  1. Happy Birthday DT. Miss having you behind center. You were underappreciated during your time here, even by me. I didn't see how good you were until you were gone and I realized what we were left with.
  2. If you want to get 9/11 truther level tinfoil you could say that RV already had a deal in place to hire Mac prior to the '10 season so he could open the new stadium and Mac said he wanted to play at Iowa if he were to come. Get more birther/truther/tower 7 than that.
  3. Sounds awfully Todd Dodge-like in this thread. Do we want to chance re-living that?
  4. You really think it is that unlikely?
  5. And if he didn't? Where would we come up with multimillion dollar buyout money?
  6. I respectfully disagree. He hasn't impressed me with anything he has done since he left Tech and he was kind of an a-hole even when he was at Tech. I was in the pro-Leach camp for awhile because I hated Craig James and his bs but after talking to Tech alumni, I've been enlightened to how he wasn't as well liked as us outsiders would like to believe.
  7. Yea, what would he know, he's only produced J.W. Walsh(who was Elite 11 with Damarcus Smith) the #4 ranked dual-thread qb in 2011, Jerrod Heard the #4 ranked dual-threat qb in 2014, and #2 ranked dual-threat qb for the class of 2017. D. Smith was the #11 ranked dual-threat qb in 2011 for comparison.
  8. Realistically, if Chico was replaced, it would be with Quartaro. He is not only our assistant head coach and tight ends coach, but also an Iowa Hawkeye letterman.
  9. I thought it was Dillman's HS coach that decided he wasn't a FBS quarterback. He has more quarterback skins on the wall than our coaches so I'm glad they are taking his advice.
  10. Dajon was a month past his 20th birthday when he was benched after being in the program for just over a year and starting only 3 games(2 against legit competition). Smith is quite a bit older and seen more college level competition. Although he didn't exactly light up the field when he was at WKU. I will always believe that DMac didn't have the patience to mold DW into what he could've been. Freshman qbs will make freshman mistakes and it is the coach's job to help get those corrected, not simply give up on the kid.
  11. It amazes me that UT can adjust their offense mid-season to fit a qb that provides a spark but we can't.
  12. I found a copy of our offensive playbook laying around. Doesn't look too complicated.
  13. Why not just run the first "however many" pages of the playbook that the one guy knows? The team doesn't have to learn a new playbook but if the new guy knows at least some of the plays in the playbook, why not run those plays?
  14. I watched my first NT game on 10-2-1999 at Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium. I was a freshman at NT, my gf's dad lived in Waco, and one of my HS teammates was a true freshman playing for Baylor. I only really went because it was near her dad's house and I wanted to see how my hs teammate did. It was Baylor's only win that year. We had beaten Tech in Lubbock a week or two before and I thought that was kinda cool but couldn't point you to where Fouts Field was during that stint in my NT life. I knew Broderick McGrew was our best player but that was about it. I didn't even know Dickey was the coach or what conference we were in. My fanaticism began when I returned to NT in the fall of '05 after 4 years away doing some maturing. We got our butts kicked by Tulsa 54-2 at Fouts but I was hooked. I watched a couple games on TV between the Baylor and Tulsa games, (James Mitchell special and the Danny Meager v MUTS win) but nothing compares to cheering your team on in person.
  15. Hmm? The old ball coach likes a quarterback with wheels?
  16. 3 games in and another qb change at a P5 school
  17. I like your 31 for them but I'm only giving 6 to the good guys. 31-6 hometown kids win Separate prediction: #5 (Iowa's favorite son) comes home to throw a touchdown to the Hawkeyes, as it has been a lilfelong dream of his.
  18. Calm down now, after his career game against Rice, he has rocketed up the quarterback rating ranks from dead last to 110th out of 120. Not too shabby, eh?
