  1. This may be a little too tinfoil for even me but I'm just putting it out there. I'm not sayin' I'm just sayin'. Timeline: October 2010: Iowa City senior qb is 6 games into his senior season, first as quarterback, and is looking for offers. Iowa City qb said his ultimate goal is to earn a scholarship to play quarterback for a Division I school. But he also wants to keep his options open. “For sure a Division I quarterback,” he said. “But I’d also be willing to make the move if that was the situation. But my goal right now is to be a Division I quarterback.” Late October 2010: Todd Dodge fired by UNT. Iowa City qb still has no offers. Late November 2010: Dan McCarney hired as new NT head coach. Iowa City qb still with no offers. January 2011: Iowa City qb gets first and only offer. February 2011: Iowa City qb signs with NT September 2011: True Freshman qb scores first TD in NT's much anticipated new Apogee Stadium just a few weeks after entering the program. Apparently a true freshman can come in and play qb right away but a junior juco transfer 4 star elite 11 quarterback can't. October 2011: True freshman qb with 2 months in the program gets the start for injured starter Derek Thompson over juco transfer. Throws 2 pick 6s. October 2011: Thompson injured again, true freshman again comes in over juco. 2012: Injured 2013: Backup to redshirt senior during bowl season. October 2014: Redshirt junior takes over as starter for final 6 games of the season. Averages 180 yds passing per game leading team to a 2-4 record against teams that would have a combined record of 13-23 over their final six games. September 2015: Redshirt senior qb named starter for game one. Ends up with the worst quarterback rating in all of college football. Coach gives him a vote of confidence and says he will continue to be the starter.
  2. The difference between a Class 5A(top division at the time) Honorable Mention Texas All State quarterback and our Class 4A(top division in Iowa) 2nd 1st team(Iowa has 2 quarterbacks on their first team) Iowa All State 5th year senior quarterback. Dual-threat? What's a dual-threat?
  3. We'd be down 14-6 at the half, #10 comes in and we end up losing 28-20. Much better than losing 45-6 though.
  4. Our defense was great against Texas last year too. We held David Ash led UT to 353 yards despite gaining only 94 ourselves. We held them to 4-15 on 3rd downs. We forced 2 turnovers, one for a TD. Our defense was good early last year but our putrid offense eventually breaks their spirit and they get overrun. I don't blame them.
  5. ‌@wardly, I 100% agree. Plus, RV catches a lot of heat because of the Dodge hire but Dodge played a large role in getting Apogee built so it wasn't a total bust. He was a WAY better elbow rubber than Dickey could ever hope to be.
  6. NT-6 Rice-45 Unless there is a qb change to #10 prior to gametime. With #10 behind center NT 31 Rice 14
  7. I like Dave, he is a great play-by-play man and sounds great. I do really miss George's homerism though.
  8. Can you imagine being in D. Smith's shoes? A former Elite 11 quarterback, going from a good stint at juco to literally the worst quarterback situation in all of FBS football and despite any effort he puts forward, he cannot unseat the worst(by quarterback rating) quarterback in all of FBS football. That has to be depressing and his eligibility is running out fast. I feel for the guy, where else can he go? D2? FCS? I just hope he can go play somewhere, anywhere, to show off his talent before his eligibility is spent.
  9. My point is, other than a lifelong personal relationship, what qualifies him to be the failure that goes in and takes the snaps over the other failures?
  10. You are absolutely right. I forgot a bullet point. Not related to anyone on the current staff or their college teammates.
  11. This may be the post of yours I agree with most since you've been here, except it seems the staff does want to put a quarterback that lacks composure out there.
  12. Why would you not consider #5 just as much of a failure as the others, being an experienced redshirt senior and all. Dajon was a redshirt freshman last year when he was written off for mistakes, Means is a redshirt freshman this year, Berglund wanted to use his athletic ability(HC wants no part of that), and Greer was a redshirt sophomore when he was written off. #5 is a 5th year senior that has been a quarterback in this program under the same HC, OC, and QB coach his entire career. 4 FULL STINKING YEARS he has been coached by this staff!! He is still getting chances that players with much less experience never got. Greer was in the program less than a year when he was put up against Charlie Strong's defense and got the deer in the headlights look. Williams was only in the program one year before he was thrown on the scrap heap after making freshman mistakes. Why is it that when #5 makes freshman mistakes or gets the deer in the headlights look as a RS SENIOR, he gets a pass??
  13. Josh Greer completed 75% of his passes and threw no interceptions against SMU last year in his second game. He ended up with a quarterback rating of 135.2 for the game.
  14. At least he got to mention his national championship at Florida.
  15. He keeps harping on trying to get to 17-7 in Apogee stadium, why doesn't he say we're trying to get to 6-21 on the road. I guess 5-22 is just as good in his eyes. Road games don't matter to the man.
  16. Lot of receivers diving for balls, that really hurts the YAC.
  17. Based on that video, it seems that #5's(on offense) jersey must be coated in Teflon. Nice. I just wish it was as effective at repelling defenses as it is at repelling criticism. What? Our quarterback completed less than half of his passes and some of the ones he did complete were little dump passes or diving catches? Well, everyone else on the offense stinks so that's why he didn't play well. There is no blame with this qb. It is nice tat Mac gave the guys a script to read from to avoid criticizing his golden child.
  18. 8 passes 0-10yds, 7 passes 10-20yds, 0 passes 20+yds. These include YAC so we don't know how far the ball was in the air. We would have to rewatch the game for that.
  19. Hopefully one without any friends or family that have subpar quarterbacks as sons.
