the if it is the player talent level, why is he playing so conservative with so much time on the board, when we can't stop their offense...maybe we should just tell the other team what plays we are going to run...we are just about doing that now. and, BTW, Mac getting the big bucks to fix this issue.

These players go out and work hard...they are what they are...and we recruit what we can recruit...so, we can hope they get better at recruiting, esp with the conf change...perhaps we need a better qb coach..don't know, maybe its just DT's talent level....what I do believe is...play calling has been pretty bad all year...it just really stands out against Troy and WKU....we don't trhow the ball for the needed yardage on a 3rd and X...we throw it X-4 or X-6...then we punt...we have done this all year long...we are too predictable with plays...if we have a 3rd and 8 we either pass for for 3 or pass for 30....then we punt. We always play way to conservative with way too much time left against that usually kicks our ass....usually sunbelt team our "high powered" coach is coaching against. When we run a play that works...don't look for us to use it again in the same game...we much prefer to go back to what is not working.. So is Mac the guy ?....got to say, I'm not seeing it...comparing to Dodge is like comparing Ali to a 7th grade boxer...Dodge is nothing to be comparing coaches to....how about comparing to other coaches...maybe even Sunbelt. I think this is the worse play calling I have ever seen at UNT. He is in year two and it took a bad call for us to win against South Alabama...stat wise we got our asses kicked. This could be bad for RV as well....we don't have years to change thinks at UNT...like someone said...some of us will be DEAD before UNT wins...its just a disgrace and pathetic to keep a coach that is not winning...we, especially the students, are paying alot of money for football and expect results better than this...this is millions more $$$ and barely better than the high schoo coach RV hired and kept for near forever. If Mac isn't well on track half way through next year I say PUNT and put Canales in charge again for the remained...he may end of being the guy for us before all is said and done (but maybe not)...but 6 games into next year, I believe you will know if MAC is IT...if he is not, don't wait...PUNT. We don't need another group of students graduating and believing UNT football totally sucks.

If he can't win 6-7 games by end of year 3...he should be fired....this year we win 4 games...one against a 1aa program, one where a bad call basicly helped us win against a team the kicked us around and has been playing div 1a football for how long.....???...yea!!

and Todd Dodge won half as many games in his 2nd year and we stuck with him also....a grand total of 1.

USA beat themselves often and penalties saved us often. The play calling was just terrible...ran on just about every 1st down...I can't count the number of 2nds and 8 - 13 yrds...if we don't have the playmakers on the field , then why are do we continue to throw the fade...why are we not throwing more 5-10 yrd slants...I don't recall seeing any misdirection plays and we didn't have a pass rush until the 4th qtr....and once again our secondary leaves receivers 10 yrds open...they repeatedly made 3rd and 8-23 yrd throws, making a 1st....this team just looks BAD...and so far they have proved it...I still think coaching is a BIG part of the failures this year...the play calling is just terrible and we don't seem to fix the prior weeks problems...like coverage of receivers...et al

If I think it could be a close game...I would kick...but on about the 24 yrd line witha 4 and 2 and getting ass kicked...NO...I go for the 1st down and keep the drive alive..keep the ball with our off and try to keep the score down...our def was not doing well..not at all...this seemed to change the momentum of the game for us...and I have seen this 3 x this season.

I saw the turning point...and what i call a terrible coaching decision with 10 minutes left in the 2nd qtr. Dan decides to kick a field goal with us down 16-9. They were showing the off numbers on the scoreboard...unt...105 yrds to ASU 245 yrds...clearly our def was getting our ass kicked...I have seen this in every game were we have been beaten down...a lack of "feeling" for the situation and realization of how poorly we are doing early in the game..Dan plays too conservative when we are behind early in the game...we had a 3rd and...poor play calling..went 2 a 4th and 2 at about the 25 yrd line...downhill from there...then when we come back from the half down by 3 TDs to pull ahead and they waist so much time on the field getting plays off...always a lack of urgency and failure to recognize how much the other team is dominating us..usually easy to see early on...these are coaching issues.

first of all.. sure how you tell if the route the receiver is running is not correct...but in this game DT was throwing the ball at the receivers feet or over throwing the ball..many of the catches made w ere due to the acrobatic skills of the receivers. I saw many receivers wide open and thought DT whould throw to them, only to be surprised when he threw to someone else.

This says it all as far as the qb situation...the longer the season goes on, the more evident we need a QB...I like tompson,tough and great character, should take him a long way in life, but he just isn't the caliber of qb we need to succeed.

WOW..on the money...every year, same excuse...the Todd Dodge excuse..we only won 5 games in the TD coaching experience and we wone 5 games last year...we are making progress...well how is a 59-7 win last year to a big loss this year progress...I'll tell you...Unt jacked around with the piss poor conservative coaching of Dan mac until it was over and everything was too late...this year is OVER. We say the same thing with Troy...it was obvious in the 1st qtr,,,, like it was in the Houston game...easy to see in the 1st qtr...total lack of recognition and urgency...game over......here is my prediction....Dan Mac is not the guy...it will be recognized when it is too late...as is usual for UNT...and we will try to find someone else to lead us. could this change..of course..but not likely. This pattern of coaching has not changed and I suspect it will not....when us fans in TV land see this over and over...why can't they see it....the leash for DAn mac and team should be short...really short..and they should know it....they are being humiliated...this is not what we want and this is not progress.

Dan always talking about the "others"...stoops, Alverez, snider, etc....but they are all successful...Dan ???? really.!!

Perhaps it is because the loses are unnecessary...crappy play calling and coaching seems to be the biggest issue....maybe if we used the 4th qtr game plan in the 1qtr, we could win...so many stupid things this staff is doing....yea, that simple. !!

I would say try to schedule K state, Texas, Ok state...and yes..Notre Dame...the teams we try to play at cotton bowl should be teams with name recog, possabilty to bring a crowd along with UNT that will total more than 30,000...I would be good with many teams in the rankings of 25-11, top 10, not so much. Army or navy would be good also....love this Cotton bowl idea !

examples of conservative play I saw...the play when we were at the 1/2 yrd line and goal line...why?...twice playing out of end zone...running right up the middle x 3...punt...if your def is working well and their off..not so much, well maybe OK, but with an off like LaMonroe or WKU, you are turning the ball over to their off and giving them a short field. I think we ran the ball 75%+ on first downs...predictable.

don't know, but I can say that if we play as conservative as we played against Troy and ULL, we can't beat WKU and La Monroe....on our win against LaLa we were lucky to pull that our with some big plays and coming back from a 20-3 score...like someone said...we are not a team that comes from behind well...maybe that is changing...don't know. Would like us to mix up the plays on 1st down...just too predictable and more short passes..slants,etc and repeat plays that work, don't just do them once per game. I'll say this...the MG played fantastic football in the 2nd half....I was impressed...proud of the MG and very happy for the players. If getting a bowl happens with a 6/6 record...we stand a 50/50 chance....7/5...maybe 25-30%...if that high...but confidence can change a team and it seems they"got it" in the 2nd have of the laLa game.

keep in mind...they put 37 points up against Troy...we put up 7 points....their offense is what will win the game for them...our secondary will lose the game for us...like in the Houston game (as well as everything else...like the off, coaching, lack of urgency until it was too late...blah blah blah)

UNT knows they are the only game in town at this time...they are just trying to put the best foot forward...don't be a jackass....get behind the effort...if you want bigger things from UNT...get behind the team.
