  1. With the talent we have coming back, hiring the right coach will make the new stadium opening a non-issue. The stadium is a done deal. Forget about it. Get the right coach and all else will fall into place.
  2. Amen. And I would object to anyone on the current coaching staff being promoted to HC. Including DeLoach and Gandy.
  3. In the unlikely event that Todd Dodge does return, it wouldn't surprise me to see Derek Thompson transfer to a 1AA school because of the redshirt burning.
  4. Disagree, you just run the wildcat for less than 2 minutes. Thompson's redshirt should not have been burned in this game.
  5. Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I must have been busy on "the deck".
  6. I was at the ceremony and it was very moving. Watch the video, then make a monetary commitment to the stadium fund. It's time for the Alumni base to step up to the plate.
  7. Unless I missed it, what happened to Army Parachute team bringing in the game ball? And what about the Blackhawk flyover?
  8. Yes, my mistake listing Cincy. I stand behind my MWC comments.
  9. If TCU, Cincy, and Boise make it to 3 of the five BCS "big money bowls", I'll be tickled pink. Make no mistake about it, I don't like the system. But at least some of this large cash will go to non-BcS conferences. Where I see this potentially going is the Mountain West Conference taking in Boise State and then being annointed as a BCS AQ conference. If this happens the rest of us will be sucking wind.
  10. Forget about the "smaller" Army players. Never underestimate the heart and desire of an Army of One.
  11. I attended the Houston Texans vs SF 49's game a few weeks ago and three paratroopers made the jump into Reliant Stadium with the game ball and American Flag. Very patriotic game, with both Bush Presidents there for the coin toss, several "wounded warriors" in attendance, and the halftime show featured the U.S. Marine Silent Drill Team from the Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. Tremendous event and support from the fans.
  12. Does anyone know if some type of flyover is planned?
  13. And when is his highness "Obama" going to make a decision on Afghanistan? He has two options: 1. Send another 40,000 troops like is field commanders say is needed or 2. Don't send more troops and pull the troops that are over there out before they are wiped out. Why do politicians try to run wars?
  14. Just heard over the weekend that Weis is finishing up his 4th year of a 10 year contract. Didn't Weis have a 10 year contract at $4 mil. a year? Whoa! A $24 mil buyout!
  15. Been checking the obituaries regularly in your neck of the woods, looking for your name; glad to hear you're still with us Plummer. Regarding your post(the highlighted part), that's what happens when your new head coach has to wait for the high school playoffs to end. Forget that his son was in the playoffs, Dodge should have been out recruiting the minute the ink dried on his new contract. Playoffs were more important than getting players for his new gig at North Texas. And if RV approved this, I'd say it was a major screwup.
  16. With all due respect, we've been hearing the "playing freshman and sophmore" excuse since we closed out the 2007 season. Many have left the program now.
  17. Stephens ran off players from the previous regime, including a academic all-american, and some of her own recuit(s) were no shows. Yes, we are only two games into the season, but some of us just feel a crap season coming on. Where do we get these people? I was a Capps fan. A proven coach.
  18. I'll quote a good friend of mine, "if Dodge is back, 5 wins does not cut it. That would be 4 straight losing seasons for him. We need to stop with the improvement over "his" previous year/team talk. He was hired to improve over the performance of the previous coach and that is what his evaluation should be based upon. "
  19. All I know is when I found the video stream a large group of FIU dancers/cheerleaders were gyrating in the end zone for the camera. God bless Florida and the beautiful women they produce.
  20. Spot on. Donna Capps was a missed opportunity for UNT. Instead, we hire all of the OJT trainees.
  21. Texas A & M-Corpus Christi knocked off Oregon State 67-43 last night before 8,541 Beaver fans. Last year OSU was at sub-.500 team at 13-16.
  22. Same crap happened in Viet Nam- politicians running the war. BHO can't make a decision unless it's for handouts or political favors in Chicago. Let me make the decision for him. Either send as many troops as your field commanders feel is needed to win the war, or simply bring the troops over there home. Pack it in and let the (radical Islamists) chips fall where they may. But God help us.
  23. I agree with this idea of a "culture of winning". But on the flip side, what about the culture of losing? Think about the Rutgers and Temples of the world. Look up and see what Rutgers did over the past decades, prior to the turnaround by their current coach. And Temple? The were so bad, the Big East kicked them out of the conference. I'm sure there are other examples. Point is, the culture of losing can be turned around with the right desire (by the university), the right coach, and the right staff.
