  1. Is the Allen location the only place in Dallas for an official watching party location?
  2. This might have been the loudest Fouts Field ever was: 1990 victory vs SMU - Fight broke out right in front of our Talons section at halftime. That entire game was deafening. https://youtu.be/yovaV67Zuyw
  3. Thanks Harry. All is well. Keep up the good work! GMG!
  4. This ranking system seems pretty fair year in and year out. We dropped several spots due to UTEP ranking. Beat Army and we will go back up and then Rice will bring us back down. Iowa and SMU losing today hurt us as well. Beat FAU and we will shoot up again along with a bowl win!! I have followed these rankings for years and to see us ranked in the 40's last week and now 50 is surreal. 6. Just wanted to say you guys do a great job. Keep up the good work.
  7. You guys always do a great job. I always look forward to watching no matter how the team is doing. Keep up the good work. Go Mean Green!
  8. Theres no official designation. Yet. But the Dallas area can make a strong claim to be the college football capital of the nation, on the field and financially. North Texas hosts three bowl games, more than any other region, as well as big-time regular-season games featuring national powers. Alabama played Michigan here in 2012. Notre Dame played Arizona State here this past season. The region has three major college football teams of its own. One of them TCU won the Rose Bowl game in 2011. After next season, AT&T Stadium will host the first tournament national championship game for the biggest football powers. And dont forget the Division 1 Football Championship game in Frisco. North Dakota State plays Towson on Saturday. D-FW certainly can make the claim to be the college football king, said Tom Starr, a consultant and former bowl director who helped start what has become the Heart of Dallas Bowl on New Years Day at Fair Park. Dave Brown helps schedule college games for ESPN and helps run the Longhorn Network, which focuses on University of Texas sports. He hedged a bit when asked whether Dallas were now the nations college football capital. Its certainly one of them, he said, thats for sure. Financially, the regions college football stats are strong. About 950,000 fans a year attend top division games in North Texas, according to an analysis by economist Ray Perryman. About 57 percent of the fans are from out of town and they directly spend, excluding tickets, nearly $165 million while here. 9. We beat Grambling and drop 15 spots......... Sun Belt Real Time RPI
  10. According to both teams first half field goal percentage, a giant basketball magnet.
  11. George Mason 34 Florida Atlantic 23 Halftime On a side note: Rice 23 UT 20 Halftime
  12. No reason for that not to be a goal for JJ and RV. This program needs to look at the next level and recent recruiting shows we can get there. It's all about recruiting. There is no reason it can't happen.
  13. Sun Belt RPI....It's not real pretty........... SBC RPI
  14. So far your right....but I need to see another couple of months before making a decision...sometimes during that second year the "light" comes on and that is when the kid takes off. Sometimes it's right away and sometimes in mid-late season. Let's hope for sooner than later.
  15. Good points. Couldn't agree with you more.
  16. I agree mdh.....we did not play well tonight but still somehow got a W. Three point fg is again just awful (3-19)....our defense (interior and perimeter) was shaky at best and we were bailed out by some HORRIBLE calls by the refs....Rice had plenty to complain about very poor officiating. It let us go to our strength in free throw shooting...let us get back in the game and in the end sealed the deal with UNT shooting 2 shots each foul at the end. 1:00 to go with a lead and instead of working the clock and working up a good shot we jack up a 3??? Just doesn't make any sense. Tristan Thompson continues to carry this team.....man he is fun to watch....when he gets hot hitting the three he is scary. Press worked well and the guys really got after it which led to some huge turnovers at the end. I am encouraged we can still gut it out when we are not playing our best but this team has a lot to work on. Happy for the win but lots to improve on. GMG!
