We all were wondering where Jamario's "extra" gear went from his freshman year and we finally saw it on that run. Man seeing that brought back some great memories of some absolutely explosive runs he had his freshman year. You just don't get to see that a lot and when a player like Jamario comes along you really appreciate it! GMG!

I understand where you are coming from. If that is the case then Vizza should have been brought into the game. The turnovers were big but our offense did NOTHING in the second half. We would have lost either way.

Let me preface this by saying my expectations for this season were very low. BUT... This was a winnable game tonight. FAU didn't have better talent. They have better coaches. They made adjustments at half time to slow our offense down and we did nothing to change our game plan. Is it possible to pump fake a few short passes to keep their DB's jumping our routes?! Meager - He can't throw the deep ball and it is killing us. It's time to start the Vizza era. Please don't post the SMU stats for me either. SMU has one of the WORST defenses in the nation. Attendance - Great turnout by students and alumni alike. I thought it was close to 20,000. A lot of new faces on the alumni side. I wonder if they will be back. The second half performance didn't win anyone over. KUDOS TO THE DEFENSE - Best game of the year by far. The offense killed them in the second half as they just were wore down by being on the field most of the half. Good to see Jamario back! I would like to see more of him. Minnesota must be REALLY bad. This was a tough loss as this game was there for the taking. GMG!

23 is the number of charter members of Talons as you know it today. Talons History " the summer of 1959, a group of seven men led by Jack Wheeler set up an honorary service and spirit organization. After approval from Dean Woods and Dr. J.C. Matthews, President of NTSC, they met in the Hinkle home that housed the former Theta Chi fraternity. Many hours were spent on deciding a name for the organization. "The Green Eagles," "Eagle Supporters," "Eagle Beaks," "Eagle Claws," and many more were proposed, but none of them seemed right. Dean Woods brought up the fact that several years ago, there was an organization called Talons. The name was perfect, but much concern was raised about using the name of the former service fraternity. The organization was in no way meant to emulate or borrow from the previous organization. Since there was no active alumni organization of the former Talons and the fraternity understood the distinction between the two, consent was given and a name was established. An important element of the newly created Talons was its membership. The organization was to make up of the best of the best by being an honorary group. A committee, made up of representatives from the faculty, staff, and student body, was formed to select members of the organization. To be diverse and equal, no more than 50% of members were Greek. With that, the committee selected from list of some 30, the 23 charter members of the new Talons organization. The purpose of this Talon group was only for the benefit of the college. Its members were challenged to constantly work to instill a deeper feeling of school spirit into the NTSC campus. These men began the Talons tradition of selecting its members from the men who fill the ranks of the student government leaders and officers of professional social and honorary organizations."

Schedules are made several years in advance. The teams you mentioned could be in the top 5 in the next 5 years. When you play the money games those are the chances you take. I am not a fan of the games either but they pay the bills.

Wake up people...... If you have watched the first two games then it should be clear that this might be one of the worst defenses we have EVER had. We are SLOW!!! Probably the slowest I have ever seen and our secondary is awful. We just don't have that much talent on that side of the ball and I hope the next couple of recruiting classes focus on defense as it appears the offense is already being addressed. If it wasn't for Holman covering the whole field against SMU it would have been even worse! If you think it is going to get better once Sun Belt play begins, you are in for a shock. ASU, MTSU and Troy have a lot of SPEED and all three games could get out of hand (See MTSU game last year). Florida Atlantic is no slouch either...whom we have never beaten. The only thing that is different from last year is our offense. The only way we have a chance to win this year is to win in a shootout. This is going to be a LONG year....or two and then things should get better. My dream is to have the offense starting with the 2010 season and the defense from 2001-2003 in the same year. THEN we will have arrived!!!!! GMG! BEAT BYE!!!!

Also, I'm not terribly pleased with scheduling @ LSU 2 years in a row.

Mad Hatter - All good points and I feel the same way as I posted some of these before the game. I know it sounds crazy but I feel ok after replaying the game again. This team has a different swagger about it than teams in the past. Every time someone took a big lick or had a bad play they bounced right back up and were ready for the next play. That hasn't always been the case in the DD regime. This team needs EVERYONE at the SMU game next week. There is no excuse for us not to have a good portion of Ford Stadium in green. This is a closer drive than Denton for a lot of us. We will get better as the season goes on. Let's forget about OU and bring on SMU! GMG!

WOW I can't think of a bigger upset. If you haven't seen the highlights it is a must see. I am sure this will be an instant classic on ESPNCL. It will be tough to beat as the most exciting game of the year. WOW.........I dream of UNT doing this every year. GMG! Beat the Sooners!

Glad to hear about the hour long pre-game show. That has been needed for some time. Now can we PLEASE add a call in post game show?!

Of course we are going to go there to win the game...that is what I like about Dodge as opposed to DD. This thread is about the point spread not about loyalty...if you bet with your heart and not your head then you will be making bookies very happy. I bleed green just like everyone else here and I hope we beat OU by 100 but the REALITY is the point spread is high for a reason. If we were playing OU at the end of the year....it would still be high but probably not as high. This journey with coach Dodge is going to be bumpy at best this first year.....please give it some time if we take a beating or two along the way. Every year this board is full of optimisim at the beginning of the season when a lot of it should be tempered. Two years from now is when I will expect to be winning on a consistent level....for ALL OF OUR GAMES. GMG! Beat the Sooners!

Um....we are the first game for OU after being stunned by little ole Boise State which was a heavy underdog. I think it's safe to say that OU is going to look to score early and often to make a statement. As for Miami the next week, I don't think the Sooners are too worried.....the Canes are nowhere close to what they used to be. New coach with a new scheme for one of the worst offenses in the country last year against one of the top defenses in the country? We all know what happens to a good defense with an anemic offense.......they become completely worthless in the second half after being on the field most of the game. I am excited as can be for the future of this program but this season is going to be brutal, especially our non conference schedule. If we win one OOC game I will be pleased.

9-22-1990 College Station Texas A&M 40 UNT 8 We hade a nice crowd but after we drove down the field and missed a field goal the only other highlights was Eric Pegram juking a few of the "Wreckin Crew" out of their jocks and one of our DB's knocking out Darren Lewis.

I was there.....yes the rain came down down quite a bit. Our defense was excellent. For those of you going this year be prepared to watch the video screen to actually have a good view as you will be tucked in the corner of the back of the endzone. Also you might not be able to hear the band as they were seated at the the very TOP of the section behind the endzone!!

I think everyone needs to slow down about about Vizza and Riley and all of the other early commits until February when the ink is dry on their paperwork. By then we could lose both or one of the QB's. It is great to get early committments but in the cut throat world of recruiting anything can happen in the next 8 months. GMG!

There is no excuse to not have at least 10,000 fans at the SMU game. This game should be HIGHLY marketed to the students and alumni. It should be treated like a home game as it is just down the highway. I would love to make FORD stadium become known as "Fouts South" just like Jones Stadium in Lubbock was known as "Fouts West" in the 90's! GMG!

I don't see what the big deal is...it's just the practice field. I was just as frustrated with Dickey the last few years as everyone else but he will be inducted into the UNT Sports Hall of Fame....here is his record against all other UNT coaches: ALL TIME UNT FOOTBALL COACHING RECORDS After looking at these records I still wonder why Odus Mitchell doesn't get more recognition. I THINK THE MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION IS WHEN IS THE ATHLETIC FACILITY PARKING LOT GOING TO BE NAMED AFTER MATT SIMON?!

I never understood why so many people were excited about him from the beginning. He is out of his league at this level. He takes up space and uses up fouls and that is it. I too am nervous everytime he enters the game.
