  1. Doesn't it strike you funny, though, that teams like OU, LSU, UT don't have to "take care of their business" all season long and can recover from a loss during the season? They seem to bounce back and be right back at the top of the BCS standings soon thereafter. Is USF not in a "BCS" conference? The bottom line is that USF doesn't yet have the cache or ratings pull of these other teams and it's a crock.
  2. Impossible. Even if USF had run the table and won every game by 10+ you would have seen a one loss OU, LSU, USC, etc jump them to play in the national title game.
  3. A great picture...unfortunately ruined by the douche in the UT hat.
  4. Anyone notice they're playing "You'll never walk alone" in the background?
  5. If you were TD what would you throw at Troy? My game plan would be a steady diet of J-Mo, Micah Mosley, Cam Montgomery, etc to keep the clock moving with a lot of the short to intermediate passing game mixed in. I would be about 60/40 run to pass. I wouldn't take a lot of deep shots and keep my play calling "low risk/low reward" in theory. If we have 10 possessions in the game and score (TD or FG) on 5-6 of them I would be ecstatic. If we could have a TOP somewhere in the 35-40:00 range I would with 21-35 points that is what I would shoot for. I know this sounds lot like Dickey ball but I think this is what it would take to beat Troy...at least until Gio grows up in the QB role more and the defense doesn't have shaky moments.
  6. H-Town I feel your pain. (Hmmm, I can't even type H-Town without thinking of that really really really bad R&B group from the 90's...but I digress. No, really, they were bad. I mean Color Me Badd kind of bad. We're talking LFO bad. But back to the subject at hand) Med is just callin it like he sees it. The defense is bad. Not H-town bad mind you, but still pretty bad right now. It's like watching your 4 year old play soccer. He/she will probably dribble toward their own goal, maybe even score on it, and just look generally lost out there as 14 kids all chase a ball around the field in a big herd. They're your kid so you still support them telling them "good job" and "nice effort" when they come off the field but it's clearly not the way joga bonita was meant to be played. It doesn't make you a bad parent to realize this, or even to point it out to others. Likewise we're not bad fans for saying the defense is b-a-d bad right now.
  7. How quickly some forget. I'm right there with you...it is possible. In 2000 we were 0-5 coming into the game against MUTS. We were also 21 point dogs. We won. Then ran the table. If anyone can tell me who we will be 21 point dogs to this year then I'll believe it is impossible.
  8. Perhaps I'm overly sensitive but this part of this sentence seems a bit insulting. Must we continue to degrade the athletes we have here or are trying to bring in?
  9. Just have a guard let slip that he killed the girl because she caught on that he was molesting her little brother. Rumors in prison don't have to be true.
  10. Confusing ULL's QB would have done nothing for us. It's confusing their O-Line who dominated our D-line and/or confusing their running backs who ran wild that would have helped.
  11. This weekend and last just further fuel my belief that a top 25 poll should not be released until mid October.
  12. I'm still firmly in the Vizza camp but I'll say it..again actually...OUR DEFENSE WILL LOSE EVERY GAME FOR US.
  13. Can threads be locked for utter silliness?
  14. NT- 21 ULL- 17 Vizza will be given 4 possessions. Three of them will end in touchdowns. One will end in an INT being returned for a ULL touchdown. Meager will throw for 5,000,000 yards between our 20 and their 45. Mapologists will point to these 5,000,000 yards, and Vizza's INT, as proof that DM is our man and will declare that there is not and should not be a QB controversy.
