  1. ‌@MeanGreenD and ‌@oldguystudent, @Cerebus is correct, those folks were 30 years older than when they were the actual homecoming court. ‌
  2. So if Smith throws some pick 6s and fumbles a couple as a 22 or 23 yr old redshirt junior in addition to his INT in the endzone, he will have shown his worth as well and we can put this conversation to bed? He should get no more than "2 shots to work with the 1's in preparation and start" before he is benched if he does not excel or makes costly mistakes.
  3. I just don't see where this ceiling comes from. HS rating is irrelevant now since he and Mine finished HS the same year. He hasn't impressed me in his limited snaps at WKU or here. DT looks faster on film and had (in my mind) a just as good or better arm than Smith. Dajon had 3 series in the LaTech game last year. He impressed us with his speed, ability to run the read-option, and his passing. In his limited series, he showed (at least to that point) that he was far and away better than what we had trotted out prior to him (mostly Greer with some McNulty). That is how he got the starting job as a redshirt freshman. Smith has stats for at least 4 series and I didn't see nearly as much from him as I saw from Dajon last year. Smith didn't do enough in his limited reps, Dajon did.
  4. Anyways, back to the original topic, there were some really neat photos on that website. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks ‌@Coach Andy Mac!
  5. Times are changing. I have no problem if the homecoming queen doesn't want to wear a dress. She has school spirit which is more than you can say about many of the students there when I attended. I'd have voted for her just based on this video.
  6. I'm proud to have folks like the Featherstons supporting our program.
  7. We don't know if any of our coaches came to RV or he went out and found them. Did he post the job and see who applied or did he act as a headhunter and go find the guy he wanted? I sure don't know and most here probably don't know either.
  8. I think Cosh needs to get canned as well. How could we have gotten so bad on defense so fast?
  9. Dodge was very good with the fans and like it or not, he played a rather large role in getting that beautiful stadium built that he never got to coach in. Would Bill Clark be worth a look? He has got to be sick of the UAB mess by now.
  10. I remember it well. It was my first game at Fouts.
  11. Karen Aston was a solid hire. She took a program that went 5-25 and brought them to 15-16 in one season. That is impressive whether you hate RV or not. She likely would've had a winning season every year thereafter, if she had stayed. She was hired away by a VERY wealthy university and led them to the sweet 16 and 24 wins last year. Aston should not be lumped in with RV's failures because she was the best hire he has made outside of Johnny Jones.
  12. I miss me some tomato. Mangia here in Austin just doesn't meet the standard although it is the closest I've found since the Tomato burned down..
  13. Any college football player who tells his coach he wants to ride the bench because someone else is better than him should have his scholarship revoked and be kicked off the team.
  14. And she has done well at UT after being hired away. If a wealthier program poaches one of our coaches, I consider that a solid hire.
  15. He did get Johnny Jones and Karen Aston right. He just keeps whiffing on football. And MBB lately.
  16. I find it sad that we have alumni campaigning to be on the list.
  17. Arkansas did this when we played them in '07. They wanted Houston Nutt gone. They had 3 NFL running backs on that team plus a dick playing quarterback and he was still hated.
  18. A valid point on JUCO. Now another hypothetical. Let's say that Smith is able to impress us in garbage time of games we're losing like Dajon did last year(He hasn't done anything close to what Dajon did in his relief snaps last year). Then, he comes in and performs equally to Dajon's performance last year. He has one good game and then 2 turnover-filled bad games. Do we then sit him for good? He is a redshirt junior and not a redshirt freshman like Dajon was. We only have a limited time frame to develop him into a legit FBS qb.
  19. But here is a wild question. Let's just say hypothetically that Smith was overrated out of high school and really isn't that good. How long to we just stick it out with him before we give up and say "you know what, maybe this guy just isn't that good." ?
  20. This guy agrees. Honestly, I think Mac threw him out there knowing he would fail so we would all shut up about him.
  21. To be fair, he did pull both McNulty and Greer after their pick 6s at Iowa.
  22. Did YOU watch the game? Some of Smith's passes were so bad that the commentators couldn't even determine which receiver he was throwing to.
  23. I'll give you Ivery, Wilson, and Garner, but Fernandes was a walk-on.
  24. I'm torn between that Rice game and the 7 OTs it took us to beat a FIU team that would go winless that year. We put up a whopping 269 yards of total offense in a 7 overtime game. That may have been the worst things I've had to endure with my own eyes.
