  1. I am excited about what we have coming up. RB: Wilson, Tucker, Wyche and Smith WR: Smiley, Guyton, Wilson, Bussey, Rutherford, Hair-Griffen, McIntyre, and Boyd along with TE Smith and Chumley. Plus, I am excited about the incoming freshmen Siggers, Darden and White. I think we will be more explosive overall if what is on paper translates to the field.
  2. We could have walked to our next door neighbor's house and someone would bitch about that. If we wouldn't have toured "the best" someone would have bitched about that. Sometimes you just can't win.
  3. Or we could haul the team down to Junction for a couple of weeks to get them ready for the season. My how times have changed. It's not that you really need an IPF, but you have to keep up with the Joneses.
  4. So, in all of these discussions, am I hearing this correctly. Are there issues with the structural integrity of the building? If not, here is what I would do: 1. Get rid of the "media row" seats that are in a prime location. 2. Place a "ring of suites" around the top of the arena to include a press area, and a room to control the scoreboards, video boards, etc... This would effectively remove say 10 rows of seats thus reducing capacity somewhat. 3. Install elevators to conform to ADA regulations and to access the suite level. 4. Install permanent ticket windows 5. Dress up the concourse area with improved concessions and a fan store accessible from outside when games are not being played. 6. Convert the downstairs gymnastics room in to a practice court. 7. Permanent room for the MGC downstairs. If all of this is cost prohibitive and the SP is structurally sound, I would implement the above in steps while the team improves.
  5. Correct. I like the analogy that Baker is flying the plane. With the recent announcement of plans for an indoor facility, the tour they just completed and the mess he inherited from RV, I am pleased that he is taking his time, evaluating, and determining what can be done and in what order. The most difficult part is being patient.
  6. I was being a smart ass. Let's all work on our sense of humor. Wren is flying the plane.
  7. Well lookie there. Baker isn't involved!
  8. Best of luck to him. From every indication he is a stand up man, left here on mutual terms and will do well wherever he lands.
  9. Some of you need to be patient. Another week or two isn't that big of a deal. It is easy to look from the outside in and pass judgement. The man hasn't been here a year and took over a giant mess that had been neglected for years. He isn't even in to a new new budget year yet.
  10. Personal friend who passed away years ago. Nice man who taught at North Texas for years. Not sure why he was so unsuccessful coaching.
  11. Blakeley's winning percentage = .612 Jones' winning percentage = .569 Blakeley also dropped all non-Div 1 teams for the 76-77 season after not getting an invite to the NCAA tourney. Went 21-6 with that schedule. There isn't really a way to determine who was best objectively, but I watched both teams and would give the nod to Blakeley. I would also be comfortable in stating that attendance was better back then. We had our only sellout during that period and also hosted #1 Depaul to a very near capacity. JJ never got close to filling it up. You favorite memories are of JJ and mine of BB. The only true lesson to come from this is that we need a coach with the same initials.
  12. Yep. Nice comparison. Pretend vs. Real Life. You win.
  13. Sorry, wrong. Blakeley's teams were our most successful and he filled the SP. I was there for both eras.
  14. Like the hire. Welcome to Denton and UNT Coach Yellock.
  15. Like this is some mystery. That young man will end up at LSU.
  16. Long and athletic. Plays WR, S and Punter. Like the offer.
  17. Once P356 was identified, the changing kind of went out the window while Nike got the color right.
  18. I count 99 players on the current roster and that does not include the most current recruiting class. Is our roster that much smaller than our conference opponents? How many do we need to not be dangerously low?
  19. Actually, I think it was a return to the official color of the university.
  20. I agree...except for John Horrocks.
  21. Is he? Who would you have coach out the season?
  22. Romo was caught with a Popeye's box in his car. He blamed it on Martinez, but she is not to take the wrap and walk away.
  23. Our history goes further than "all the way back to 2007."
