  1. How much is too much when you consider the number of designed runs? I agree that his touch and accuracy could not rival Meager's today but I don't think we should knock him for the one thing he brings to the table that nobody else can. Also, I don't think it can be overestimated how important and special 5,000 plus is for a spring game. If you took all 9 years of DD's tenure and combined them you wouldn't come up with 5k in the stands. This says to me that there are is a growing number of diehards and, more importantly, a good contingent of 'curious' souls out there.
  2. So you don't actually disagre with the comment you've just found the converse to be true. Disagreeing would be saying that the product on the field wouldn't improve despite a better product in the stands...and this theory, unfortunately, has never been tested.
  3. I look at projects like this and it makes me wonder why the big boys even include the first few weeks of their schedules in the win/loss columns. Spending at a rate 10 times that of the schools you schedule to fill out your schedule makes it virtually prideless to win.
  4. Good...the Villanueva tailgate will be in full effect.
  5. He would have spoken to community organizations but most of them have a problem with being called m'fers.
  6. Major, major kudos to the athletic department for pulling out all the stops.
  7. Different coach. New coach, new discipline.
  8. Reading his rivals bio it seems that he really likes NT. I know Thompson and Jordan Smith are big targets but is there a chance Busby-Hayden gets offered soon?
  9. From an article about Miami's new head coach Shannon...
  10. Seems we're the only school without a pre-existing relationship.
  11. American Idol as a microcosm of America's ills...sad but true.
  12. Justin, this may be the first time you've echoed my inner thoughts on something that didn't have to do with alcohol. In all serious what you say about the pressure to succeed is exactly what struck me when I heard about this incident. We live in a society where winners are idolized, second place is forgotten and the losers are either ostracized or belittled. Holding down a job, being kind to your spouse and caring for your children is no longer the benchmark for success in America. Instead it is the rich, the famous or, saddest of all, the notorious who command the headlines. Why? Because they are seen as the "best" in their fields...even if that field is being a social pariah. Couple this with the general sense of being anesthetized to violence and you have a recipe for disaster. Just last night while I was on duty the first call I answered for the night was a shooting. A guy who was out celebrating his birthday was robbed by three unknown males. He didn't give up his necklace without a struggle so they shot him in the head in front of his wife. Now his newborn baby will be fatherless because another maladjusted miscreant chose to take his life. In the last month I have attended the funeral of a fellow Dallas officer, stood outside the ER door over the body of an Irving officer while his family greaved, heard about this tragedy in Virginia and now this senseless homicide. Death is far too common lately.
  13. Strangely Fouts doesn't look so terrible from these photos.
  14. Gun control couldn't have prevented this. Armed police officers (or citizens) putting three to the chest and one to the head could have.
  15. The scrimmage was in the middle of the afternoon on a Monday...most people's first day back to work. As for me, I woulda been there but the wife told me I wasn't allowed to go.
  16. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...p;ATCLID=866725 This is the kind of stuff I'd love to see done over and over again. Even if the parents are Bevo-heads maybe we can hook (pun unintended) the little ones.
  17. For those that don't realize it...this is ingenius yet unfortunate humor.
  18. You're exactly right...but for the wrong reasons. "BCS" teams have Sun Belt schools littered all over their schedules so it's not that they won't 'play down to our level.' Additionally, as was stated already, MAC schools are not great leap up if any from Sun Belt schools. The difference is that if Baylor plays and beats Buffalo or NT the result is the same...a D1 win they can count towards their seaon record and bowl eligibility. If on the other hand they lose a game to Buffalo vs. NT the results are drastically different. A loss to Buffalo hurts in the short run because it will be talked about for about a week. A loss to NT hurts for a much longer time. Texas recruits see it and think differently about Baylor and NT. NT fans/alums who work in the next cubicle over from Baylor fans/alums notice it and talk smack. It's about prestige and being able to still sell the "We are Big XII and they can't compete with us" myth. Not true with Buffalo and the like. All of the same reasons above apply to UT, aTm, Tech, even Houston, Rice, SMU, TCU and UTEP.
  19. Wasted 'ship then. The Dodge offense doesn't have a set rhythm or pattern. It's designed to attack whatever the defense shows.
  20. I don't quite understand this stance. Short of playing in a BCS bowl name for me a better destination city when you take into account our geography, relative history of winning and accessibility.....
  21. Either the terms "safety" and "cornerback" are interchangeable in our new defense or the writer had several mental lapses.
