  1. Nah, it is easier to just sit here and bitch.
  2. Ahh, had to throw in the RV name calling. So predictable even though I have said time and again that I have never had a private conversation with RV and only met him once when he first arrived on campus, but you keep right on since that makes you feel better. The best man in my wedding is a season ticket holder at TCU along with his brother. He states differently than you, you know, since he was in attendance and you were bitching about your club level seats at Apogee. Bandwagon/Basketball bandwagon, either way you are abandoning your alma mater. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. Baker has been here less than one year, one year! You should practice a little patience, snowflake.
  3. Noticed Chouffet is now listed as an OL on the roster.
  4. B.S. Fans understand that this is a natural rivalry between schools that are 30 miles apart and it should be played every year. Since you are now jumping on the Frog bandwagon, I would suggest you get used to playing SMU every year for the all important cast iron skillet. 2016: TCU vs. South Dakota State attendance 43,450 2015: TCU vs. SFA attendance 45,786 Not sure what your definition of "no one shows up" is.
  5. I was referencing his comment "unless boosters pay the tab" and yes, at most universities the boosters do foot the bill of the buyout. I know many universities, including UNT, rely on student fees, but this, again, is another area where we didn't get on the train until very late in our existence.
  6. Sounds like the one in Trophy Club got nixed after a new Club Manager arrived.
  7. So, you propose we don't continue to play SMU? If so, why?
  8. I could not agree more. Some on here have reached the point where they have a "devil may care attitude" about things, but that doesn't change the fact that there is a way to conduct yourself in the business world. If Baker had come in "guns a-blazin'" he would have made a few on here happy, one that now supports another university's basketball program, but what does that solve? Maybe his evaluation discovered that the P&P's RV had in place were hindering some of the employee's performance. Truth is, we don't know and we won't ever know because it isn't our business. Nothing in Baker's short tenure has me thinking we have the second coming of RV. He is evaluating, putting plans in place, and is some cases, already moving ahead with improvements. Change just for the sake of change and to pacify a few is detrimental to the long-term health of any business. Establish clearly defined expectations, communicate these to all staff creating accountability and then act accordingly.
  9. I also agree that it should be close to the current facilities. I would assume we are looking at an IPF with an 100 yard field. Someone mentioned the one on the master plan looked small. Have they discussed square footage?
  10. Can't change the stripes on a zebra. Seriously. He stated he would hate for you to be his boss. That's a personal attack? Don't you think your "ass sucking" comment qualifies a tad bit higher up the personal attack scale?
  11. Boosters pay the tab at every university, we just don't have near as many because historically, nobody was ever asked to give. Smatresk and Baker are the administration. Baker has not even celebrated his one year anniversary at NT and many are ready to cast him off to the junk heap. Call it what you want, but here is my observation. Smatresk arrived when Mac had just led us to the HOD Bowl. Many were happy in Mean Green Land, and I am sure RV had his ear taking credit for most of the excitement. Shortly thereafter, the truth came out, Mac had issues and was fired mid season followed by RV at the end of the year. Benford was another mess all together, but Mac's removal and RV's replacement took precedent. Littrell was hired, RV let go and Baker was hired which tells me Littrell and Baker have Smatresk's stamp of approval. Baker arrives at about the time a consultant's study shows just how much RV wasn't doing and Baker prioritizes things to make an impact on the most important people in the Athletic Department, the student athletes. He sits down with Benford, Benford, trying to save his job, blames injuries, poor institutional support, etc... on why he hasn't been successful, so Baker says, "You have this season to right the ship." Baker leaves the program in Benford's hands to succeed but keeps a close eye on the situation. In the meantime, Baker sets about repairing and upgrading the facilities for our student athletes, reorganizes the AD, travels the land with the university president looking at facilities, acquires enough donations to announce the start of a $12 million T&F/Soccer facility and the plans for an IPF. As the basketball season crumbles under Benford's direction, Baker starts compiling a list of replacements and will move quickly in replacing Benford once this season is done. Saying Smatresk and Baker don't care is a long shot, but the next few years will tell us a lot about their vision, their ability to make that vision a reality and their ability to elevate our athletic program to where it should be in Division 1 athletics.

  14. Well worth 12 minutes of your time. http://www.meangreensports.com/ "Playing Through The Pain"
  15. This. I would disagree as well considering the media attention around the hiring of Benford. Many outlets touted Benford as an up and coming coach.
  16. The quote from Chris Jones says a lot, and the play of many players would confirm he wasn't the only one feeling that way.
  17. Gotcha. I saw "LA" and was thinking Los Angeles. Hopefully only two more days.

  20. I still prefer a newspaper over reading on the internet.
  21. Well, I was hired in to a position in Houston 12 years ago with the idea that some of the staff under me would need to be replaced. I was told by my boss to not make immediate moves but to evaluate each position and put together a plan. Point being, sometimes a change from above can change some of the performances below. Rash decisions are not always the best. The way I look at this situation is that the Benford mess was dumped in Baker's lap. RV wouldn't fire Benford because it would have equaled him admitting that another one of his hires had failed, so it got passed along to Baker. There were probably bigger fish to fry on Baker's plate when he arrived here, and who knows what was said about Benford. Some might have sided with Benford and said that RV made it difficult on him to succeed. Just a guess, but if that is true, that could have led to Baker's comment about evaluating after the season. Either way, Benford failed the test and hopefully this time next year we are bragging about the turn around and preparing for the conference tournament.
