  1. Knowing the financial benefits that a high profile, successful athletics department can bring a university, this makes perfect sense.
  2. Absolutely!! For me, I'd like to add a stipulation that the stadium construction needs to on "this date", and be completed no later than a specified date/year. Some of us would like to see this stadium before we start pushing daisies! And no 20,000 capacity stadium! This could be our only shot, so let's be bold and forwarding thinking. 35,000 to 40,000 minimum!
  3. Serious question. What would a "reasonable" amount be to pledge for the average Joe Mean Green Fan? And over how many years to pay it off? I'm sure there will many different donation amounts that will eventually presented. Would a $5,000 or $10,000 donation pledge over a 5-7-10 year payoff be reasonable? By average, I mean the 30+ year old working graduate.
  4. Not many folks in SE Texas would make the 700+ mile RT to Denton for a NT football game. But thanks for the suggestion.
  5. Thanks Rick. Sadly, I may be the only one at the game from my group. Three unused tickets?
  6. Yes, I did. About a third of their team are Texans.
  7. I received redemable ticket vouchers in the mail today from the athletic department for the La Tech game. Since I've had my season tickets to the game I was wondering why the vouchers were sent. Also, anyone know when the ULL tickets go on sale?
  8. ULL has several players, some starters that are from the DFW area.
  9. What I witnessed was two lousy offensive teams.
  10. Didja read the comment from the UCF fan? Although they are in CUSA by way of their one year stint in the MAC, they sure act as if they are the next coming of Notre Dame. Arrogant sumbitches.
  11. Here's to a speedy recovery. Get well soon Coach Dickey. Photo courtesy of Rick Yeatts.
  12. Oh, really? Had me fooled. When is NT going to go out and take advantage of this hotbed?
  13. Great that we can beat or get close to our own records. Too bad we can't win a few conference tournament games. God forbid we make it to the big dance. Talk about positive spin!
  14. We are closer in our thoughts than you realize. For this country to be here in 30 years, I just believe we need a strong military. You can develop all the technology you can dream of, and we are the best at it. But it still takes a force to carry out the missions. Viet Nam unpopular? I sure as hell didn't want to go there. I was one of the lucky ones to come home unscathed, no drug habits, and my head screwed on correctly. My reference to disfunctional youths is a product of our society and what seems to be an uncareing, immoral, and unpatriotic group. Should I paint the entire group this way? Of course not.
  15. Better yet, have the AD give out a "FREE" beer token at the tailgate to those ticket holders. You redeem them for that "FREE" beer in the new BEER ZONE.
  16. I attended the Miami - Houston game a few weeks ago and I never did see Cobbs on the sidelines. At least I could not recognize him with my binoculars. Is he still on the practice squad??
  17. This has nothing to do with Iraq. What you are saying is that you don't mind North Korea and Iran having the capabilities to manufacturer and launch nuclear bombs?
  18. This will not be a popular topic, but in todays state of world affairs, I fully believe it is time to re-instate the draft. We cannot depend on our so called "allies" to help us with countries like Iran and North Korea and an all volunteer Army, along with reserves is not the way to protect the USA. We have a porous border and there is no telling who is coming across. I was a draftee myself, having pulled a 13 month stint in Viet Nam, another unpopular war/conflict. My country called, I went. A draft might also help straighten out some of the disfunctional youth we have in this country.
  19. Anyone remember Northern Illinois? A mere grain of sand on the Div. 1A landscape, NIU was at the bottom of the 1A gutter rankings for several years. Heck, even a Matt Simon team went up there and beat them. Low and behold, they changed coaches! Now look at them. I'd say they have come a long way in a short period of time.
  20. I wish all tailgaters would get into the stadium, if for only a quarter or two. All colleges have this problem. But your idea would just about kill tailgating.
  21. We may be working on next seasons OOC schedule already. Let's see, Buffalo, Temple, some obscure 1AA team; who else can we schedule? Utah St? No, they beat Fresno last night.
