  1. Waffle House and morning beers. Looking forward to the game!
  2. 16 years ago, we played Navy and loss with a whopping score of 74 to 62. As sad as that score was, I think we might see something similar this week. Navy 56 UNT 45
  3. I think we will see a different defense this week. The triple option will force more guys in the box. If we decide to not tackle, it's going to be a long game. Right now, we run a mix of 3 and 4 man fronts. The triple option will force the defense to hold their gaps and key on certain players. The DTs/LBs will need to wrap up the FB every play. The DEs and OLBs will need to be responsible for the pitchman. Our Safety will need to come down and hit the RBs as soon as they receive the pitch. Here is a good article about defending the triple option. https://www.bloggersodear.com/2017/10/20/16508088/georgia-tech-wake-forest-paul-johnson-spread-offense-understanding-and-defending-the-triple-option
  4. Our offense will keep us in games. Our defense will make games closer than they need to be. I like how direct and down to earth he is. The DFW recruiting approach is nice as well. If we can continue to add guys from the area, this should set us up for success. Things I don't like, the 3-3-5 defense, and the lack of additions from the transfer portal. We better hit the portal hard this off season. I want more players rotating on the front 6/7.
  5. It was nice to see our Mean Green win at home. Yes, it was against an FCS opponent. Yes, the defense gave up a lot of points. However, some of us are still scarred from the Portland State loss in 2015. So with that being said, at least the team did what they were supposed to against Abilene Christian WIN. It seems we were able to get more pressure on the QB this week. We had 6 QB hurries, 2 sacks, 5 pass breakups, and 1 INT. We gave up 387 yards this week, which is a big improvement from the first 2 weeks (679 vs Cal and 514 vs FIU). On offense, we had 40 rushes for 209 yards and 36 (23 completions) passes for 321 yards. We produced a total of 530 yards. Chandler continues to be turnover free throwing the ball. We had 1 fumble on offense, but luckily it went out of bounds. The team had 6 penalties for 65 yards tonight. This is better than the 9 we had last week against La Tech. One interesting thing to note is we stayed pretty balanced on offense. 36 pass plays versus 40 run plays (47% vs 53%), the same percentages as the week before. One last thing to note before jumping into the individual observations, we had a decent crowd for parents weekend. The announced attendance was 21,494. Observations: Chandler Rogers continued to be efficient and made numerous plays last night. He had a great command of the offense and did a fantastic job throwing the ball. He completed around 64% of his passes (23-36) for 321 yards and 3 TDs. Additionally, he ran for 29 yards and 1 TD. I am impressed with his poise in the pocket and ability to make plays with his legs when needed. It's also great that he doesn't turn the ball over. I love competent QB play. Ja'Mori Maclin (80 yard TD) and Damon Ward (18 and 17 yard TDs) caught the 3 touchdown passes. Freshman Landon Sides had a big night as well. He got his first start and made the most of it with 5 catches for 61 yards Ayo Adeyi had another great game. He had several big runs for us last night. He ended up rushing for 110 yards. Isaiah Johnson had a good game this week, as he rushed for 39 yards and 2 TDs. Nick Nakwaasah was our leading tackler with 6 total (3 solo). He had a big hit in the 2nd half that the social media team tweeted out. There was one PI against him that if he just turned his head around, he probably would have made the INT. Regardless, I am glad to see him healthy and playing. Jordan Brown and Kevin Wood each had 5 tackles tonight. Bryce Linder also had 5 tackles. Shoutout to Mazin "Amazing" Richards who had 2 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, and 2 QBH. Freshman Evan Jackson recorded his first INT tonight. It's great to see these young kids make plays. It's also worth noting that freshman Jayven Anderson, Taylor Starling, and Brian Nelson II played some tonight. It will be interesting to see if they keep playing or take a redshirt. Next week will be an interesting test for the defense. I expect to see our DL and LBs make a lot of plays against Navy. Let's hope they are up for the challenge of stopping the Navy triple option attack. I enjoy writing these summaries more after victories. GMG!
  6. It looks like Gumms is getting some playing time against the College Station Cult today. He just caught his first pass of the season.
  7. If you ever own a house in Texas, you are taxed. We have ridiculous property taxes here, but that's a conversation for another day. Part of those taxes go to the local school district. Prosper has had an influx of wealthy people. Therefore, the tax base has grown. If there are not enough funds to build a stadium, the community would vote to issue a Municipal Bond to fund the stadium. It's funny that you mention academics when you forgot to end your sentence with a period.
  8. UNT 52 ACU 21 I think there will be a lot of offense in this one.
  9. Baylor, Oklahoma St, Houston, and Texas A&M could all be open in a few months.
  10. Aw yes, our first opponent from the West Coast rappers division 2 PAC.
  11. I am fine with this addition. He has the frame to add more weight. It is a little concerning he doesn't have other offers, however are we expecting him to play right away? No, look at the current depth chart. Our interior OL will be Srs by the time he steps on campus. Current Depth: LG- both Jr's C- Jr and Sr RG- So and Jr We should hope he continues to develop and get ready to block FBS DL.
  12. I'm not necessarily saying that, but it is an interesting case study. Blue Blood P5 schools are taking players from the lower tier P5 schools. Lower tier P5 schools are taking top G5 players. G5 schools are taking players from lower level G5 schools (in our case ULM and Arkansas St). Lower tier P5s and G5s are taking players from FCS and D2 programs. As a result, high school and JUCO kids are not being recruited as much. I'm interested to see what transpires in the next few seasons. If this model stays or if the NCAA adds more regulation.
  13. Incarnate Word, he's in the rotation at RB.
  14. His older brother is at Arkansas. I wouldn't be shocked if that's where he ends up.
  15. Roberts has been averaging 3 catches for 20 yards the last 2 games. Baylor is terrible this year and might not win another game.
  16. He has 1 tackle for loss at the moment according to ESPN.
  17. I saw that as well. I’m glad he’s getting playing time. Auburn D isn’t doing too bad so far.
  18. Sorry, my coffee hadn't kicked in when I read this lol.
