  1. As some of you may know from watching the news tonight one of my brothers, a fellow Dallas officer, was killed by a murder suspect. I ask that, if you are the least bit religious, you pray especially for the officer's family and for me...and Lera because she's a wreck (again) right now. Thank you.
  2. Diet coke boy is still in Denton and pouring better than ever.
  3. Now that you mention it, there are pom poms in that picture.
  4. Easily the top 4 teams in that tournament would be UConn, UT, Ohio State and North Carolina. If they seeded them all as #1's in the four different regions you would have the best final 4 ever. And I'd take UNC.
  5. Yes it could. Regardless of whether he is overrated, underrated, or rated just right he is a guard and we could definitely use a guard who could step right in and start...especially if he's capable of playing the point. Anyone know enough about his ball handling skills to know if he could play the point?
  6. Few observations early. First, pretty evenly matched. Second, anyone noticing that Memphis isn't pressing them the way they pressed us?
  7. Exactly right. Those that were in New Orleans can attest to how this works. We were up on Memphis then Memphis made a couple quick buckets. Almost as if on cue their crowd gets out of their seats and starts roaring...Memphis feeds off of this noise and completes a run that puts us down at the half. Then, in the second half when it looked like we might claw our way back into it, their crowd takes over the game again. I have only once seen a North Texas crowd take over a game. Plenty of times I've seen people tell others to sit down because their ruining their library atmosphere.
  8. Really? The difference between a model A and a model T isn't so important to me...accuracy and not being an ass towards those who value it is though.
  9. I know how you feel. Now let's talk about clubbing baby seals! I kid. I kid.
  10. In short order... I. Hillary Clinton wishes to replace the family with big government A. Random quote about a government program for preschoolers (ignoring that all programs for children in a tax driven democracy are "government programs" B. Random passages from scripture (their relevance or basis in the present argument be damned) C. You defended Hillary Clinton...you are therefore a Clinton person (or at the least a closet Democrat because you chose to "distance yourself from them") If this were an outline turned in by any American high schooler...even in a "non big government high school"...they would receive an F. Why? The subpoints don't logically, imperically, or even by slight correllation prove the original point. Look, like I said, I'm no "fanboy" of Hillary's. I may even vote Republican next presidential election. I just have a hard time swallowing or even stomaching tangential arguments set forth by anyone, or any party, where they set forth a fallacious stance for their opposition in order to lob weak arguments at it.
  11. So, if I point out the logical fallacies in your attacks on Hillary Clinton I am therefore a "Hillary person?" Jesus Christ (whoops) that's a hell (whoops again) of a logic leap! Next thing you know I'll be accused of being a JJ lover just because I say that Johnny Jones' coaching did not lead to every single loss we suffered this season...oh crap, too late for that one too.
  12. I am no Republican and no Democrat but I am a staunch believer in laughing at anyone from either side who employs straw man arguments to preach to a disinterested audience. The quote about "Imagine a classroom in which all children..." never IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM states that she would like to create said classroom through big government, additional spending or 'big brother' having a role at all. Perhaps if the quote had begun "Imagine a pointless war..." it could have included all three...but I digress. The biggest and most glaring portion of the anti HRC argument though is the tacit assumption that she wants to replace the family with government, the crux of the tirade in fact, yet there is not one shred of evidence given to prove the point. Furthermore, what do children in America between the ages of three and five do as it stands now? Do they not attend pre-school? All I read in that quote was that she would like for the classrooms to be sparkly and the teachers to be professionally trained. Let me tell you from first hand experience both as a police officer who takes part in in-school educational programs and as one who has seen the end result of poor schooling...if she can make it happen I don't care what her methods are short of kidnapping the children and putting them into camps. Now, it may very well be true that Clinton is a monster who will destroy the very fabric of American society (and if she is maybe she, like her husband, could bring unemployment to a low not seen by Republicans in decades or come up with an education plan that is more feasible than lip service unlike "no child left behind") but I can't glean that from the evidence put forth. Perhaps there is another passage in her book that could be more accurately bastardized? And, for the love of God, pun intended can we please not invoke scripture when engaging in a debate about the merits of a senator from New York? Again I am no Democrat, but even I can see that this is the current Republican regime's silver bullet when backed into a corner. Call America, or insert enemy, Godless and proclaim the need for Republicans to bring them back into the light. With this said, I could outline all that is wrong with Democratic leaders currently in power as well...it's just that they're the ones being called to task at the moment.
  13. Washing our crap? Gross. Is that an SMU thing?
  14. Done. Anyone else notice we are the only school with no logo that pops up when you select us? Also, Lera ordered a copy and doesn't know it yet.
  15. Claim that the phrase is patently republican to begin with and Hillary is evil for stealing it.
  16. No they don't. The Talons don't pay a dime for the right to sit on the front rows. That being the case, do like I and a few others do. Go sit down there and be loud as hell. I don't think anyone has the audacity to ask me to move from there and they wouldn't because we instigate 90% of the cheers they do. Except for the "stand up" cheer...that one rocks and is all Talons.
  17. 0-3 in GMG Bowls and still the most dangerous person on the field. I'd give my physical measurements and forty time but if you're covering me the only number that will matter is the time if takes you to come up with an excuse for getting torched. I'm glad I'm a coach this year because it makes the #1 draft pick at least somewhat of a mystery for once. I'm giving serious consideration to changing my name to Ike Turner for the day of the game...that way when I beat the person across from me mercilessly it'll make a bit more sense. The distance by which I plan to burn people for touchdowns is roughly equal to the distance by which FFRick is out of back of the endzone when he catches his "touchdowns"...about 10 yards. I'm gonna donate my flags to charity after the game...that way people on the opposing team will get a chance to touch them.
  18. I think it spot on with the posture of the North Texas crowd...seated and quiet. Also, I notice Jared Zabransky is the coverboy for NCAA Football 08. Anybody else think less copies will be sold in Oklahoma than last year?
  19. Tech, aTm-Corpus and NT all bowed out in the first round. Texas got run off the court in the second round by USC today. Looks like the Aggies will have to carry the "Texas banner" forward. Oh, and did I mention that SMU didn't even make the tourney?
  20. This would be the ideal game I think. It's another tourney team and it's got the big Texas aTm attached to it for the casual fan (you know, the ones who made their way to New Orleans but couldn't find the pit on a campus map ).
  21. I'm famous....and exhausted. Stayed for all four games yesterday and then drove all the way home. Let me say two things before I collapse though. First, if our team finds a shooter to replace Calvin's points and a backup point guard we will be HELL to deal with in the belt. Second, Florida is FOR REAL. As impressive as they looked on tv they looked 10 times that good in person.
  22. Will you be at the conference tournament? Sorry, couldn't resist.
