  1. IT'S JUST YOU! This might be the most ridiculous thread in the history of GMG.COM.
  2. Since we returned to Division I, we have not had a schedule that has had this many winnable games. UT (only body bag game) is behind us. I am not saying that we will go undefeated from here on out but there is reason to be excited about the season. That AD did a great job with this scheduling and should be commended on a job well done. We get the SMU game we have screamed about for years and 3 road games that are easy to travel to (Tulsa, Lafayette, and Monroe). Akron and Tulsa will be tough road games but are still winnable. We also start conference play with two games at home. If you think about it, could we have asked for a better schedule? The SMU game is huge. A win over the Ponies could really get the ball rolling for this team. Sat, Sep 09 SMU Denton, Texas 6 p.m. Sat, Sep 16 Tulsa at Tulsa, Oklahoma 6 p.m. Sat, Sep 23 Akron at Akron, Ohio 5 p.m. Sat, Sep 30 Middle Tennessee Denton, Texas 6 p.m. Sat, Oct 07 Florida International Denton, Texas 6 p.m. Sat, Oct 21 Arkansas State at Jonesboro, Arkansas 6 p.m. Sat, Oct 28 Troy at Troy, Alabama 6 p.m. Sat, Nov 04 Louisiana Tech Denton, Texas 6 p.m. Sat, Nov 11 Louisiana-Lafayette at Lafayette, Louisiana 4 p.m. Sat, Nov 18 Florida Atlantic Denton, Texas 6 p.m. Sat, Nov 25 Louisiana-Monroe at Monroe, Louisiana 6 p.m. GMG! POUND THE PONIES!
  3. The best part of Michigan is under water!
  4. Is there any thought of using him as a Wideout? It is sounding like Meager and Tune are going to be 1 and 2 on the depth chart and that Woody is an athlete that we need to use on the field in some other capacity.
  5. Yes, but I won't be by a tv during the game.
  6. I have a family gathering to attend in Galveston the day of the UT game. I am assuming I will have no trouble getting the game on the radio on 88.3 out of Houston? For those of you who make the trek to Austin, hang in there. I was there two years ago and stayed for the entire 65-0 massacre. After the Cedric Beson cutback for A TD which ended right in front of our section, we knew it was going to be a very LONG day. That was one of the toughest games I have ever sat through. I hope it is not near as bad this year but Vegas says otherwise. It's personally witnessing games like these over the years that will make that one game when we upset a top program on the road so sweet. GMG!
  7. For those of you who listen to 105.3 FM's Jagger show you may know of Jasmine who is a UNT student who is part of the show. An interesting note on her bio: "I'm 24 and I go to UNT. I'm majoring in Broadcast News and minoring in Political Science. You may wonder if I have any school spirit and the answer to that is NO- as I put it, its hard to have school spirit when you are in the Sunbelt Conference." Jasmine Bio Obviously this is not the best publicity but I do see some real changes with the student attendance as a whole. The attendance has been fantastic the last several years and it seems to get better every year. I have a feeling the student side for the SMU game will rival that of the 1990 game when I was a student, completely packed!
  8. Click Let the debates begin! DENTON- 1995, a year to remember in the sports world. Cal Ripken played in his 2,131 consecutive game, Joe Montana retired from the NFL, Michael Jordan came out of retirement for the first time, Cigar raced to a perfect season in horse racing, and North Texas returned to the ranks of the Division I-A college football. In conjunction with North Texas entering its 12th season since returning to Division I-A football, the Mean Green Radio Network is unveiling its all-time team of Mean Green football players from 1995 to the present. SO... how many of these players make the ALL TIME TEAM (since the program began)?
  9. So is this: "Four Sun Belt opponents easily topped 200 yards rushing, and only Florida International (79 yards) failed to top 180."
  10. One thing will fix this and all other problems......CONSISTENTLY WIN OUTSIDE OF THE SUN BELT. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
  11. Brad Kassel started out on the Titans practice squad and look at him now.
  12. The problem is that the majority of NL pitchers can't hit.....it's so exciting to watch them consistently bunt and strike out.
  13. I can attest to that. I played at JJ Pearce in the late '80s and we played Highland Park every year in non-district play.
  14. We maybe win 2 more games this year. This team is flat out terrible and with this offense we might not win another game. Reality can be sobering. This season makes you realize how special the last 4 years were. It doesn't last forever.
  15. Vinve Young will stay for next year. He won't be a QB in the NFL. He will be a Wide Receiver.
  16. Found this site in case anyone was interested. I am partial to the 7th one listed. http://fightmusic.com/sunbelt.html GMG!!!!!! Beat Tulsa!
  17. Give them hell tomorrow Meager!!!! The first game and W is behind you!
  18. UNTSIG isn't being negative. He is being a realist. UNT Home Attendance Average while Sun Belt Champs: 2004 - 15,184 2003 - 18,694 2002- 15,260 2001 - 13,248 Every year we hear that ticket sales are going well and every year fans post on this board their dissappointment. The numbers don't lie. Even if we beat Tulsa and K-State our average won't change that much this year. The sooner one can accept who we are, where we came from and what our fan base is about, the better one will feel. Just think about what our attendance will be when we have a bad/losing season and it will happen, maybe even this year. I and I'm sure UNTSIG would agree that we would love to have our attendance numbers soar but the truth is that we aren't there yet and it may take quite awhile to be where we think or hope we should be. GMG!
  19. DISCLAIMER - Predictions = How you think the game will turn out, not how you want it to go. Tulsa - 27 UNT - 17 Of course I hope I'm wrong but after watching Tulsa against OU, I don't have much confidence in our defense and their offense is better than MTSU's. I think their QB and TE are going to have a big day. Our running game by itself won't be enough. Tulsa also played against Minnesota and Oklahoma which even though they aren't at the top of their game, they definitely have better players and depth than us. Here's hoping I am wrong. GMG!
  20. That article was a riot! As for Adler...that was an oldie but a goodie!
  21. Honorable Mention - Last game of the 1990 Season vs NE Louisiana (Monroe) - The Infamous "Win and Were in Game". NE Louisiana lineman (straight over the center) blocked a field goal on the last play of the game to keep us from the 1-AA playoffs. My stunned face was captured on the front page of the DRC the next day. My dad had it framed for me......it's a nice reminder of where we used to be. Who was our kicker that year? Thanks in advance.
  22. Greenbat, myself and girlfriend from Mesquite/Lancaster - This will be her 2nd UNT game - 1st game was Idaho last year. I hope she isn't expecting us to tear down the goalposts at every game, especially before the game is over .
