  1. Hate to say it but I'm becoming a believer.
  2. That's what we said last season after UTEP. Hopefully tonight is not a predictor for what's to come.
  3. Looked like a foul to me on that Huntsberry drive. Regardless, nobody else to blame. Can't shoot 3-13 from 3 and expect a win.
  4. I'm stuck between Jemison and Gaines, both from UAB. Jemison and Ousmane would be a force down low together. While Ousmane is very talented offensively, he's a bit thin and Jemison is a physical force who is a rebounding machin. I think he would compliment Ousmane very well. Gaines, on the other hand, is a younger player being listed as a sophomore but he's a talented scorer with a lot of upside. I'd love to have him for the next 2 seasons.
  5. I've come from the future to tell you it's now 38-34.
  6. UAB up 50-13 with 3 minutes left in the first half.
  7. And he does so for a reason. Grant keeps a tight rotation. If he's got a guy on the court, it's because he's earned it with hard work and performance. May not be to your liking. You're also not the one coaching UNT to yet another 20+ win season.
  8. This is a huge game, honestly. I believe it's our last shot at a Quad 2 win before the conference tournament. A win here would make us 4-3 in Quad 1 and Quad 2s combined as things stand.
  9. A guy playing 16 minutes per game for a team that's 23-5 and the second best defensive team in the country couldn't get any playing time for most programs in the country? This is one of the worst takes I've seen on this board. Good job. We love to tear down our own no matter how good the team is doing. Grant is a great coach who's got the program rolling. If he's playing a guy, there's a reason why.
  10. They shouldn't be. 0-1 in Quad 1 games. 15 of their wins have come against Quad 4 teams.
  11. It sure isn't once Houston leaves. I really think UNT, UAB, and maybe FAU (obviously having a good season but need to see it more than once) have what it takes to keep the basketball side of the AAC up but don't know if it'll be enough to earn multiple bids moving forward. Current NET rankings: #1 UH, #20 FAU, #39 Memphis, #46 UNT, #64 UAB, #76 UCF, #80 Cincy, #87 Tulane. That's the top 100 between the current AAC and CUSA. We lose UH, UCF, and Cincy but at least replace Cincy and UCF with better teams as they are this season. Going to need strong OOC wins next season if the new AAC wants multiple bids.
  12. I just recently found out. If Owen McCown wins the UTSA starting job when Harris is finally done, it'll be fun to watch sons of two former NFL quarterbacks play in our conference. Hopefully it brings a bit of attention to the AAC assuming the college world doesn't catch on late like they did with Frank Gore Jr playing for Southern Miss. There's actually quite a few sons of former NFL players in college right now not named Shadeur Sanders and Marvin Harrison Jr. Some great names on this list: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2022/08/03/college-football-2022-18-players-famous-nfl-fathers/10220528002/
  13. I saw. We're getting no help in all these close games. I think it'll come down to their last 2 games plus ACC tournament anyways but a bad loss less than a month before selection sunday would have been nice.
  14. Notre Dame up 27-19 at the half against UNC. If the Notre Dame pulls this off, it may be the nail in the coffin for UNC's at large hopes.
  15. We'll face his son October 14th as EJ Warner is expected to start at QB for Temple. 18 TDs, 12 INTs, 3000 yards on 60% completion as a freshman last season. https://owlsports.com/sports/football/roster/e-j-warner/15663
  16. Had to throw everything he said out with that statement. Before you make a video like that, at least try verify your facts.
  17. I wonder if Morgan would have been called in but with limited experience, that would have been rough to bring him in cold into OT. Hopefully Martinez gets healthy. We've got much more depth that last season but that gets dicey if Martinez is hurt.
  18. So there's never once been a shooting guard who was in for defense and not scoring? Tony Allen (3 time NBA all defensive first team, 3 time second team) was listed as a shooting guard and was not a scorer. DeShawn Stevenson was another low scoring defensive shooting guard. Patrick Beverley is listed as a point guard but that doesn't mean he's in to be a distributor either. If we're being real, Stone may be listed as a guard but in a traditional 1-5, he'd occupy the 3 spot. At times he was even the 4 against UTEP.
  19. I think UAB has enough leeway. As long as they're top 75, they stay Quad 1 for our away win. They're currently 66. On the flip side, Rice is 2 spots away from falling from a Quad 3 loss to a Quad 4 loss. That'll hurt us much more IMO. Not a CUSA game but Utah State is tied at 33 against 8-18 Wyoming. A loss there probably knocks Utah State out of at-large consideration since they have 0 Quad 1 wins barring a run in the MWC conference tourney. Texas Tech is up 2 vs OU. A loss in Norman should knock them back down a bit. Miss State was a "Last 4" in by many but lost to Mizzou. At 9, SJSU takes on Nevada. A SJSU win would be huge for us. Big games tonight.
  20. Stats don't paint the whole picture. Many of his shots early in the season were 3s at the end of the shot clock because everybody plays hot potato and nobody would take the shot until it got to him and he had no choice. Those are low percentage shots. Since the starters have been healthy, he's the 5th option pretty much any time he's on the court. Unless it's a lay-up or an open 3, his light is about as red as it gets. I don't think it's a question of being capable, I think it's just not the way they want the offense flowing. He's in for defense. He's one of our best perimeter defenders and anybody who's just now seeing his value hasn't been paying attention. Back to scoring, we all know we play a slow pace. Points per game are low on our team because of it. Eady is averaging 7ppg less than last year and Martinez is averaging 10 less ppg. Looking at points per game, regardless of why we believe a guy was recruited, is not going to be a good indicator of their performance in this system.
  21. Really great to see people get a pass by their coaches, AD, and local DA because they're the star player of one of the top ranked teams. Maybe Brandon Miller wouldn't get a pass for supplying the gun used in a homicide if he weren't averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds per game for the number 2 team in the country. Wonder what would happen if it were UNT.
