  1. Oregon, Oregon State, and Arizona are also reported to have emergency meetings tomorrow as well.
  2. It's looking like an almost sure thing. I say "almost" because you never know with these things until an official announcement is made. But with this many sources reporting it there is too much smoke for there not to be a fire.
  3. I'm cool with SJSU, North Alabama..... not so much. I'm of the mind that any FBS game is better than an FCS one.
  4. I saw this on their socials the other day. Is it just new panels for the jumbo?
  5. It's also funny seeing SMU/SDSU posters on different boards coming to the defense of the Pac12.
  6. I love hearing first hand accounts of things, mostly because I feel like our AD is not very open to sharing gritty details. I wish more posters on this board would share these insights.
  7. Not the first time it's been talked about. This tweet came out quite a few days ago. Notice it says a more substantive framework will be presented on their media day, not that any kind of deal or even numbers/final numbers would be presented. There is no concrete info on a date and everyone is just guessing. So take the good and bad reports with a huge grain of salt, as most things out are best guesses.
  8. The Big12 is not going to vote in a team that would lower their payout, and I don't think the networks are willing to take SDSU at a full share so no, I don't see it happening.
  9. I figured it was a money issue. We should have done everything we could to make it close to that, even if it meant doing it in phases or building the endzone at a future time.
  10. I still remember the video they used to promote the stadium vote, and how excited I was about how the stadium looked. That is what we should have gotten.
  11. You are publicly airing out some of the internal issues of the PAC, further damaging it's perception while it's under media negotiations. Maybe only to a small degree, but even so you don't give the media more fuel to an already sensitive topic. Imagine if you interviewed someone for a new job, then you tell them to wait for a followup call. Then that person calls you and says they told their current job they were planning on leaving, so let them know when they get the job. I'd be pissed and embarrassed if UNT behaved this way.
  12. They do. SDSU knew and was told that any expansion decision would come after the media rights deal was made. The PAC has to get everything in order to present numbers and scenarios to its members. The PAC has been under tremendous pressure and scrutiny from the media, they don't need SDSU adding fuel to the fire. If they have been inept or not doesn't matter, SDSU went rogue and tried to leverage their way in. How is that not negative?
  13. I'm hoping those are just guide lines to help them paint the logo on level. Also did they use the dark green from the outline of Texas for the star? This better be changed to match the green of the endzones.
  14. I'm surprised they went with white. I was sure it would be a green A with white trim.
  15. I struggle to understand your posts sometimes, I can't be the only one on this board. We are saying the same thing: SDSU made a huge mistake and should kept their mouth shut.
  16. They have zero leverage, so as long as it takes if they want to get in. The PAC12 has said it won't decide on expansion until media rights are done. There has been no solid info on a media rights deal close to being done. I get the frustration, but SDSU had no reason to notify the MWC. It was risky and created national headlines that put further pressure and scrutiny on the PAC.
  17. This is beyond embarrassing for SDSU. Not just from the MWC side, but if you were a member of the PAC what would you think about an institution that didn't have the patience to wait for everything to be done by the book? Did they just try to leverage/rush the PAC into making a choice? Is that the kind of school you want in your conference?
  18. Again at this point SDSU doesn't want to be in a conference long term, we are all assuming they will want to be in the PAC in 2025 (2024 doesn't seem to be happening unless they come up with $34M.) They have no conference revenue for 2024, so apart from being on the hook for $17M they would pay an additional $8M? Also what kind of payout would they get? It'd be unfair to get a full share while the rest of us get half shares. The AAC media deal runs out in 2031, so if they are in the conference that long they might as well wait another year and leave with no penalty. I just don't see a way for them to join unless they commit to stay for the duration of the current AAC deal.
  19. Possible, but I struggle to think of a deal that would benefit both sides. A short deal with an easy out benefits SDSU, but what does that do for the AAC? Where would the money come from and what kind of share would SDSU get? A long term deal would allow the AAC to negotiate some more money and it would help the conference's perception, but this would lock SDSU in a contract that would surely cost them another exit fee. They are already paying $17M to get out of the MWC, then another $18M to leave the AAC? I don't see that happening. The logistics to make it happen just don't seem to be there.
  20. The MWC has already started to process of removing SDSU from the conference, so yes. They will either get the invite or be conference-less in 2024.
  21. 80% of the US lives east of the 98th meridian. For those that don't live out west I think it's hard to grasp the vast stretches of empty space that exist. What's more if you take out the west coast with San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle the rest is virtually empty. This is a huge problem that the PAC12 can't do anything about, the west simply doesn't have enough people to compete for ratings, and what's more if you live out here you know that culturally sports do not have a fanatical following like they do out east. The few exceptions I have seen are Oregon, Utah, maybe Arizona basketball.
  22. Very possible, but at least they have viable replacements that make geographic sense. Memphis, USF, Tulane, and whoever of the rest of the AAC stands out in the next decade. We better be ready to make noise, as this could be the last ticket out of G5.
