  1. No sorry still wrong. Take the 5 yd penalty and get the 11th guy on the field. And the to on the fg try is inexcusable. And yes the players need to execute and play smart. Dumb penalties.
  2. And the bad coaching continues. Great timeout when we block a field goal. Awesome.
  3. Be careful. I posted that in its own thread and was told I was way off the mark!
  4. So you think wasting a timeout at their 40 to save 5 yards when on the next play the punt was 10yds into the endzone was smart? Also now second drive with a hobbled knee and Thompson didn't look good. But hey, I'm way off the mark.
  5. We have 4th down on their 40. Play clock running out and we call timeout. WHY!!!!?? Take the penalty. 5 yards there doesn't matter. And then macek boots it 10yds into the ends endzone. But hey we saved those 5 yards. And after one possession with a hobbled Thompson is also terrible. If he is like this all game he has to be pulled. If not unlv can key even more on the run and our pass playbook is limited because he can't move. And he already isn't accurate now he'll be less accurate and worried abt the knee. I hope in two hours I have to eat crow. But terrible coaching right now Let be known i love Mac.
  6. So funny you say post this. My wife was getting annoyed last night because I kept pointing it out or screaming out when they showed the bowl lineup for today. It's like Christmas morning for me.
  7. Nearly brought a tear to my eye. Awesome!!
  8. Awesome. That wins the internet for me today!!
  9. I find it odd that people on this board can so vehemently announce a starter for next season when I am guessing no one here was in every practice during the season. To base it solely on what we saw in mop up time seems a bit ambitious IMO. I don't know how any of us can have a real good assessment of the situation. But that is just me. I have no idea who will start but I am still so intrigued by the fact Brock was rated in between Johnny Football and Evert Golson coming out of HS. I know, I know, I know that pretty much makes me stupid. But it is just so intriguing to me. One thing is FOR SURE. Please Coach Mac. I beg of you and pray to everything that is good a just PLEASE DO NOT ROTATE QBS!!! Please, I beg of you!! What is the old saying? If you are playing 2 QB's you don't have 1 good one? Or something like that.
  10. I take this as if he stays committed he is a great kid. If he decommits he is a bad kid. Hmmmmm.
  11. Hold grudges much? Over the years it has seemed to me that those that disparage Craig on here do so because he doesn't tout UNT like he does OU combined with the fact they don't like the ticket because they don't talk sports every segment. Craig grew up in Oklahoma and was a sports freak. He knew he wanted to be in media and knew North Texas was his best avenue. For him it was a means to an end. I can't fault the guy for that. Nor can I fault him for still having his affinity for OU. He grew up watching one of the most dominant college programs ever and it made a forever lasting impression. Over the last few years he has never talked badly about NT and recounts fondly his time at NT and the RTVF program. Because he doesn't drink the green kool-aid like Georgio or any of us doesn't mean he should get ripped. Just my .02 And side note, as someone that spent 6 years in sports radio every segment about sports gets BORING!!!!!! There are only so many times you can breakdown the secondary of the Seattle Seahawks. UGH. I remember if I spent even half a segment not talking sports I would get nasty emails berating me for not talking sports every single second. What a beating.
  12. It would be awesome the next time a troll strikes absolutely nobody responds to him. Then it just dies.
  13. So since I can't get enough Mean Green football I watched the C-USA Replay on FSSW. It's amazing how when the plays are edited so tightly together it gives you a different feel for the game. Really fascinating. My two main takeaways: 1. That defense was suffocating. It seemed like 4 out of 5 plays our guys were on top of Tulsa. Our team is full of such amazing tacklers it is unreal. And I am so impressed with how far Kenny Buyers has come. That dude reads plays so well and breaks on the ball and we all know how good of a tackler he is. Laramie Lee can flat out play. Hit, cover, read. He could be an NFL Safety despite his size. And I know Zach is the leader and amazing, but I am will be just as sad to see Will Wright graduate. He is simply fantastic in getting to the ball and making plays. And finally, why does anyone try to go outside on that defense? 2. The O-line if full of beasts. I know, this is no surprise, but wow they are athletic and physical. I know my two points aren't earth shattering or new revelations. But watch that C-USA replay and tell me you don't have a different perspective. Now granted I was unable to watch the UTSA game, but something tells me that if NT played that way against the RR we would have won by 2 TD's. I know UTSA is better than Tulsa, but that team looked nearly unbeatable.
  14. A few points here. 1. In my opinion, a highlight tape is no way to judge which player is better. 2. Yes, Texas HS football is better than Colorado. And yes, I agree, our state cultivates as many great players as any state if not more. 3. However, in addition to more quality players, is it also possible there are more TX QBs in college/NFL than CO because of the sheer number of kids playing football in TX compared to CO? % breakdown would be very telling. 4. I do respect the opinion of everyone on the board whether I disagree or not My overall point is I think it is a bit short-sighted to say that most all players tend to be better because they are from Texas as opposed to another state.
