? I realize many college punters do the rugby style but off the top of my head, the Baylor punter uses a 3 step technique and was honorable mention All Big 12. Shouldn't be a problem.
  6. Does he still count as a scholarship player until he's officially gone and has his spot been filled in anticipation of him leaving? If he decides he wants to stay and the staff wants him here, is there a spot for him?
  7. Not that this does anything to wins and losses but SL always seemed to recruit players of high moral character. I can't think of any SL players getting in trouble with the law. I met Nic Smith and Jordan Murray at the Texas State Fair when they were here. Separate occasions but I introduced myself to them and told them I watched every game. Brought up to Smith a long TD run he'd had in a recent game and he got so excited and said "you do watch every game!" All that to say, they were very friendly and represented UNT very well. I know a few guys who work with Wyche and he's doing very well for himself, too. We had deep RB rooms all of SL's tenure so I'm not going to hold Smith and Wyche's limited production against them. Can't have 5 RBs on the field at once. I hope Morris keeps recruiting high character individuals.
  8. Littrell was hired December 5th. Morris was hired December 13th.
  9. Glaring omission: where the f did the official thread go? Even in notifications I can't access it. Edit it's back on the football page. Must have been an issue on my end because I couldn't get to it. Showed to be deleted.
  10. His bird app profile says he's 6'2" 205 pounds. If accurate, I don't see why that'd be a problem.
  11. Apparently runs track and a 4.42 40 yard dash. Interested to see how he develops.
  12. Clearly UNT made him an NIL offer he couldn't resist.
  13. Are we going to get mad if/when he de-commits from Texas State to commit to UNT or do we only get mad when it's the other way around?
  14. Oh dang. OK. Had no idea. Good to know. Outside of Morris, I don't think I'd recognize most of the new staff yet. Thanks!
  15. Supply and demand. If people stop paying for sex, there's no money in prostitution and no market for sex trafficking. This is about targeting those who pay for sex. This is no different than setting up an operation for child sex trafficking and having undercover officers sell sex as underage kids online. Just because there was no actual kid, it doesn't mean it doesn't target child sex trafficking. It's about targeting the payee who creates the market for pimps to operate in. Many of these prostitutes are doped up and feel stuck because they've been physically beat and broken down emotionally so much so while they may be "consenting" up front, there's more going on in the background. This isn't just somebody buying a $5 trick from a homeless person on park lane.
  16. Counterpoint: that 2021 class were redshirt freshmen last year and already included several of our top players such as Gumms, Blair, Vailea, and Rod Brown. Many are still here and still have time to develop.
  17. FSU has 2 freshmen safeties, 2 freshmen corners, and a transfer corner all committed for the 2023 class. Hopefully they're done in the DB department. Aside from their current commits, I think they're well aware of the SOC defense considering the recent state championships and recruiting one of the SOC LBs. If they haven't offered yet, I hope it indicates they're not after them.
  18. Do you think the staff will be pulling offers from players regularly if they start taking visits elsewhere despite being committed to UNT? Or will that be case by case. I kind of like the idea of telling kids you're either with us or you're not. If you're still shopping, we'll move on from you.
  19. This may be a bad take but I noticed the man he's standing with in the second photo is not much taller than him. If that's his father it makes me wonder how much more he has to grow and how that'll affect his QB potential in high school and beyond. Edit: this was an absolutely horrible take as that's one of the new members of the staff that I completely whiffed on recognizing. Thanks @Cr1028.
  20. Kingsbury was a quality control coach at Houston when Mahomes was in 8th grade. He offered Mahomes when he got to Tech in 2013.