  15. It is obvious that the mapologists have missed the ENTIRE point of what I am saying. I'm not saying that Giovanni Vizza is perfect...just better than our current starter. Yes, he throws picks that result in points for the other team. On the flipside he also throws passes that result in points for our team. Or, phrased differently..."With Danny Meager in we will get blown out by BCS teams some exorbitant number to zero. With Vizza we will get blown out by BCS teams some exorbitant number to SOME NUMBER." Which, mapoligists, do you think is the easier fix? A freshman who makes freshman mistakes with some of his throws or a redshirt junior who makes freshman mistakes and the ball doesn't move forward? I know which one I would take. But, don't take my word for it...just look at the stats from the Arkansas game (since everyone is so enamored with throwing out numbers) Meager QB'd the first four possessions...and here they are: First Quarter Possession 1: Started at the NT 35 at 13:08 and ended at the NT 42 at 11:21. So that's a whopping 7 yards in 1:47. Possession 2: Started at the NT 15 at 9:51 and ended at the NT 15 at 8:28. So that's zero yards in 1:23. Possession 3: Started at the NT 18 at 6:12 and ended at the NT 22 at 5:06. 4 yards in 1:06. Second Quarter Possession 4: Started at the NT 26 at 14:10 and ended at the NT 39 at 12:45. 13 yards in 1:25. Vizza QB'd the second three possession...and here they are: Second Quarter Possession 1: Started at the NT 41 at 9:24 and ended at the Arkansas 21 at 8:34. 38 yards in 50 seconds. Did I mention this drive actually ended with a field goal attempt? (And for those playing at home...38 is larger than the grand sum of the first four drives, 24) Possession 2: Started at the NT 12 at 7:06 and ended at the NT 13 at 5:54. 1 yard in 1:12. Possession 3: Started at the NT 20 at 4:42 and ended in the Arkansas endzone at 1:24. 80 yards (and a TD) in 3:18. So, in 4 possessions DM quarterbacked the team to a grand total of 24 yards and zero points. Vizza, in three possessions, quarterbacked the team to 119 yards and 7 points with a missed field goal. Now, let me line up the lame excuses for you mapoligists. "Danny faced the first team defense!" Yeah, cuz Arkansas pulled their starters after four possesions, right? "Vizza threw a pick for a TD!" Yep. It was returned 100 yards because our offense was actually NEAR THE GOAL LINE. Oh yeah, and DM threw a pick during the game as well. "Vizza is almost twice as likely to throw a pick" I love this one the most. I can only assume, MeanMag, that you are referring to Vizza's 3 picks in the OU an Ark games versus Danny's 2. To be honest 3 is actually 1.5 times 2. If 1.5 is "almost twice" in your math then fine. Now, take the 2 touchdowns Vizza has accounted for (you know, cuz he passed for one of them and ran for the other). In anyone's math 2 is "literally infinitely larger" than 0. "Todge doesn't want to send Vizza out there to make freshman mistakes." I'll defer to what Bill Parcells had to say when he talked about Tony Romo and Drew Bledsoe..."If I'm gonna get rookie mistakes it might as well be from my rookie." "Vizza didn't all of those yards by himself, the running game helped." You're right, we didn't have a single running back on the field when Danny was in. Todd Dodge, in his attempts to skew the numbers, kept calling 'QB happy feet sack on 3'.
  16. Here's what I just plain don't get with some of you people. Rather than look at the possibility of solving one of our problems...albeit the "smaller" one on everyone's radar...you would rather summarily discount it because it isn't the biggest issue in your eyes. Please tell me how, if we have a laundry list of things to improve, improving the QB position makes it any harder or in any detracts from the ability to fix the other problems. Will putting the better QB out there make the defense better? No. Will it make it impossible to make the defense better? No. Bottom line is, it's possible to have it both ways...why can't we fix the defense (the big problem) AND fix the QB position? I'll wait.........................
  17. I see one too. I'm consistently right...and couldn't be more right this time.
  18. Southern Miss now within a 2pt conversion of tying it up. 22 points in less than 10 minutes. Just got the 2pt try picked off.
  19. Losing right now 31-15 against Rice. All season long Rice has been one of those teams I really, really wanted to play because I thought we could eke out a win...even with our defense. This is the same Rice team that was winless coming into this game and lost 16-14 to Nichols State to start the season.
  20. You see, this is why I love you FakeAss Lonnie Finch. Regardless of the truth, even when it's pointed out to you in the same thread, you continue with whatever makes your point seem valid. Meager played the first four possessions against the first team defense. Vizza played the next four possessions against THE FIRST TEAM DEFENSE. Meager moved the ball nowhere in particular...Vizza moved the ball forward. Against OU and Arkansas Vizza is responsible for 14 points for the opposition because of interceptions returned for touchdowns. Wow, that would be a scary stat were he not also responsible for 17 NT points...and it should be 20 if Moreland hits a chip shot field goal. I know that this statistic isn't relevant to you in your crusade for ignorance since Meager has produced a grand total of zero points against these two teams. Not to worry, you can always fall back on a stellar performance against an SMU secondary that is perhaps worse than ours. You know, that same SMU team that boasts wins against....uhhhhhh nobody....except us. And here's another nugget to chew on. Vizza's most recent interception was returned 100 yards for a touchdown. Why is this relevant? Oh I don't know, probably because you have to CLOSE to the other team's endzone for this to happen. So I guess in a way you are right. We should be content with a quarterback who can protect the ball while going three and out....wait, nevermind, he can only do this is the game isn't in the balance. Otherwise he throws into double and triple coverage. Now mapologize for wasting our time. I will accept your mapology and give you a "Vizza Cult" t-shirt to wear proudly. Or, if you want, Lera just might have a thong in your size.
  21. You mean you're not so enamored with 601 passing yards that you're willing to throw it out as your crutch every time someone questions the competence of a QB that has never proven anything? How dare you!
  22. Are we ABSOLUTELY sure there isn't something stronger than the "ignore poster" option? Real Lonnie Finch where are you? And can you please, pretty please, keep your kid brother away from the keyboard?
