  1. Beat me to it on Clark. Vandy lost a lot of commits after Franklin left, and they started scrambling like crazy. Good luck to Clark there. Also, Southern Miss has been signing quality d-linemen. No surprise, but they'll be tough competition in the West in upcoming years.
  2. Sorry, not a fax. But a vine of our Carthage boys signing/getting ready to sign. Courtesy of the awesome Gabe Brooks. Also, if Fortenberry was the only grayshirt then we may only sign 22 this year (including the walkons, FBS transfer, grayshirt, JUCOs, and high school guys) if Chumley, Jackson, and Graham all end up grayshirting and we don't get any surprise signees today. A surprise signee or two would be nice, as would be bringing in one or two of those three grayshirting guys in a semester early for fall camp, but however many under 25 we sign this year, we can go over by that many next year.
  3. Good luck buddy! Hope signing day puts a smile on your face when you wake up.
  4. SIAP, but Tee Goree cracked the Rivals Texas Postseason Top 100 for 2014. The last guy we had make that list was Riley Dodge 6 years ago in 2008, and before that was Jamario Thomas in 2004. That was 10 years ago. That makes Tee not just our third player in the last 10 years, but in the 12 years of the Rivals Texas Postseason Top 100 (dates back to 2003) we have only had those three make that list. And he had crazy production on his way to leading Carthage to a state championship as a legitimate 6'2" barefoot (according to BigDanTeague) receiver. Again, whether you emphasize stars, rankings, film, offer list, high school production, or character most, this is a great class.
  5. Exactly. But in all honesty, it's just a frame of reference. Especially after they finish their college football careers. The more important thing is a player's offer list (who you beat out and who wanted him at some point), his highlight tape, and production. We have players who have some pretty sweet offer lists, great highlight tape, and absolutely dominated on the high school level like you would hope to see from your signees.
  6. Oh, sorry. Misread on my part. It's Fonzale Davis. 3-star on 247 and ESPN, and Dave Campbell Texas Football All-State selection:
  7. Good morning guys! Yes Plumm, number 9 is qb Connor Means. The Deer Park QB already on campus.
  8. Do you know which safety position John and Busby are playing, respectively?
  9. Yes, but does 224th in the country in rebounding margin look a lot better? Because that's what we are.
  10. I think we have the second to worst rebounding margin in the conference. Or something like that. We've been bullied on the boards and been outrebounded in almost all of our conference games. Not to mention BYU outrebounded us 60-38. As has been said on here, rebounding may not be one of our top problems, but it has been an exposable weakness. Our total rebounding rank is very misleading.
  11. Yes, it does. I think the catch is that you can only count 1 win against FCS opponents towards your bowl eligibility per year. I think the other catch is that you can't count an FCS win towards your bowl eligibility in back to back years. So scheduling an FCS opponent in 2015 may not be in the cards. A lower rated FBS opponent like Idaho would be preferable anyways, for bringing a team in for one game.
  12. Actually, I don't think he would. I think FBS scholarship transfers count towards the signing class of the year in which they become eligible. Think guys like Trice and Anthony Wallace. Trice was here for the 2011 season but was a part of the 2012 signing class, then began playing in 2012. Unless they graduate then transfer as a grad student (like Russell Wilson, basketball guys like Vaughns and Gaines). Then they count immediately, but it would still technically be the year they become eligible to play for the new school. But yeah, I would expect Reese to be a walkon. At first at least.
  13. Absolutely agree. Then FIU is senior night, so it's not as big a deal that it's just FIU.
  14. Man, what a stacked football conference this is becoming. Especially in the east. Charlotte and ODU are located in two of the best per capita recruiting hotbeds in the country (Charlotte and Chesapeake/Norfolk). FIU and FAU are in South Florida, maybe the all-time recruiting hotbed and right up there with Dallas, SoCal, and Atlanta as the best recruiting regions in the country. And those are the schools that are not supposed to be the big name football schools in the East. Throw in that prestigious Marshall football program, a school that won't settle for mediocrity in WKU, and a similar school in MUTS that is stationed in one of the budding recruiting areas in the country in metro Nashville. We might have all these Texas schools, Southern Miss, and La Tech to deal with, but going forward the East division schools will provide great competition. Really need to establish ourselves as the premier Texas school in CUSA. Can't be playing second fiddle to any of the Texas schools in CUSA.
  15. Exactly. This schedule and last year's schedule are and were both independent. UAB will be added to the fold in the west and from there the conference will be set. This also assumes there will be no departures in the next two to three yeas which is never something that should be assumed.
  16. Yeah, I agree. Actually played against Marquez in the first round our senior year. One man show, let me tell ya. I agree about all those factors, not to mention the schools over here are bigger as well. At least that's what I remember. Then you've got the schools like Allen that just have way too many kids, coupled with those resources and it's not fair. School size coupled with resources over here just make it almost unfair. Also agree that those areas should still be targeted in recruiting. Just not as primarily as other regions. I'd rather target East Texas kids right now.
  17. I hope they can prove me wrong, but football west of Abilene is dead. It'd be very good for Texas High School Football if the Midland and Odessa schools rose up to prominence again, but they just haven't been relevant statewide in a while.
  18. Gladewater was in it last year instead of Carthage, right?
  19. I agree. As a player, I loved having big games against the non-district portion of our schedule. But if you're going to let 4 teams into the playoffs out of each district then the districts might as well be big and tough.
  20. UTSA as the last game on the schedule strikes me as something that could become an annual thing.
  21. I agree. I wouldn't be completely opposed to them being a road game in 2015 as well, once the schedules get re-done. The funny thing is, Birmingham is about the same distance as El Paso.
  22. Whoever comes out of region 1 will win the state championship IMO. Stacked.
