  1. Found out late 1st/early 2nd round money is less than what he can pull down at SMU. Difference in opinions.
  2. Looking at the three WR's in the play, Goree had the tightest coverage. Pump fake him to draw defenders off of the other WR's, move around in the pocket to buy some time, something to get us 1 yard. A sideline ball thrown up for grabs, under thrown at that, is the lowest percentage play in that situation.
  3. Yes, I saw the DB giving a 5 yard cushion on 4th and 1.
  4. Still say checking down to Thompson would have given us the first down. It was 4th and 1 and he picked the WR with the tightest coverage.
  5. He must have been a fast SOB because he is nowhere to be found in that picture, and Morris still has the ball in his hand.
  6. The point of my post above was not to dismiss how our administration has historically ignored our athletic department, although I think this is changing with the current administration, but to point out some differences in the two schools. In Arkansas, the University is like a professional team. Everyone loves the Razorbacks, the media follows their every move, kids idolized their players, etc... ASU is the lonely little brother that has a small but passionate fanbase. Their only real competition is the University and maybe Memphis a little. Outside of that, there are no other programs to draw from their market. UNT, and this list has been exhausted, has to compete with the Cowboys, UT/OU weekend, NASCAR, SMU, TCU, UT, A&M, Baylor and a host of other activities in the DFW market. All of which draw attention away from North Texas. We have to win consistently and win big to draw the attention of the casual fan and the alumni that follows us on page 10 of the Dallas Morning News. Couple those issues with an administration that downplayed athletics and the result is our historical problem. Again, we have to have an administration dedicated to the department's success, a team that wins year in and year out, a team that beats recognizable opponents and a team that wins big to draw the consumer/alumni/student's attention away from everything else.
  7. Great insight. Thank you. I was looking at some past posts on the MGN website and saw this picture from the SMU game. I think it was the fourth down fade that fell incomplete. Sure would have been nice to check down to Thompson.
  8. I really want someone that has been a success in a situation similar to the one they will face at UNT. Considering this, my selection as a replacement would by Jackie Moon.
  9. Having family from Arkansas and still living there, ASU and UNT are about as similar as Oscar and Felix. Poor comparison.
  10. Yep, heck of a RB at Abilene High a couple of years ago. There is a lot of talent in the Abilene/San Angelo area. Hope his connections help out in that area. Welcome to Denton.
  11. Whoever is beating me to the update everyday, thank you. I have become so apathetic towards the program that I am not even keeping up with my own countdown. I'm sure joy will return once we are within 10 days.
  12. and SMU...or are they one in the same?
  13. Hope he isn't snapping to Fine. We need Barr in there on regular plays.

  15. You are correct. I was thinking of Mathis at SMU. So, let's go to Desoto. On second thought, let's do both since they are pretty much neighbors.
  16. He was not rated on 247. I decided to look at Rivals since 247 seems to be running behind on offers to see if they had any listed that 247 did not.
  17. Across the street just north of the SP. It is now the Ken Bahnsen Gym.
  18. I always forget about Twitter since I am not active on there.
  19. They were fun during the Blakeley era when attendance was better than the JJ era.
  20. Exactly. I really don't think the Super Pit is a problem for recruiting. Heck, Benford's one success has been recruiting talent. Quirky old gyms are fun and add to the home court advantage. Back 100 years ago when I played, one of our home courts' floors had some "dead" areas. We structured our defense to funnel the opposition to those areas thus creating turnovers. We loved it. The Super Pit is far from an old, quirky gym. The original Pit is a great example. Players want to play were they can win.
  21. Will definitely stop by. Thanks. I thought DOTS were the initials for something or some department.
