  1. I went ahead and sent his hudl link to our DL and DC. Maybe they will take a look for us.
  2. There could be a number of things that are influencing his lack of offers such as him being a late bloomer, grades, attitude, etc. Sometimes, coaches will not vouch for their players as well. This happened to a guy I played with. He ended up having to play D3 ball instead of D1, even though he was the best athlete on the field. A coaching change mid year screwed his offers (before the age of Twitter). I don't know the young man, but he has the size to play. Honestly, he reminds me of that DL from Flower Mound that came here last spring. I don't believe he made the fall roster. Maybe he's a PWO candidate similar to the kid from Flower Mound.
  3. He was committed to us for a short amount of time. However, he ultimately decided to go to UCONN. It looks like he had 2 receptions for 21 yards this year. I hope he enjoyed his time on the 3-9 independent UCONN Huskies. I hear Connecticut is a nice place to visit on your way from New York to Boston this time of the year.
  4. Update number 2, never played in a game. When he transferred to Duke, I wonder if he thought that he was transferring for a free education and zero playing time. I would take a free Duke MBA, but that has to be disappointing for him to pass on UNT at the last minute to never stepping on the field at Duke.
  5. Oh yes, the QB who is deciding between the NFL Draft and 7 figure NIL deals. We should call and offer him a lifetime deal to NY SubHub. Sorry, I am not trying to be an ass. We just don't have a shot.
  6. Commit number 2: Before someone starts complaining that he played QB in high school. Take a look at the amount of yards he's rushed for, 1,919 and 30 TDs.
  7. Damn, I hate to hear that. The staff must have a QB secretly committed and doesn't want to show their cards. Regardless, we need to get a transfer QB committed ASAP.
  8. We had the last ranked defense in the country last year. If you’re bitching that we are trying to improve it, I think it says more about yourself than said player.
  9. Yeah, I had friends on the team and I was finishing up my degree in 2009. We could go down this rabbit hole all day if you wanted. Seth was a .500 coach, 0-2 in conference championships, and 0-5 in bowl games. He also won 5 games his first year at North Texas. Right now is the time for this staff to impress the fan base. They are rebuilding the roster. If we fail next year, it is on them. The roster will have their finger prints on it. Changes are coming as a result of their actions. I certainly hope they're good changes.
  10. He's on the road recruiting top HS prospects and hosting visitors this weekend. Early signing day is December 20th. We have a ton of transfer portal kids visiting as well. It's going to be an exciting few weeks.
  11. What a strange off-season it has been. After a 5-7 record with multiple close losses, our morale appears to have hit rock bottom. Last year around this time, we had just fired Seth Littrell. Our biggest complaint with Seth was that his teams were uncompetitive in the big games. While we had a couple of 9 win seasons, his teams struggled in the bowl games, and conference championships. Now, we are under the guidance of Eric Morris. Similar to Seth, he is an offensive guru. Eric tried to implement a 3-3-5 defense with a guy that never coordinated a defense, a roster made up of walk ons, JUCO players, transfers, and a couple of guys that were back ups on the Phil Bennett defenses. While our defense was a disaster last year (ranked dead last), we were more competitive in big games. Yes, we all know there were a couple of bad losses (FIU, Navy, and Memphis). Here is the silver lining, we have a full off-season to revamp this roster. One of our biggest complaints with Eric Morris was his handling of the transfer portal. He decided that we not going to be as aggressive in it since we had Seth's guys on the roster. It was a bold strategy, and as a result we probably lost more games than we should have. Am I happy that we lost our best QB, RB, WR, G, and C on offense? Absolutely not. Am I happy that we had the worst defense in the country last year? Absolutely not. Am I happy that we are going to finally test the portal and revamp this roster? Hell yeah! It is looking like we are going to have around 40 spots open this year. That's almost half of the roster. One problem Morris and Co had last year was the buy in with the players. Well guess what, most of the guys that are leaving are former players that Seth recruited here. I know Chandler, Miner, and Cleveland are the exceptions, but the rest are holdovers from the old staff. Morris is rebuilding the roster and establishing a new culture. I know we have been very down on the program over the years, but this could be the one time we are starting with a clean slate to rebuild it. The majority of the staff have great connections throughout the state. I know some of the guys visiting this week have ties to the staff from other stops, and a lot are local kids. Before we just crap on the staff, let's give them time these next few months to rebuild the roster. It is encouraging to see them hitting the road going after new players. I have been impressed by the number of new transfer offers floating around on Twitter. Final thoughts, people are going to complain to regardless of what happens. Give the staff some time this off-season to find new players. Let's see what they do before we have a public freak out session. I am not thrilled to lose some of the guys on offense, but I can't wait to see what this roster looks like next year. My sentiment could be a lot different next year in December, but we can all agree the next few months are going to be interesting. R-E-L-A-X there is a lot of time left before next season gets here. #GMG
  12. Maybe we can ask some of our local failed high school coaches how they handled adversity. I know some of them post on this board anytime there is a problem. Do we have any on this thread that can provide solutions for when the big 6A and 5A schools take their players?
  13. How did fall of 2023 go for us? 1. Lost to FIU 2. Lost to Navy 3. Lost to the top 4 schools in the conference in competitive games. 4. Lost starting QB, RB, WR, G, and C to the transfer portal. I need something positive to happen in 2024.
  14. https://apnews.com/article/deion-sanders-colorado-recruiting-55240a9daa98af60b93d9fe3c65c6a9c I read about him last week. Spent the spring at Colorado. Deion showed him the door. He's currently the starting LT at number 2 Iowa Western.
  15. Dummies can talk football does it again.
  16. If I recall, he was injured most of the year.
  17. Played in 2 games. I remember him being in on one of the last drives against Tulsa. Not sure about the other game.
  18. He seems to do a little bit of everything. Fast, versatile athlete that catches the ball well out of the backfield. I know that is the type of RB that the air raid offense uses historically. He graduates this month so hopefully we can sign him early.
  19. I really liked his film. We need players that fly to the ball like this.
  20. Stats for 9 games: 37 carries 410 yards 8 TDs 36 Tackles (29 solo) 10 TFL 2 sacks 3 FF I can't find his highlight film for the season, but he played in one of the toughest districts in the state. To do this against that type of competition is impressive. I really like the offer list as well. Great job by the staff! Welcome Zhaiylen!
  21. It does suck for the young man, and I hope he bounces back on his feet. However, we need LBs that are going to be able to play right away. Did you guys like being rated last in total defense last year?
  22. He was a Safety for us. Yes, still on the 2023 roster.
  23. At the moment we have 30 plus open spots. That's kind of exciting. We have these guys on the staff with strong connections to the area. Let's see how it shakes out. Best of luck to the guys leaving, we can find replacements in the portal and juco ranks. Notice a pattern with the guys leaving? Ayo Adeyi (Transfered here from a D3 school) Isaiah Johnson (Littrell signed him out of HS) Logan Wilson ( 3rd time to transfer. He played at Kansas State and ULM before here.) Stone Earle ( Transfer from ACU) Ja'Mori Maclin (Transfer from Missouri) Ethan Miner (Transfer from Arkansas State)