  17. I agree with adh. This KU team is loaded....big, quick and athletic and will bury you inside and out. To only be down by 9 points at halftime was quite a feat. The scary thing is we might see them again if we make the tourney, but right now they look like a clear one seed...although it's still early. Duke vs Kansas would be fun to watch and there is a good chance we could see it in early April. The biggest things I took away: Points off turnovers-NT 6,KU 18. We literally passed the ball (defender was clearly in front of he player we were passing to) to Kansas on at least three different occasions which went the other way for points....hesitancy, frustration and just poor ball movement resulted in this lopsided stat. We need to take care of the ball better...it isn't just Kansas that this happens against. We need to really focus on the importance of ball handling and passing. This is fundamental part of the game that teams just don't focus on as much anymore from pee-wee all the way up to the NBA. It's a shame because when it is a priority it makes basketball such a great game to watch. Fast break points-NT 8,KU 19 - All night on offense one shot and done..this was the biggest thing I noticed....they seemed to smother us on the boards. We had to shoot well, especially from 3 point range to keep it close and 0-12 from 3 point range will get this team beat against the Sun Belt let alone Kansas. Just like the Kansas State game last year - they shut down Josh..the big schools have guards just as quick and are bigger that really frustrate him..and they did....thank goodness for Tristan (just like against KSU in tourney) or this would have been even worse.....he really seems to turn it on against the big teams and he is fast becoming my favorite player. Depth as well.....Kansas really didn't miss a beat with their bench against us and our starters were worn out in the second half but they played hard and never gave up and there is something to be said for a team like that. The good news is every game is winnable from here on out! Use the game as a great learning tool about about how far we still need to go and bring on RICE! GMG!
  18. Hiring Trilli was a genius move because of one thing....GREEN SEATS!!!!!
  19. Great summary. I saw a lot of the same problems at the Jackson State game. Had we not hit the 3 in that game we would have lost bad. It looks like we are going to live and die by the three and we all know how that story ends over the course of a season. If we do not establish a better inside game and shore up our defensive play we are going to be mediocre at best. The one good thing is that it looks like the Belt is not as strong as it has been that past few years. The RPI ranking for the conference is horrid right now! Winning the tourney will be the only way a Belt team goes dancing this year. Again as I say every season, why does Howerton ever leave the bench? He does not belong at this level of basketball.
  20. I have watched this season from afar this year as I did not renew my season tickets that I have had for about a decade. The reason for this for the most part was due to economic issues and family obligations on the weekends with two teenagers involved in school activities. Having said that I have to be honest. As much as I have enjoyed the gameday atmosphere over the years, I would have had a hard time spending my valuable time and money on such a horrible product. For those of you that have stayed committed, you are truly die hard fans. How we managed decent attendance this year is remarkable and a job well done by students, alumni and the athletic department. I will say the one thing I have missed this year is seeing all of the good friends I have made over the years rooting on the Mean Green. I have said numerous times that I would give Coach Dodge two years before I held him accountable for the program. He did not inherit much talent and has brought in a system that is completely opposite of what Dickey ran. This is going to take time. Those of you talking about firing coach Dodge really makes me scratch my head. That would only set this program back even more and as many have stated on the board, this is about a four year process to evaluate. I read this morning in the DMN that Coach Dodge has not made any excuses and takes full responsibility for this horrific season. He is going to sit down with Rick V. and evaluate every single person in the program as he should. The bottom line in winning football at this level is recruiting. That was the sell to us when Coach Dodge was hired. This is the area that will ultimately decide the programs fate in the next couple of years. I think the jury is still out on the first two classes but we have to continue to recruit better athletes just to stay competitive in the Sun Belt, let alone out of conference. The one great thing about this season is the stadium vote. Kudos to all the students that made this happen. This was essential to help with this process. Had that not passed, I think this program would slowly die an ugly death. If Coach Dodge can consistently recruit better than the majority of mid-major programs than the rest will take care of itself. Will that happen? It remains to be seen but accountability for me starts now. Go Mean Green! Erik
  21. If you think that was bad wait till you see the tv broadcast.......it was more embarrasing than our defense! talk about half ass......
  22. If you think that was bad, what till you see the tv broadcast. It was worse than our defense.....truly embarrasing.
  23. Troy fans have to be absolutely sick tonight.......along with the Sun Belt Conference Administration and New Orleans Bowl Committee. If Troy was there I am guessing they would have brought at least 10,000 - 15,000 fans? How great would it be to have Memphis with 3 Sun Belt losses this year! GO OWLS!!!