  15. I don't mean to come across rude, but what a completely ridiculous generalization. While of course I agree the HS football in Texas is better than Colorado, to make the general claim that QB's in TX tend to be better because they played in Texas is just plan crazy. So you give the edge to Dajon because he played in TX and Brock in Colorado? I'm not saying for sure Brock is better. I have no idea. You can't base it on highlights. But I would never just generally say they both look similar on tape but Dajon is better because he played in Texas. I seem to remember a Rivals ranking of dual threat QBs and Brock was sandwiched between Evert Golson and Johnny Manziel. Again, not saying he is those guys, nor am I saying he is better than Dajon, but to just simply dismiss him because he played in CO is ridiculous. It reminds me of the time my sister had chicken McNuggets at one McDonald's in Montreal. She made the claim McNuggets are much better in Canada than the United States. Just a dumb blanket generalization.
  16. Make no mistake about it there is plenty of blame to go around. On another thread I commented on how the team didn't play championship defense on Saturday. I guarantee you every man on that defense would agree with that, Zach Orr even said as much. I think most everyone that follows this team knows defense and special teams has carried the load. No surprise. So when the defense has an off day it gets magnified and ends up in a loss. But yes the offense probably does shoulder most of the load. Poor throws, dropped passes, bone-headed procedure penalties inside the 10 and on and on and on. It has been a broken record for this offense for the last how many weeks?
  17. Absolutely great post. And you know what I am guilty of this too. On Saturday I was listening and getting all bent out of shape and worked up. Then I remembered with the expectations I had prior to the season, emotionally I am now playing with the house's money. In August if I were presented with our current situation I would have said you are crazy and taken no questions asked. This program is on the right path. Now we need a bounce back to finish 8-4. And there isn't anyone on this board that would have passed on 8-4 prior to the season because they expected more. Hell, I venture to say 99% would have banked 7-5!!
  18. Please don't blame the refs. Those arguments drive me crazy. The refs didn't allow UTSA to convert 80% of their 3rd downs.
  19. Any bowl but the NO Bowl. I DO NOT want to play a Sunbelt team.
  20. Interesting that we are just a few weeks removed from arguing if DT is a HOF. Unfortunately not being able to see the game I can't really give much opinion. While I don't doubt DT struggled and the drops killed us the most frustrating thing in listening to the game was almost every 3rd down. I got sick and tired of UTSA being in 3rd and long and then hearing George say some incarnation of Souza back to pass....complete for a first down. Just disgusting. Of course the defense has been the backbone this season no question! But that was terrible. Skladany has the guys say "Championship Defense" in the locker room. That was nowhere near championship defense on Saturday. Plain and simple. Zach Orr even admitted it. And also funny how a few weeks ago we were comparing this defense to 2002. No chance the '02 defense allows that many 3rd down conversions.
  21. Thank you all. My wife asked what I wanted for my b-day and I said a 30 point NT win tomorrow!!
  22. You know I don't know if this will draw me one million negative votes, but I suppose it will. But frankly I've been a bit perplexed/confused/embarrassed regarding some of the posts/posters the last few weeks on this board. I don't know how we can simply look down upon UTSA as if they are a second class university or not worthy of being on the same field as NT. Have I missed something? Some people here are acting as if we have the tradition of excellence of Alabama. In reality we don't have the tradition of excellence that TCU has. We are having a fantastic season with a program on this rise, but we are only a few years removed from arguably the lowest point in the history of the football program. Yet, somehow we have people that can readily cast aspersions that UTSA doesn't deserve being in C-USA or are only around for a market or blah, blah, blah. And? So what? When NT was trying to get into a new conference how many topics were posted about how attractive NT was/is because we are in the DFW market? Yet, for now when C-USA looks to attack a market. WHAT??!! That is just outlandish. To me it reeks of a sibling that has just witnessed their brother/sister getting a new toy and they are crying and saying, "NO FAIR!" Am I the only one that likes the idea of a in-state rival? Whether it ends up being UTSA, Rice, SMU, whomever, I don't care. Has our program come so far that we can just simply disregard another program that also has a chance at a conference title? To me, NO! Digi, as for you post I respect most of it. I would leave the alumni part out of it. Yes you have only been around since 1969, but our alumni since since that time frame is a who's who of athletes, actors and business leaders. Not that UTSA isn't a nice institution, but you don't hold a candle there. Oh, and you while I respect the job Coker and company has done, you don't have a chance Saturday. Best of luck and let the negative votes begin. Regards, Patrick Cortes - Class of 2000
  23. Let me say that I 100% agree he will make it somewhere. Whether on a 53 man or practice squad. And yes I have just recently become aware of all three phases of the game. Even with my limited knowledge of the game, I do know that NFL teams don't draft guys in the 3rd round to play special teams. 1st day draftees are expected to start or contribute heavily unless a project QB. Special teams guys are left for 6th, 7th and undrafted. Again, I hope I am wrong, I really do, but I am just being realistic. That being said my assessment could be way off and if you are right I will be as happy as a stuck pig! Bottom line is he is one of the greats NT has ever seen and will be sorely missed next year. Thank goodness we have 4 more games to watch him.
